  1. I took Sonja’s cookery class yesterday with my teenage daughters. We laughed all day. Sonja is a great cook with lots of hints, tips and recommendations. The atmosphere is very laid back. Lots of conversation. We learned a lot more than cooking! The recipes were great and the food marvelous. We really enjoyed the day and we have lots of recipes to try when we get home.

  2. Highly recommend, we had a blast. Sonja is very knowledgeable and a good instructor, plus we laughed the whole day. The meals we prepared were the best we tasted in our 10 day visit to Thailand. I’m age 39 male, was joined by my brother-in-law and his age 13 daughter. On our own nights latter we visited a local market and had a better understanding of the produce available to this region. Additionally we greater appreciated the specific flavors each dish provided at resturants and it opened our food adventures in unfamiliarity territory. This cooking class heightened our food experience in Thailand. With recipes she sent with us, we’re ready to bring the wonderful flavors and aromas home the the US. Good facilities and she makes you feel welcome in her kitchen, we all got lots of hands on. She’s a wealth of local knowledge.

  3. Food was good. Info about cooking was good.Lots of smoking during eating…awefull.Street cats all over the place.. awefull.Overall hygene…cleaning was not invented here.No value for your money.

  4. We took the small class with two dishes on the afternoon. We chose our dishes in advance by mail and even had a brief phone call to clarify the agenda. It was a very edutaining afternoon and we learned much about dos and donts of thai curries. As Sonja had a very serious education in Germany the pedagogical approach may feel a bit harsh here and there. Just take everything with a sense of quick-witted humor and soak the essential information you need. Though Sonja already received a Michelin star in the past, the whole class feels like cooking at friends. You will taste products with a finger and reuse your cutlery. Be prepared that she is smoking as most of the chefs I know. If you are searching a sophisticated cooking class this might not be for you. But if you would like to have a sincere introduction into the thai cuisine, you can share a very informative and entertaining time with Sonja.

  5. this “cooking class” will definitely be remembered.in no case can i understand the good ratings.the cooking class itself is not a cooking class . it is just a poor one-women-showthe hygienical circumstances are less then good.the “star chef” she supposedly learned from would turn with horror. that’s why I don’t believe the story with the star chef.So now to the cooking course itself, which was not one. Because only sonja cooked and I was allowed to stir a little in the wok. I can do that already! I don’t have to pay 2500 baht for that. The prepared dishes were not “royal” as advertised – they were not even basic. Instant powder as a flavor enhancer. a few lime leaves – that’s it. no more fresh herbs or fresh ingredients. the vegetables that we had to use for cooking had already been cut when I arrived. they had dried and it looked that they had been cut the day before. this is not what freshly cut vegetables look like.beware of booking a lession at that cooking school. It seems that someone has to generate a MAXIMUM income and spends minimal effort.2500 baht for 1 person is a lot of money – espacially when you have to pay for almost nothinggood advice to everyone: stay awayp.s. i think she writes her good ratings herself and deletes the bad ones.otherwise I cannot understand the good ratings

  6. we paid a high price for this Thai cooking lesson which was more than basic a simple tutorial on the internet would have been the same. the hygiene is more than deplorable the work plan was very dirty already when we arrived and cats are walking everywhere in the kitchen. in short, probably one of our worst experiences in the land of smiles

  7. Time absolutely flew by during our fabulous fun class with Sonja in her home . She’s a gem , a larger than life character that totally knows how to cook THE most amazing Thai food and to impart her mass of knowledge with laughter and her clear no nonsense approach . Felt it was a really personal experience being in her home and working on a one-one basis was brilliant we learnt so much !Can’t wait to get started on our selected recipes when we go home!!This was so much more than a lesson it was an experience and a highlight !!!(We were so engrossed and took hardly any photos🙄)

  8. Nothing short of brilliant. Tips an insights from a Michelin chef. Thank you Sonja for sharing yiur passion and life with us
