One of the highlights of our trip backpacking Southeast Asia. Cait and the staff were wonderful. Excellent food, amazing snorkeling and amazing experiences camping on Ko Kradan and Ko Rok. Thank you Cait!
All I can say is…wow! This tour is so worth the trip. Everything from the communication, to the tour itself was impeccable. Ned and Cait are a great team. The crew were so great with our 3 year old son, and kept him entertained the whole day. He was so brave to go through the emerald cave, and had a blast on the other side! He still talks about the fun we had that day. I wish I could go back and do it all again. I still think about the delicious meal we enjoyed that day of fish, rice and noodles. Don’t hesitate to do this trip. You will not regret it!!!!
We were kindly picked up at our hotel with an open pickuptruck. Good for me but I can imagine this not being comfortable for some.. And driver was driving quite fast.We set off with a couple of couples, of which two couples did a tour the day before with the same boat. But the gearbox on the boat failed. We were not happily surprised that the gearbox wasn’t fixed properly.. We lost a lot of time with his issue..Although it was a great day, nice weather, great views and people; the tour lacked guidance. The guide, which we are not sure who it was, didn’t gave much explaination and his English was really poorly. We did the four island tour but didn’t set foot on one, it was stopping a bit from sure, snorkling and back out.There was no explaination on how to snorkel but they were helpfull if you asked. Lunch wasn’t that great, bit cold and it was local food, which meant most of it was toooo spicy.I hope we just got a bad day and the tours are better than we’ve experienced..
My partner and I booked a private excursion through Freedom Adventures with a single night camping at Koh Rok. Ned and team were very well organized and always found ways to avoid the crowds wherever we stopped for snorkeling/sightseeing.The meals were great and their loose schedule allowed us to take our time where we felt needed.Thanks Ned for an awesome trip! I look forward to booking again. You guys were amazing.Recommended for those looking for a relaxed, easygoing vibe.
I spent a wonderful day, pick up was on time and we were only five people on the boat. Ned is such a nice and friendly captain, giving ggod information about everything and he cooked a very good typical thai meal for us. The boat is big enough and the tour was amazing! We never were with many other boats in the same time so we could enjoy snorkeling so much. The emerald cave is a great thing to do as well!Dont hesitate to choose this little company for your island tour in Lanta, Ned will do everything for you to feel comfortable!
I have been trying to book a camping excursion with Freedom adventures for me and my husband for 2 nights in Feb 2019, but they either dont reply, or when they reply they dont provide information as i requester dates of their excursions in Feb. I would still LOVE to book with them, is there any other way to get ahold of them, they need to UP on their admin ASAP- they are losing customers.
To be clear, we did not go on this tour. This review is with respect to the communication (or lack thereof) and poor customer service.We emailed Ned to book a tour for Wednesday on the Sunday we arrived. He responded quickly to all emails and arranged to come to our hotel to pick up the deposit the next day. He actually asked for our full payment, but based on reviews I preferred a deposit instead, which I’m glad in retrospect. At this point, Ned was super nice and we were excited for the experience! Ned mentioned that we were the only group to book for that day so far, and should expect just us or maybe 2-4 others.Wednesday we were picked up by another person; he knew our hotel room and little else. We figured it was fine, but a little odd based on what I read. Once we arrived at Old Town, we were grouped with a bunch of tourists and given a “4 island” sticker. It dawned on us that we weren’t going out with Freedom Adventures, but the The Four Islands tour service. I can only assume there wasn’t enough people to fill the boat, and something was arranged for us to go with another group. Which, honestly, I get that they cancelled under the circumstances. What was incredibly frustrating was that we weren’t communicated with about the situation, but deceived even, and given little choice of what to do in leu of our planned trip. We likely would have not chosen the tour we were rebooked to and I think we might have even shelled out more money to hire Freedom Adventures for the two of us for the day – we were on our honeymoon so we were willing to pay for a specific experience. We were left instead to make a quick decision with the 4 island crew breathing down our neck. In the end, we went on the trip since we were already there and it was our last day in Koh Lanta. At the end of the day, the driver asked for the balance of what was owed. He called who I assume was Ned to ask how much was due (we were tired and forgot). The driver put my husband on the phone to talk to Ned and he was completely silent. He would only talk to the driver. I assume it largely had to with the language barrier, but not even an apology? Ned was very responsive to get his money, but totally silent when it came to changes. It left a pretty bad taste in our mouth and we just hope the bait and switch won’t happen to anyone else!
We booked a 4 island tour with Freedom Adventures and confirmed the week before and once again the day before. However the day of we got an email stating our tour was cancelled but if we wanted to pay 2000 baht more we could take a private tour instead. This seems like a common practice for them. Beware. Don’t book with them.
We booked to go on a 4 island boat tour, our initial booking had to be cancelled because of strong winds (fair enough) so we rescheduled for a couple of days later (the day before we left the island). The day before our booking I emailed Cait to confirm the trip was still going ahead explaining that it was our last day on the island and so our last chance for a boat trip. Cait replied confirming the trip was going ahead and we would be collected from our resort at 8am. The day of the tour we waited until 10am with no sign of the pick up – I’d contacted Cait and tried to ring but the number was out of service. It wasn’t until later in the day I got a reply simply saying ‘Hi- sorry can you do tomorrow instead’ – I explained AGAIN that we couldn’t as we were leaving the island the next day and asked why we weren’t collected – I’m still waiting for a reply! Incredibly frustrating and disappointing – especially as we could have made other arrangements if we had been told we weren’t going to be collected.
A nightmare! Don’t book with them. From the start it went already wrong. The boat from ned was broken. We want with a small fisher vessel instead which after 20” also was broken. We paid a deposit in advance. But where dropped at a random place. No refund. We lost one day of our vacation and 4500 baht.
