On our first night at Koh Samui we chanced upon this private taxi while looking for transport back from Bo Phut to our hotel in Sala Choengmon, late at night. During the journey we worked out a deal with the driver. Couldn’t have made a wiser decision. He goes by the name ALEK and his nickname is YAI. This guy singly added tremendous value to our entire trip. Functioned as a guide cum general factotum for the rest of the 5day trip. Rates were fair and his driving was safe and good. In addition to the driver the car comfortably seated the 4 of us. He speaks reasonably good English and worked as our translator and negotiator with most shop-keepers, on our request. YAI is the go-to guy if you’re looking for a good trip. Is careful and caring about his customers and doesn’t get familiar. Honest bloke to boot. We left our belongings and also forgot our phones in the car and never had a chance to complain. We almost convinced him to follow us to Bangkok – that’s how good he was.
