After reading great reviews I booked a Friday market tour and cooking class for my Mum, sister and I, and we were not disappointed! Pui picked us up and took us on a great market tour where we got to try many local and fresh fruits, traditional Thai breakfast foods including coconut pancake and iced coffee and tea. After buying a few ingredients it was off to cook in a fully air conditioned modern kitchen, which was perfect as we were still adjusting to the humidity and heat! After learning how to make and store our own curry paste, we made 2 curries, pad Thai and delicious mango sticky rice dessert. Hands down the best red curry and pad Thai we have ever tried! It was great to learn you can make a big batch of curry paste and freeze to use whenever you want, which means I can take these recipes home and actually use them for quick week night dinners. I would recommend to anyone wanting an authentic Thai cooking experience, you will be surprised how easy it is for you to make these delicious dishes at home! Visited Puis kitchen with my two teenage boys. You immediately felt warmly welcomed and it turned out to be a fantastic three hour cooking class where we made five Thai dishes we chose oureselves in beforehand. Pui and her assistant were very well prepaired and professional. Very patient and encouraging as well. We learnt a lot and got extremely full…Highly recommend!
I have been cooking and entertaining for fifty years but I learned so much from Pui in three hours than I tShe has the perfect attributes to lead me theough rhree hours of chopping tastingfive dishes: pad thai, sour spicy soup, green papaya salad, res curry chicken and squid salad. First she would demonstrate and then I would try to imitate her. She would taste mine and then have meFaste hers. I would then have to try to determine what might be added to improve it. I learned about salad dressings and cutting veges and palm vs cane sugar. I left with a cook’s apron, a recipe direction for each item and a bag full of what I prepared that would turn into dinner for four.
My husband, myself and our 11 yo daughter did a market tour and cooking class at BrassWok. From the moment I enquired about the course I knew I had made a good choice. Pui was very responsive and accomodating to my requests. We were picked up from our hotel and taken to the markets where we got to try lots of goodies and learnt about the Thai lifestyle. Back at the cooking school kitchen Pui demonstrated each dish and then we cooked our own dish under her supervision to our own taste. Pui is a very vibrant and beautiful lady and as well as learning a lot and eating lots of yummy food we had lots of laughs and fun! A truly memorable day! Totally recommend this class.

My sister and I had an excellent afternoon with Pui, learning to cook some of our favourite Thai dishes as well as some dishes we hadn’t tried before.Pui is fantastic – a genuine, warm and funny person who made us feel comfortable from the start. The class was great – we were encouraged to taste individual ingredients and then how they came together in the dish as we went a long, learnt about ingredients we weren’t aware of and got tips on how to easily incorporate these dishes into our everyday cooking. We got to eat what we had made there (which was delicious!) and got plenty to take away as an added bonus!A must do for any foodie visiting Phuket. Thank you Pui for a fantastic experience!
I was fortunate enough to be taken for a Thai cooking class for my birthday by my wife and daughter.We arrived at BrassWok and we were greeted by the lovely, Chef Pui who was our very talented Chef and teacher for the class.My wife and daughter joined me for the class and it was great to see both of them enjoying themselves as much as I was during the duration of the class.We were taken on a taste adventure by Chef Pui that we will never forget. The class is totally hands-on which adds to the fun and enjoyment we all shared.Starting with the basics of Thai cooking, balancing sweet, sour, salty and spicy, we then journeyed through the Thai vegetables and spices that we would be using throughout the creation of our four courses.Tasting at each stage is a necessity and a treat for the pallet.It was amazing that three people cooking exactly the same meals could each have their combinations of flavours just slightly different to the other which was guided by their pallet. Each person tasted the others to get a better understanding of balance.The kitchen was setup with the latest equipment and utensils which aided in the enjoyment we had cooking beautiful authentic Thai meals, all thanks to the fantastic Chef Pui.My family had a great time learning and cooking With Chef Pui we can’t wait to get back for another food adventure, the Thai way!
We had a great time today with chef Pui and she made it awesome and was also very understanding as we had our young kids with us..,I can highly recommend this cooking class and food was just excellent and we learned a lot!
Chef Pui’s cooking class exceeded all expectations! This was a highlight of our trip. We took a class for four people, lasting about three hours. During the class we completed 4 dishes, learned all about Thai cuisine, and left feeling totally stuffed and with leftovers to bring home. Chef Pui is extremely knowledgeable, very well organized, and ensured that everyone in our group had an incredible time. Her food is delicious!
In November, I had the great pleasure of attending a cooking course at Brass Wok Cooking School. It was a great experience in the wonderful atmosphere where Chef Pui creates in her cooking studio. Pui showed and shared the secrets of cooking, the food was delicious, and you can choose dishes according to your culinary preferences. what is the result? TomYom, mango sticy rice, thai salad, red curry I practice at home now with my familly and friends:) they are so happy i Was decided to join to this course 🙂 additionally, I received recipes for dishes that we have not prepared before I highly recommend the school, great experience and time spent in Pui space. Continuing our personal endeavour to have a vegetarian cookery course wherever we travel in the world, we were delighted to take part in Pui’s BrassWok course at her personal home in Phuket. We started with a trip to the local market (which I appreciate isn’t for every vegetarian as it’s fish and meat as well as veg) but it is the only way to really discover local fruit and veg; what they look like, taste, smell and the hubbub that goes with a market, the likes of which you don’t get in the UK.Once all the ingredients were bought, it was back to Pui’s house for the magic. We had pre-chosen• Tom Yum Soup with Oyster Mushrooms• Laab with Mixed Mushroom and Long Bean• Massaman Curry with Sweet Potato and Pumpkin• Banana in Coconut Cream Dessertas our four dishes and spent the next few hours lovingly cooking and eating them one by one.In between, the conversation flowed freely and I can honestly say that we had a really lovely time, both from a cooking and education point of view but equally from a host perspective, learning about the local culture etc.We cooked far more than we could eat so took the remainder away with us to eat later in the day!Thoroughly recommended. Now, if only we could get such fresh ingredients back at home…
