Our resort offered the city tour, which was a 6hr. excursion. It provided so much information as to the way of life in Koh Yao. We booked hoping it wouldn’t rain, but it rained on us all day! We were soaking wet, but our tour guide Sak and team, was just amazing! I felt awful seeing everyone out there to show us their way of life during the rainstorm, but they were out there (we couldn’t cancel). We were able to see monkey picking, how rubber is made, we were able to swim with the elephant in a sanctuary and acquired so much information about the history of the locals and their path forward. It was very informative, very inspiring and just lovely! Our tour included lunch at a very popular place (the name evades me at the moment)I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants an adventure while in Koh Yao (don’t get discouraged if it’s pouring rain, it was still wonderful)!!!PS, we were able to try a dessert the locals are accustomed to, but is not known to the world… a coconut/rice mixture cooked in coconut leaves pictured below, it was amazing ?!!!
We booked the safari tour and were taken on a wonderful and memorable informative trip into the daily life of Ko Yao Yai.Besides the Elephant Sanctuary (wonderful), we went to the rubber plant forest to see how latex is made, then we learnt how rice is produced; it was also fun to see the coconut picking monkeys and the small family museum/office with object from the recent past. Our guide Sak is a truly wonderful and passionate person and he was happy to assist us organizing other day excursions and activities duting our stay on the island.Definitely recommended for learning about the life of islanders besides the tourist aspect.Thank you so much Sak for your kindness and your friendship, you made our stay in Ko Yao Yai wonderful ??
Our tour guide Sak lives and breaths his village. He is so willing to show his villages old way of life with a friendly smile. He has a way of making you feel comfortable and at home.I highly recommend going on the Koh Yao Island Safari tour, it’s so informative. Make sure if mosquitoes think you’re tasty like they do for me, to bring mosquito repellant! I got eaten alive but Sak gave me the last few drops of his repellant. Very thankful that I went on this tour!
Amazing tour with heartfull interesting man. Real life in a real village. Monkeys. Coconut. Rice. Latex
Absolutely great and fullfilling experience. Sak told us so much. A heartwarming guy who grew up here with his family and knows a lot. Thank you so much
This is a great way to learn about the local way of life of the people of Koh Yao Yai. Our host Sak was very welcoming and genuinely interested to show us how him and his ancestors used to live on this island.
Thank you Sak for the awesome tour! Learned a lot of interesting things and had a very nice lunch. Sak was a great tour guide – had a lot of information, was very pleasant and funny.
It had been truly amazing to learn about the people on Koh Yao Island! Sak the owner is a great guy with a lot of hospitality
This was really cool. It’s not a safari as we were expecting at first but that didn’t matter, we got to learn about the culture and the work which the Thai people in this area have done for many years including producing rubber and growing rice. The host was super friendly, very knowledgeable, and spoke excellent English. We got to see the monkey up close, who climbs the coconut trees and knocks them out for them to collect. You can’t get too close to him though as he only trusts his owner, but it’s fun seeing him in action. You then got to eat at the hosts restaurant which is all on the same road and the food was really good.I remember explaining to the host what a Scarecrow was which was cool.
An awesome excursion-one of the best. Sake starts by giving a brief history of the farm.and some of the old.equipmemt and tools. The walk through the village included information and tasting of local fruits and trees as well as explanations of how the locals worked with monkeys to harvest coconuts. The tour included rubber tapping and a demonstration of rice milling. This was followed by visit to a lobster farm and then an excellent lunch -.some of which was harvested from the farmSak is an excellent host and guide and his knowledge is a joy to share. The village is clean and a credit to all involved.Fully recommend this trip, it’s different to the many many island tours on offer.Thank you
This is a MUST DO tour. A fantastic guide who is very passionate about sharing local knowledge with you. We learnt so much about how people live and have lived in Koh Yao Yai. So much knowledge about the plants and trees! And we loved watching the monkey go up the tree and throw down a coconut! And the visit to the lobster farm was amazing! Y
