Wonderful day feeding walking cuddling and swimming with the elephants topped off by a trip to a local waterfall. Tour guide Pat was great fun and very informative. Fully recommend this day tour.
Had an amazing time at the Freedom Project. One of the few ethical sanctuaries in the area. Did the half day tour and our instructor was very knowledgeable and charismatic, and kept the group laughing the entire excursion. Pick up and drop off was easy and direct, to and from my Airbnb directly. Highly recommend to anyone in Chiang Mai for a few days.
It was an amazing experience. We were able to enjoy the day with the elephants doing their daily activities free and happy. Elephants are really well take care of and they make sure visitors treat them well and explained where they were rescue and what not to do so that they don’t feel threaten. It was really fun experience and loved to contribute to su h good cause.
Fantastic! I’d highly recommend. We got to; learn about the elephants, feed the elephants, wash the elephants and walk with the elephants. The included lunch and waterfall trip were also great.
It was worth the trip. The elephants moved about naturally, and the calf of the group was very playful. Seeing them in their element. Hosts were friendly. Overall, a fun filled evening.
We did the full day tour and had an amazing time. Everyone who works at the Elephant Freedom Project was very friendly and helpful, especially our guide. We started the day by learning the background of each elephant and where they were rescued from. Everything from feeding the elephants to the small hikes and swimming with them was very fun. It was nice that it felt like while the elephants had their routine they were able to make their own choices, which made it feel more like your experiencing elephants how they would truly spend their day. The workers made sure that everything felt safe for us and the elephants. They also make sure you leave there with lots of photos!
Our guides, Pat, and Dang, were great explaining the stories of the elephants, very friendly and a familiar atmosphere. Thank you!
Put this on your list, the elephants are wonderful. The staff, Johnny, Pat, all the drivers and carers are exceptional.
This was the most special activity I did when in Thailand. Getting up close and swimming with the elephants was a bucket list experience, and to top it off getting a hug and a kiss from one of them was really cool too. Pat was a fantastic guide getting everybody in the group involved and really good to talk to and get along with. 110% recommend this.
Truly an amazing experience! We were picked up at our hotel in Chang Mai and driven to the Elephant Freedom Project. The road is a bit curvy going into the mountains so be prepared if you get motion sickness. Once we arrived we were greeted by the tour guides Pat and Johnny. They were both incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. We got to prepare food for the elephants, feed them, watch them take mud baths, and then we took a break for lunch. After lunch we hiked into the jungle to swim with the elephants. The hike is 40 minutes on a rough path with no shade – take water, sunscreen, and wear sneakers than can get wet wading through the river. Swimming with the elephants was a highlight – well worth the hike! We finished by visiting a scenic waterfall and then returning to camp to feed the elephants one last time. We were then driven back to our hotel. This is a must do experience and we were impressed with how ethically they treated the elephants!
My whole family had a marvelous time! From the moment we arrived we were constantly presented with fascinating things to see and do. Feeding the elephants was the thrill of a lifetime for my three young grandchildren, their parents, my wife and myself. Our guide Pat was a wonderful host and gave us an understanding of many aspects of the area and the work you do. I would heartily recommend this experience to anyone coming to the area.
I had the most wonderful day at Elephant Freedom Project. Pat was an amazing and funny guide. We fed and walked with the elephant in the morning. After lunch, we made some elephant rice balls before going on a 40 minute hike with the elephants. We also played in the water with the elephants. Afterwards, we went to a nearby waterfall by car and said goodbye to the elephants. I loved the whole experience and it was the highlight of my trip!
We had a great time. Pat (our guide) was friendly and fun. Given plenty of info before hand so we knew what to expect. The interaction time with the elephants felt natural and not forced. The elephants were allowed to do as they wished which was nice and you can tell the keepers care for them and vice versa. The hike along the river was great and the scenery is beautiful.Would highly recommend! Thanks to all the team for a great day out and for doing what you do for the rescued elephants. 5 stars!Marcus & Marek!
The elephants seemed happy 🙂 great experience. Best part is walking in river with elephants in the beautiful sunshine
The tour was great. Very good organisation. I did half day morning tour and we did cut sugar cane, spent time with elephants and had lunch. The guide was good as well. I recommend the sanctuary.
This was an incredible experience. One we will never forget. To be so close to the elephants who were clearly well looked after and cherished by their keepers was moving.
An amazing way to spend the day- we did the full day tour and couldn’t imagine spending only half the day. It was a great experience and you can see the elephants are loved and respected. Our guide Pat was friendly and had a great sense of humour.
