Pai Circus School is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Thailand
An excellent venue for the Thai Juggling Convention. Beautiful backdrop to workshops and when you get too hot you can grab a cheap beer and slip into the pool. The community vibe is excellent and the community meals are so tasty.
Dreadful. Don’t spend hard-earned money to stay here. If you want the atmosphere, stay nearby (so many cheap options) and come for the parties. But the dorms are so overcrowded & therefore dirty and smelly. It’s overpriced and terrible and they get away with it by selling it as a “true backpacking experience”. You don’t have to put up with bad service, terrible conditions, & overpriced beer. Rise above, friends.
If you want a backpacking experience with basic accommodation and little sleep, this is your place. The place is not all bad, during the day and night around the pool and bar is fantastic for socialising, with organised events and many open minded people. However expect a lot of pretentious traveller types that sort of hit a lot of stereotypes, nice people but not my kind of people. I stayed in a 12 person dorm located right near the local cockerel farm and sewers, so sleep was rare in the potentially bed bug infested bed. Probably wouldn’t stop here again, and would just pay the entry fee to come during the day. P.S Pai is unreal
This spot is pretty epic, with a beautiful view of the natural surroundings, a peaceful bar/chill area, friendly night-staff, and slightly helpful day staff (helps to know a lil Thai language). Walking distance into town and a great place to return to after a happy shake from the Sunset Bar nearby. Take the walking bridge from close to the bus depot, DON’T TAKE THE ROAD on foot unless you want to get cooked. Our little hippie shack was cosy and equipped with a mosquito net, but wasn’t as comfy as other rooms we’ve had for the same price. If you’re happy to pay for the location then it’s not too hard to deal with the shack for 1-3 nights.
there is no circus! i mean there are a few drunk people playing around but there is no shady spot to serious train or jam. few is nice, pool is dirty, loud really bad mainstream music playing till midnight. beer is super expensive but you get a free sunset shot, breakfast was surprising good. rooms are ok, shower was just a dropping thing!
Was staying here for four nights with a friend. It’s like a 10-15 min walk to town. You get free breakfast, free dinner, there is music the whole day, nice pool, bar etc.. You get what you pay for. Private room really small (just one bed & a fan) but it’s fine. Staff is really nice and fun. Each day there is a different activity like beer pong, yoga or quiz night. The sunset view is stunning!
Having read a lot of mixed reviews on this hostel, we booked for 3 nights in private rooms due to the cost (really quite cheap!). The rooms themselves were fine but minimal, with fans but no air con. Beds were a little uncomfortable, the mattresses were incredibly soft but had evidently lost all their support. The hostel’s facilities left a lot to be desired. Only a handful of showers and toilets for the 130+ people maximum capacity, and the showers themselves bad virtually no water pressure – on several occasions they were just a pathetic dribble of water, with the taps sometimes also not working! The vibe was incredibly party based, with the bar (expensive) playing loud music until fairly late (although the music did finish around midnight). The ‘infinity’ pool was also a bit of a let down, much smaller than insinuated in the photos. Having to pay for breakfast whilst paying for a private room also didn’t make much sense, although the breakfast buffet was fairly good value for money when we did pay for it.This hostel served a purpose for myself and my friends, and the staff were friendly and obliging, but we moved onto a guest house down the road in which we found private en suite bungalows for much cheaper. If you are looking for a quiet and cheap place to stay I wouldn’t recommend this place, as there are plenty of beautiful guesthouses and other hostels just a stone’s throw away.
This is the worst hostel I have ever stayed at!The reception staff are rude, the toilets and shower rooms are extremely dirty! All of the tickets and tours they offer are over priced! But the other travellers I met there where lovely.Amazing pool, Amazing views, Great bar and social area and loved the fire pit!
Overpriced for the room, which was a hot metal box in the mornings with no air conditioning. No WiFi in the rooms, and WiFi in common areas was extremely slow. Breakfast was an additional 100 baht, for a little fruit, bread and waffle. Nothing to put on the waffles – no yoghurt, condensed milk, Nutella or anything. Staff were rude and unhelpful and ignored me when I tried to ask questions, then hissed at me. Drinking water is available but you aren’t allowed to fill your bottle. I’m a circus instructor at home and they only have very basic ground circus equipment – just home made sock poi and bamboo sticks as a staff. One Diablo. No aerial equipment. You must pay an extortionate amount to rent a towel or a yoga mat, and leave a huge deposit. There are signs everywhere threatening fines of 1000 baht for anything you do, such as taking too much food from breakfast.Really terrible experience. Places far closer to town cost less and have air con. The only reason it’s good is because of the people you meet there.
The showers were really gross and they smelled terrible. The dorms were really good with AC, the WiFi was just in the common areas and everything was for an extra price that made the stay really expensive.
