The absolute best experience of our lives! Unlike ALL of the other elephant experiences (including those who falsely claim they are a “sanctuary”) this place does not cage the elephants at all! They willingly come down from the mountain and chose whether they want to take a hike, get a mud bath from us, then let us rinse them off under a waterfall. Literally a dream come true for my family!
Elephantland was an incredible experience. Seeing the elephants in a more natural habitat roaming the jungle as well as bathing in a mud bath followed by a waterfall (while joined by us) was an incredible experience. We stayed the night and had an amazing dinner with the local people. The weather was very temperate at night and was too cold for mosquitos which was great. Our guide super boy was fantastic and always available. Highly recommend for an authentic ethical elephant experience
This trip was amazing. It ended up just being my boyfriend and I on the trip which made it extra good! The tour guide was brilliant. Very informative, very funny and he had great English. All the other people who work there were really nice, kind to the elephants. Very careful of us visiting and ensured we were looked after at all times. I was weary booking an elephant sanctuary, and I done lots of research- and I am happy that I went to Elephant land. It was clear the elephants were happy and well looked after. I would definitely recommend. 🙂
If you are in doubt about which sanctuary to choose, don’t look further and go here!I can officially say that I had the best day of my life at elephant land. I don’t have enough words to describe how amazing the day was.We decided to go for a full day tour and every minute was worth it.Super Boy was an incredible guide, we knows a lot about the elephants and the surroundings and was always available to answer our questions always with an awesome energy. The elephants are super super well cared for. They are truly free, and that is the best part about it, we join them in their freedom. We started the day by feeding them, then we went for a hike in the jungle with them too (literally, we really go into the woods, please use appropriate shoes), then we had an incredible lunch waiting for us. In the afternoon we gave elephants a mud bath and went to the waterfall, and wow, what a moment… We ended up the day feeding them again, and having some tea and snacks. We always had time for some pictures too. Furthermore, the locals who lived there, were super happy by having our presence there, which mad it even better. So, once again, don’t hesitate to choose this elephant sanctuary if you want a one-life time experience to remember!
My boyfriend and I did a one day tour of Chiang Mai Elephant Land and it was amazing, we would both wholly recommend. Everyone involved was so lovely- it is a village-based sanctuary and you can clearly see how well the elephants are cared for, and how everyone has their best interests at heart. Our guide Super Boy was so knowledgable and we both learnt so much about the care of the elephants and how to best look after them- he passed on knowledge that had been taught through generations in his family and village. Our day itself was also better than we could have imagined. We were picked up from our hostel, driven through beautiful landscapes until we reached the elephant sanctuary, where we were instantly welcomed with warmth and genuine friendliness by everyone involved in the sanctuary. We spent the next few hours feeding the elephants, going on a walk with them through the national park and learning about their habits and natural environment. We then returned to the sanctuary to have lunch while the elephants roamed freely in the forest. The lunch was homemade and completely delicious. This was followed by some time to relax in the sun, and then we learnt some more about the elephants. Finally, the best part of the day- we had the opportunity to swim and bathe in a waterfall with the elephants. Not only was the waterfall itself beautiful but being so close to the elephants as they relaxed and bathed was an incredible experience.Overall, Chiang Mai Elephant Land was everything we could have wanted and more. It was not only amazing to see the elephants roam free and be completely at ease, the village-run nature of the sanctuary, and the smaller tour groups meant a more personal and unique experience. We haven’t only come away with amazing photos, but also knowledge and understanding about the elephants. It was an unforgettable experience.
My wife and I had such a fun time on the full day tour! Supahboy was our tour guide and he was just awesome. Such a friendly and knowledgeable guy who was great to talk to. He knew a lot about the elephants as well as the local area. The elephants were so beautiful and friendly. It was so great to be part of their daily routine, feeding them and going on their afternoon walk with them as they coated themselves in dirt and searched for roots to eat. You can tell the elephants are really well-cared for and that their caretakers have developed such a strong understanding of their behaviors and needs. The highlight was definitely bathing with them in the nearby waterfall. The elephants and the locals were all so playful and it was so much fun splashing water on the elephants and each other. The elephants got a few splashes in as well. Can’t recommend elephant land enough!
Really great place. It’s based in the national park so the job of the staff is to look after the elephants. They offer tourists to come and learn about the elephants and help look after them. Much more ethical than other places. Learned loads and really enjoyed the experience. Had a great meal too. 100% would recommend.
One of the best experiences I’ve ever had!!!! After a lot of searching and comparing sanctuaries, I finally decided on Chiang Mai Elephant Land and I don’t regret it at all. Our guide was super nice to us all the time and very attentive. The elephants, 5 females, all beautiful, are very well cared for and above all, the most important thing, is that at no time are they forced to do anything they don’t want to do. This is important because reading reviews of other sites I found that even though it looked very nice, if you look at them they prick or hit them to do what they want to entertain the tourists, but this is not the case of this sanctuary. Besides, the site is beautiful and the experience of bathing with them in the waterfall is amazing. As an extra, the food is very good and abundant, we could not even finish it. Undoubtedly a great experience that I would repeat if I came back to Chiang Mai.
We went to Elephant Land with our 3 children. it was a truly unique experience, from start to finish. super boy our guide this day was great. one of our most important conditions when booking this excursion was the welfare of the animals, and that is certainly the case in elephant country. the animals are well cared for and are not forced to do anything. the group for the excursion is a maximum of 12 people (we were 9 people with 2 families that day). I would really recommend this organization to everyone because you are assured of an unforgettable day.
