I went here with my dad who is 84. He used to fish years ago but he told me that he hadn’t been fishing for 43 years! I persuaded him to go as a birthday present. Pick-up from the hotel was timely and we were soon there, despite the traffic. We had the full one day package with guide, bait, rods, water and lunch. We found the people there very helpful, despite other reviews and our guide was terrific, working very hard all day to keep his five clients baited, in the water and catching fish. My dad had the first fish of the day 10 minutes after we had started and it was great to see how he enjoyed himself. In fact we had fish after fish all day and my dad had the biggest fish of the day that must have been over 20kg. In fact all the group had lots of big fish. It was positively arm aching with my biggest fish taking me over 30 minutes to land! I wore my dad out that day, but he was obviously delighted with his day. Lunch was traditional Thai of course but was adequate and well cooked. Obviously the fish are easy to catch which may not suit some people, but if you want a thrilling experience give it a go.
Went here today for a half day experience away from the wife and caught loads of catfish. My fishing guide for the morning was Paul who was superb. He worked tirelessly to show me how to lure the bigger fish, and I managed to land a whopper. Obviously the one that got away was even bigger. Probably ending up landing around thirty fish in four hours which was exhausting. Half day is perfect as you’ll need to be fit to last a whole day in this heat.
Very bad. Some thai guy crossed our line and because of him our rod falled into the water. They said they were never at our fishing spot. People from Bo Sang didn’t help us at all. They say you need to call police otherwise we keep 2000 baht while they needed to charge the thai guy. They are not helping in any way. This company is not fair. NEVER GO HERE! THEY STEAL YOUR DEPOSIT. I want my 2000 baht back
this is my second time here and it was just as good as the last i was picked up at 08.30 taken to the park and began fishing right away we had a really good guide his name was EP the same guy as last time (four years ago ) and he still remembered us we had a great day a good meal and all for the some of 50pounds great value in my eyes also on the day i caught about thirty fish
Don’t come here, people are rude. Very very bad place. Stay away. Place stinks not helpful and totally unprofessional
I was staying with my partner in Chiang Mai and had tea down the road from our hotel. On the way back I saw this brochure from a travel place and took it home to show the missus. After a short discussion on if I could go for an afternoon of fishing, she agreed and the next morning I booked a trip for later that afternoon. The guide picked myself and 2 other blokes up from on our respective hotels and took us to this fishing pond. Upon arrival we were all impressed with the facilities as you first walk in, everything is catered for and you have the option to hire gear if needed. As we had the guide, he supplied everything we needed and once ready at a station, we were onto fish within 10 minutes. From then between the 3 of us, we caught about 20 fish ranging from 5-25kgs and we all had a great time, the guide was very helpful and knowledgeable, it’s a family run business and he had been working there for many years. All in all, it’s money well spent and although we only found the one species, it was well worth the effort to go for a fish. Great for first time pond fishing.
Big fish, nice surroundings, lots of catch. What more do you need😊. We can recommend this place. Go there and try it….
Such a great day fishing on the lake, almost a fish every cast! The lady behind the desk was so lovely and made our whole experience very enjoyable, she even booked us a taxi back to our hotel afterwards as we were struggling to find one ourselves. Would 100% recommend this place!
I do a lot of fishing back in Darwin, Australia so did some research before I came to Thailand. If you can, bring your own fishing tackle, including leader and hooks. I took a 3-6 kg spin stick and a 2500 size reel loaded with 10 pound braid and 30lb leader. Hooks were around a 1/0 size.We rode our motorcycles out from Chiang Mai arriving at around 8.30am.The lady at the counter wasn’t particularly welcoming but did provide a pair of pliers when asked. I hired their tackle for my son, which was very agricultural and well used. We paid 350THB for the rod hire and entry and 200THB for myself. (You leave a deposit for the hire rod/reel).For that money, they provide a couple bags of bait (basically old cake) some buckets and a landing net. Note that they do not sell hooks or sinkers, so take your own.The facilities are quite good, with a small shop selling drinks and snacks; there are toilets just outside and shade shelters scattered around the edge of the lake. A downside was the lack of care shown for the grounds. Rubbish was leftover from the day before and a dead catfish was floating in the lake margin. The fishing, however, was action packed! We rarely waited longer than a minute for a bite and we hooked in excess of 25 fish in the two hours we were there. We only landed 15 or so, but they were all solid Mekong catfish ranging from 5 to 20 kilos. Some tips.1. You need to really squeeze the bait hard onto your hook as it doesn’t stay on very well. We hid the hook inside a lump of cake.2. Don’t cast out too far. We were only casting 5 to 10 metres from the bank and had plenty of bites.3. Don’t worry about a sinker. The weight of the bait is enough.4. Maybe take some bread as it would be easier to put on the hook.5. Avoid the heat of the day. Fish the morning and mid week to avoid crowds. The park opens at 8.00am.We had a great time and by doing it yourself you have a greater sense of satisfaction.
Lovely guide but minimal equipment. No disgrders to get hooks out of the mouth, and no landing nets, nor mats, so fish had to be put onto the stony ground.
