What a magical time we had, preparing their food, feeding, mud bathing, showering with the elephants and then a fresh water bath. Finished the day off making special nutrition balls for the elephants and then a lovely lunch.
My husband and I visited this place in June. We booked via our hotel and only had a short journey to get here. We were welcomed and told lots of interesting information about the elephants. This place has 3 elephants. The guide explained that they would give the elephants chance to get to know us while we gave them bananas and then we’d have a walk with them and then wash them. We were the only 2 people there so it made it feel like a real personal experience. It was very well organised and we were happy that they really cared for the elephants and looked after them very well. We only did the basic tour but we’re very happy with the up close and personal experience we got whilst here.
Coming from South Africa, we were looking for an ethical sanctuary to visit. Eco elephant sanctuary didn’t feature chain restraints or clubs/whips in controlling the elephants which we were very pleased to notice. The carers were attentive and handled the elephants professionally and in a manner that didn’t make the elephants or us visitors uncomfortable. The host, Too, was very friendly, attentive and patient. I would recommend this sanctuary to anyone visiting Phuket! Please try them before supporting elephant experiences where chains and saddles for riding are present, as this is abusive and should not be supported. Too and his team clearly love their elephants and I would gladly do their tour again.
It has been wonderful to see and get a feel of what it means to spend a day with these beautiful and gentle animals. The team has been very friendly and where explaining everything we wanted to ask. Highly recommended it for people who want to see, touch, feed and bathe with the elephants. Great for families with small children too!
