  1. Not really bad, but lacking any attraction worth mentioning. Seafood restaurants a tad overpriced, Views mediocre for this Nationalpark, the west coast is the place to go!

  2. The majority of people coming to Koh Chang head straight down the west coast, the most touristy area but it also has quiet relaxing beaches & resorts. If you really want peace & quiet & want to get away from it all, head to the east coast. Staying in Bang Bao, (South east of the island) I decided I needed to see the sunrise from the other side. I left my resort at 4am on the bike, it took 1 hour 45mins but when I finally arrived at Salak Pet I was not disappointed. The journey was totally worth it. I witnessed the most breath taking sunrise since arriving on the island. I sat there for an hour taking it all in. Absolutely stunning. Driving around the area I passed a little fishing village, proper traditional thai houses & shops. There are a few resorts but at that time in the morning the only people I came across were Thai (kind of refreshing & a change from bumping into westerners every step of the way) Every single person greeted me with sawadeeka & a beautiful beaming smile. The most friendly Thai people I’ve come across on the island. Obviously not affected by numerous tourists day in & day out, they went about their day in their own traditional way not having to change their ways to please westerners. So refreshing & wonderful to see the true culture of this country. I stopped off at a little cafe run by P Noy. A lovely, friendly guy, with a warm welcoming smile. Behind the cafe is a little homestay & I have plans to go back there to stay a few days or maybe a week. Some say there are not many attractions but to me there was so much, just to get a taste of Thai culture like that is enough to bring me back there again.

  3. This is where our house is half on the sea half on land Salak Pet is the last real fishing village on the island and being on the quiet Eastern side there are many ‘secret’ places to visit if you have the local knowledge. Mangrove swamps teeming with Fireflies waterfalls empty beeches which will all disapear when they complete the road around the island I fear.

  4. I think that not too much of the travellers getting there but if you take a motorbike and you´ve been already fifth time on this island you need something else to do than sunbathing on the same beaches every year and then you just think that you must go and explore something new. There are no sandbeaches but restaurants on a pier like in Bang Bao in the south of Koh Chang. The resaurant was average but still worth to visit with the motos. It is still the daytrip despite it`s only some 30 km from White Sands.

  6. Really cool…like time went back abt 50 years. Real local people, no rush, no trafic jams…like a lot, must see place no.1 in East coat.

  7. Point no.6,7 and 8 in my sightseeing tour.Thai Buddhist temple,Mangrove forest and lighthouse bay view of Salak Phet.

  8. We did the 40 minute drive to Salak Pet. The view is pretty good, but there’s really not much to do. If you do go there, stay one night to chill as it’s a long way to go for basically not much to do.

  9. Salak Phet Bay is located on the southern part of the east coast of Ko Chang. Not a lot of tourists find their way there, so it’s a sleepy, laid-back place. There are some nice seafood restaurants there if you take the time to seek them out.
