Where to begin. Charley and his crew were absolutely amazing. He taught us so much bout the elephants and made sure we had fun. They truly love the elephants and make sure they live a great life. Charley took pictures for us so we didn’t have to worry about it. All the proceeds go towards the community and making sure the elephants live a good and cruelty free life. We got to to feed and bathe/swim with the elephants which was a great.
This place is absolutely incredible! The people are so kind and hospitable from the very moment you arrive! our family bungalow had a gorgeous view of the river, our intro to elephant care course was so informative and special. our guide Charlie was amazing. he truly made our experience so special, as did the rest of the staff! we learned so much about how chai lai supports the local village and the time with the elephants was amazing. we cannot thank Chai Lai enough for this one of a kind experience, it’s truly something we will never forget. we can’t wait to return!

I am currently staying in this beautiful resort. The place is located in a mountain. Early morning today, I watched the sunrise and it was just amazing! A tray of simple breakfast composed of hard-boiled egg, yogurt, pastries and fruit was served on my terrace. Shortly after, the elephants came in for the morning wake up call where they go to the terrace or balcony of the bungalow and guest can feed them with sugarcane and banana. A delight to watch. I spent half of my day feeding, walking and bathing the elephants at the river. My guide, Khun Charlie is very knowledgeable and a caring one. He gave me several pointers about the elephants and how to care for them as well as their age and behaviour. He also explained where the money goes when a guest buys the tour package – goes to help feed the elephants so they can survive and help the women in the village for their livelihood – Daughter of the Rising. Please look for him and his twin brother, Khun Tiger. Also, I must commend Khun Cha for her warm welcome and accommodating spirit. She is in-charge of the resort. I’ve never seen anyone as much polite and always smiling as her! She always look happy and helpful. Overall, I am happy with my stay here and as a hotelier working in a 5-star hotel, I am used to a luxurious environment. But this is a breather! Sometimes we need a place to re-energize, relax, live simply and commune with nature. I must say, this is the place to get away from all the noise and hustle bustle of the city. This is a highly recommend place in Chiang Mai. ♥️Thank you so much for the great service and experience.
This place is unbelievable! The pictures you see before you go are true to form for the experience you will have at this place. The staff are the most friendly and hospitable that I have ever experienced anywhere in the world. They make you feel like special guests even as family! You can tell that the resort lives their elephants and treats them very well and lovingly. And the elephants are friendly and very gentle with guests. Many close up encounters to enjoy including feeding the elephants. The bamboo cabins are very nice and clean as it seems you are living outdoors in nature itself! Great mountain views and fresh air galore. The food is made to order at anytime at very reasonable prices and very delicious! All types of food, Western, Thai, and Karen. This is a place I would love to return to over and over again! Dreamy and great for nature lovers! Quiet and serene day and night. Did I mention the staff is awesome? 😊

First came here in November 2019 with our 17 month old daughter and loved it, we saw how well the elephants were being treated and that they were roaming everywhere. We came back for a day trip in January 2023 with our now 4 year old daughter. They changed location to be closer to the locals. We could see how well the elephants are still well taken care of and our tour guide Thep is so friendly and informative about the elephants. His English is very good, he understood us and we understood him. He also took very nice family photos and videos of us. Thank you!

The number 1 thing I recommend when visiting Chiang Mai. The provided a ride from our hotel and old town which made it all so easy. The Bamboo rafting, lunch by the waterfall, and bathing elephants was AMAZING. Kapo is the best guide!
Our stay at this Chai Lai Orchard was absolutely beautiful and one of the best parts of our trip to Thailand. The property itself is stunning, offering a serene escape with the natural beauty of its surroundings. One of the most memorable experiences was being greeted by elephants each morning at breakfast. The food on the property is consistently delicious and the drinks were equally superb.A highlight of our stay was spending a day with Artid, who guided us in caring for the elephants and exploring the surrounding landscape. His attentiveness, especially towards my children and injured husband, was deeply appreciated. Artid’s extensive knowledge about the elephants and their care made our experience with the elephants not only educational, but personal! One favorite moment with Artid was lunch. He allowed me to help with the preparation of our meal along a river while my children swam. Even though the meal with cooked in bamboo on a small made fire, the food was sooooo good. We ate on huge banana leaves and used hand carved bamboo utensils (he carved us some to take home) that only added to the authentic experience. Overall, Chai Lai Orchard exceeded our expectations. The combination of exceptional service (Thank you Artid), breathtaking environment, and unique experiences with the elephants made our stay truly special. We highly recommend this property to anyone seeking an immersive stay in Thailand.
