Fort of Ku-Hueang is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Bumrung Buri Rd., 50200, Thailand
This fortification ruins are located on the south west corner of Chiang Mai old city. Unfortunately in 1950s a fire destroyed majority of the walls and gates, so the gates were reconstructions. Traces of the castle walls can be found on the corners. An interesting tale is told by the locals about this fort. They relate that a very rich but cruel king used to rule Chiang Mai. One day a man named Hueang was caught trying to steal somethings from the king’s treasure. He was executed and buried at this place.
Part of the old city wall which used to border all the way alongside the moat.Unfortunately, it’s now a ruin but it’s great to walk along the moat and have a look at what used to be there.Information signs near the ruins say they provide more information when you read a barcode but the website doesn’t work.
Best to see it on the side with water on it from other side looks very plan water in the foreground makes for a better viewing and photo op.Wouldn’t say it’s an attraction in Chiang Mai more something you walk past when exploring the old city.
