  1. Trust me this is the ethical elephant tour for you!Myself and my partner were so excited for our special day and after a lot of research I knew that I booked the right tour months in advance. There was a slight bump but Asian Elephant Projects handled it with such personalised care.So thank you to the booking team who accommodated us when there were not enough people booked on this tour. We were devastated when we got the email telling us the tour would be cancelled 24 hours before and after back and forth were so incredible grateful when the booking team and project runners agreed to accommodate our party of 2 and basically give us a private tour!Prom, our tour guide absolutely made our day. He was funny, kind, informative and attentive. The elephants are clearly loved and cared for, the whole day was run in a super relaxed and organic way and honestly how many people can say they spend an afternoon in the river with 2 amazing creatures.Thank you to everyone at ENP for what you do, Asian Elephant Projects for helping us to organize everything at your Saddle Off programs and Sunshine for Elephants for accommodating us and giving us the most special day!

  2. We passed a wonderful day at Sunshine for Elephants. It was fantastic to share this time with elephants. We had lot of emotions et have wonderful memories. Is was magic!Thank you for everything!

  3. I came to Thailand on my own specifically to visit and also volunteer at Asian Elephants Projects “Saddle off” programs. And, WOW, what a life changing experience! I started my trip with a week at the incredible Journey To Freedom- getting to the know the amazing herd that has been rewilded to the jungle. Also, being completely immersed in the Karen culture and community was unforgettable and made an everlasting impact on me. I was also able to arrange a day for myself at the beautiful & scenic Karen Elephant Serenity! This was the highlight of my trip as I sponsor their young elephant “Heng Heng.” I was welcomed there with open arms, was treated to a fabulous meal, spent time with the project leaders and of course- the 2 gorgeous elephants. It’s a small but MIGHTY project that I highly recommend you put on your list of must visits. Thank you Asian Elephant Projects for all you do and I cannot wait to come back again this year to revisit both projects and more!!!!

  4. If you want truly ethical places to visit elephants I can highly recommend visiting one of these projects. They exercise the highest standard of welfare & the well being of their elephants takes priority over pleasing tourists who want to bathe and/ or ride the eles. It is so rewarding to just observe the elephants being elephants, interacting with each other, foraging in the forest without the use of hooks or chains. The guides, mahouts & owners are knowledgeable & welcoming. The projects are located in stunning scenery & a tasty lunch is provided as is transportation from the city.

  5. Such a lovely experience, went with one friend and we were really well taken care of. Super punctual pick up, then a lovely walk with 2 elephants quite far en in the jungle, not like other elephant places too close to the road. The elephanta were walking freely and wildly, we bathed them ( only one wanted to get into the water and they respect doing what the animal wants). Super respectful of the animals, we helped making some of the food and learnt their customs. We stopped to have lunch in a lovely spot in the jungle, making together with our guide pad Thai and having other local plates and coffees and teas. We ended up the day with water rafting in the same river we bathed the elephants, following by some fruit and cakes. A truly enjoyable experience , 100% recommended!!

  6. We had the most incredible experience at the Karen elephant home. The elephants looked so happy and relaxed and the guide, owner and families in the community were welcoming, friendly and we learned so much about the culture and elephants. It’s great that they avoid tourists bathing the elephants and anti-riding them. I would recommend to everyone considering an elephant day trip. There were also puppies and a lovely dog! 10/10!

  7. Had the MOST wonderful day at the Karen Serenity Project, hanging out with Kham Noi and her adorable baby Heng Heng, enjoying walks through the forest, bathing and mud bath. Love that you fit in with their day not vice versa, unlike some sanctuaries where they make the elephants bathe several times a day for tourists which is unnatural and stressful for them. This was a small group – 7 – so not intrusive/noisy. Perfect

  8. An unforgettable experience and a trip of a lifetime. I was spellbound and humbled by the extraordinary opportunity to see these beautiful animals up close. The visit was handled professionally and it was clear how much love and respect that everyone working on the projects had for these extraordinary creatures. Unlike so many other gimmicky experiences that I have seen online eg which involve washing the elephants (they do not need washing) or riding them (they deserve respect and distance) this visit was respectful and spellbinding. Highly recommended for visitors who love elephants.

  9. Had the BEST DAY with the Majestic Elephant Tour with a lot of tasty food, delicious fruits and of course meeting the elephants! If you’re looking for an unforgettable, one-of-a-kind experience, I can’t recommend this elephant tour enough! The amount of love, dedication, and care put into this project is simply incredible. Every moment felt magical, and it was clear that the elephants were treated with the utmost respect and compassion. Trust me, you will have enough time with them as only small groups are selected. The river rafting at the end did this tour completly perfect! Thank you SO MUCH for this incredible experience!

  10. Learning about and raising awareness of the terrible abuse and mistreatment elephants endure to become docile is crucial. It is everyone’s responsibility to understand this reality. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of initiatives like Asian Elephant Projects, we can witness the situation firsthand and support their ethical approach to caring for these magnificent animals. I loved the experience; the only close interaction we had was helping to feed them a small amount of fruit. The rest of the visit focused on observing the elephants in their natural behavior, with no activities that restricted their freedom. If you’re looking for an ethical elephant project, this is the one.

  11. Memorable experience for my family. We really enjoyed the relaxed environment to feed and meet the elephants. The guide was helpful and answered our questions. Everything was well-run and organized. Lunch exceeded my expectations and got us ready for the whitewater rafting which was so fun.

  12. We visited Majestic Elephant Project. For those looking to visit an ethical elephant sanctuary: this is it. The three elephants live in nature and all have their own caretaker, who watches over them. They can do everything at their own pace, so during the walk with them, they are never rushed and you may have to wait as they stop for some food, dose in the sun or search for a branch to scratch themselves. You get to feed them at their own pace (which is high), walk with them along a jungle trail, then eat a lovely lunch and prepare healthy snacks for the elephants, all the while just observing them as well. The day ends with a white-water rafting adventure, which was also a lot of fun! We also had the privilege of spending a bit more time with the owner (he came to pick us up), who is so kind, and we could really feel his love for the elephants when we spoke to him. It was an amazing experience, and definitely a worthy place to spend your money.

  13. Taking the Majestic Elephants Tour was the highlight of my trip to Thailand. It was organic and engaging from beginning to end. Our guide Waroon was such a great guy who interacted with all those in the group, took pics for us and had so many stories about each of the elephants we shared our day with. I really got a sense these elephants not just well taken care of but genuinely loved and appreciated. Lunch was not just provided, it was amazing! A full meal that was freshly prepared for the group and ready upon our arrival. My friend is vegan and she was able to eat all the same things the group did. Wamoon prepared vegan Pad Thai for her to accommodate. There was plenty of delicious, healthy food for everyone. Surprisingly good! After our visit we were taken to white water raft back down to the van that takes us back into town. The river seemed low but was that deceiving. We definitely had the white water rafting experience that made you hollar and laugh. Such a fun and unexpectedly exileraring experience that added beautifully to an already awesome day! The owner, or founder, of the project was also there to thank us for coming and helping to continue their work in saving these gentle giants. This group is definitely making a difference in the lives and well being of Asian Elephants. A well worth it way to spend a day and to give back by visiting and participating in one of the Asian Elephant Projects when you are in Thailand.

  14. It was the highlight of my stay in Chiang Mai, and I’m so happy to be able to see those beautiful elephants being good taken cared of, free, healthy and happy ?❤️ thank you for this heart warming project ?

  15. This was an amazing experience. There was a lot more time spent with the elephants than expected. Our guide provided great insight into the efforts of the organisation to improve the welfare of elephants across Thailand, including the education of others around the need to move away from inhumane treatment of elephants, and the rescuing of those elephants treated inhumanly. One of the real highlights of the trip!

  16. This was an outstanding experience and I would highly recommend the experience. We spent significant time with the elephants in a small group setting in the countryside outside Chiang Mai. It was nice to see them walking in the jungle, higher elevation. We chose the tour with whitewater rafting, which was a fun end to the tour. The staff were friendly and our tour guide was knowledgable.

  17. We were part of their Majestic Elephant project and had a fabulous day. Prompt collection from our hotel and drive to the hillside. We had a truly peaceful experience walking with the elephants at their own pace in the lush green vegetation. Lunch was a delicious, freshly prepared Pad Thai , with a selection of salads and sweet and sour vegetables. At the riverside we prepared elephant rice cakes to feed to the elephants, together with freshly cut watermelon slices. The elephants then headed into the water and cooled themselves off. The day ended with us river rafting back down the river.
