  1. Our van arrived at the terminal as the ferry was leaving, so we had to wait about 40 minutes for the next one to depart. Our group headed to the terminal building to relax out of the hot sun until the next ferry arrived. The terminal offered a couple of small vendors selling hot foods, a small convenience store and restrooms, so our wait time went very fast. After boarding the ferry, one is free to roam the boat as they offer a small food concessions and restrooms. The ferry ride was peaceful. As you exit the ferry and depart the terminal grounds there are shared taxis lined up outside to whisk you away to your hotel destination. You will have to wait until the shared taxi is full before it will depart unless you want to pay a stipend to have a private truck. Tell the driver your hotel and they will quote you the fare to your hotel.

  2. The last time I was on Koh Chang 25 years ago there were no cars, buses, taxis or trucks. In fact there were no roads, only a dirt track that ran halfway down the east coast of the island. All that has changed and now there is a constant stream of traffic running up and down the island. You must be careful driving, for the road is narrow and winding, and is some places has very dangerous switch back curves. You get the car ferry from Ao Thammachat Pier, which is near Laem Ngop in Trat Province. It costs 120Baht for your car and 80Baht for each passenger. The crossing takes about 30 minutes.

  3. For both going & coming it was an ordeal from previous years , ticketing has doubled per person while the services have gone down disappointingly for the ferry While gong to koh Chang , it was a 3 hours wtg in scorching sun,While it was very nice ,when the rain drops, please hold brooking

  4. Everything at the pier is okay, except some staffs there. It is okay that they don’t understand English, but we cannot forgot their rude behavior to us. I always admire Thai people about their good behavior in everywhere except this place.

  5. We have been told the ferry runs every 30 minutes – today Tuesday June 11 – now been waiting for one hour – the previous ferry was full – it’s rather on an hourly schedule – be aware if you have flights – good luck

  6. The ferries contain large amount of cars and motorbikes. Upstairs has a very widely seats and easy sight seeing. You can see Koh Chang very clear from the view.

  7. We drove from Bangkok to Koh Chang Ferry (Aow Thammachat pier) in five hours with a few stops for restrooms. The queue for the ferry was about 30 minutes. The fee for is 80 Baht a passenger and the fee is 120 Baht a car. The ferry trip was about 30 minutes. The ferry is organized and clean but the ferry is dated.
