My husband and I did a 3 day, 2 night trekking tour with Jay who is an excellent tour guide who loves to share the history of the Lahu and Ahka tribes. We are slower trekkers and he gladly accommodated our limitations without sacrificing the experience. The families that opened their homes to us were very welcoming and cooked delicious food for us. Highly recommend booking a tour with Japa Tour company.

Charlie was our translator and driver on a day trip to a rural village and he was wonderful. So knowledgeable about history, the area, language and current events. We felt like a family member was showing us around. He also really helped bridge the gap between us and the folks we were visiting and made everyone feel at their ease. We spent a day visiting the natural sites in rural Chang Rai with a guide. Without him, we would have missed out on so much as he was very helpful and informative.He arrived early and spent the entire entire day showing us the sights.The price was very reasonable, and we were extremely happy with everything from communication right the way through the day.We managed to squeeze all of the following into one day :-Hot Springs, an elephant sanctuary, waterfalls, long, neck hill tribe, rice fields, and a tea plantation
We booked tour no2, our driver and guide was excellent, really helpful and even took us to a tea plantation, which wasn’t on our itinerary. Going up into the Doi Tung hills to visit the projects up there was inspiring. No views due to burning season unfortunately. Great lunch was provided, then along to the golden triangle, best part was the speedboat along the Mekong, opium museum was well worth the visit. Our guide even took us to a local market to show us how to select local produce. Japa Tours highly recommended

We’ve had 3 fantastic days in northern Thailand, thanks to Japa.The walk in the hills, the stay at his village, the visits, transports, hotel in Chiang Rai… Everything was perfect !The lodging in the village is basic but comfortable, with a very nice setting, excellent food and very friendly people.Japa has proven a very efficient and proficient guide and tour operator… And quite a singer !Looking forward to come back and send you more clients !
We did a day tour with Japa and had a fantastic day – If you want to get off the beaten track, this is the tour to pick. We were picked up from our hotel in Chiang Rai and we spent a day hiking through the Bamboo forests with lunch cooked at Japa’s home, which is located in a traditional Lahu hill tribe village. After a delicious lunch and cups of local tea, we hiked out through the rice fields. A stop at the waterfalls for a quick swim, a stop at Wat Huay Pla Kang (Big Buddah) on the way home plus a bonus stop at the Blue Temple. We had such a great day – thank you Japa – we would highly recommend.
We had an amazing two-day trekking with Japa. During the trekking he was willing to adjust to our pace. He also explains a lot about nature, his tribe and how to cook in the jungle. We stayed at his own accomodation overnight, which was very comfortable. We can recommend Japa to do a tour with in Chiang Rai!
