We wanted to go for the jungle trek with a private group of three of us and also wanted to do a few other activities so Charan organised the trip including any other activities. We opted for the hardest route possible and we have done trekking in the past and it was challenging but we loved every minute of it one of the best experiences I had in Thailand and I was there for two months. Charan made the experience so much better his knowledge and stories are amazing and he is also very funny he became a part of our group. He also took some amazing pictures for us I couldn’t recommend him enough. There is also a easier route if you would prefer that. Charan also cooked for us over the two days arranged for us to stay with a local tribe overnight and any issues we had Charan was there for us. He also organised the events so that after a hard days Trek the second day we did some light trekking and done the bamboo water rafting which was so relaxing and fun.
It’s been a wonderful hiking experience to the second highest peak of Thai mountains. Charan designed a private two-days-tour for me and my husband: We’ve been to the top of the mountain watching magnificent sunset, staying one night on the mountain on a camp side and watch sunrise next day. After that Charan took us to another track through a forest to a mountain village. The beauty of Thai nature can not be described in words. We’ve been so lucky to experience and feel it. Charan loves nature – he showed us different flowers and plants, took our attention to small details. He is a great guide with good sense of humor and an open heart. He organized everything absolutely professionally and smooth. He took care of everything: organization, preparing lunch, dinner, breakfast, logistics and so on. He also sent me back a piece of clothing I forgot in a car. Thank you once again for this great job! If you want to be close to nature and experience it’s beauty and calmness – this would be a perfect tour for you. Highly recommended!
Charan is an awesome guide and a really fun and interesting guy. We completed the 3-day, 2 night hike up Doi Chiang Dao, with a sunset and sunrise summit either side of our nights stay at the top. The trekking was strenuous at times but on the whole would be suitable for most individuals who are willing to take on 5-6 hours walking on consecutive days. Charan cooked up some incredible food both nights (1 night at the campsite, 1 at the homestay) and for lunch each day. Charan’s English is as near fluent as can be, and we spent the best part of our days discussing all corners of Thai culture, the plant and wildlife we came across on the trek and joking amongst ourselves. I got the recommendation from my sister after she and her partner completed the same trek two years prior to our trip. I can’t speak highly enough of Charan and the trek as a whole, and can see why my sister was so insistent on me getting in touch with Charan once we knew we were keen on the Doi Chiang Do trek.Thank you one final time Charan, I wish you all the best for the future. If you’re interested in trekking up the incredible Chiang Dao or doing any other trekking in the Chiang Mai area then Charan is definitely your man!
The guided tour we did with Charan was the highlight of our 2 weeks in Thailand! It was just awesome walking in the jungle with our children, guided by Charan and helped as well by the friendly Boka (who speaks English and as well a bit of Dutch). After trekking, we reached a remote village, without any tourists. It was very nice to simply listen to the sounds of nature, while a delicious dinner was being prepared for us on a wood stove. Going down the river on a bamboo raft (and I confess that before starting this last adventure I felt worried for my children) was a memorable experience! I’m glad that everything went very well and that we had such two amazing days in Northen Thailand. Definitely, we and our children will never forget this tour!
My sister and I had Charan for guide and he was really kind and funny, we really loved his jokes! He also answers all your questions and makes the trekking that suit you. We wanted challenging and it was! He knows the best spots for photos and he kindly was our photographer. We totally recomended it if you want to see real jungle, incredible waterfalls and rice fields
Wow. We are both totally speach less after the 3 days gorgeous trek with Charan and his sherpas. We have absolutely nothing to complain about, such a genuine tour, with unbelievable views, amazing guide and host family where we slept the second night. This is the real deal jungle trekking!
We got to know Pong through the hotel staff.Subsequently we contacted him for traveling around town and taking us to the airport. Pong speaks good English and chinese. A jovial guy who is older than he looks. Do contact him when you are at Chiang Mai looking for someone to take you around. +66 8611945594We will certainly contact him when we are back in Chiang Mai.
What an amazing trip, I did a 2 day 1 night trip walking through some amazing scenery with our able guide JoJo. He taught us about the local environment as we trekked (including tarantulas – from a safe distance!, bats and much more). He taught us about the culture of the local people and their languages. Finally, they also looked after my bag for two days whilst I trekked which was good of them.Thank you JoJo!Khoi!
We went to doi luang Chiang doi with charan. He was ILL-PREPARED for the paperwork required and was late for the mandatory briefing (he almost missed the whole session and we couldn’t understand any of the Thai at the briefing). After trekking 2D1N, we were hoping to have comfortable accommodations to clean up but we were brought to a village with NO RUNNING ELECTRICITY AND RECEPTION without being informed beforehand. The villagers were not used to tourists and HOSTILE to us. We were to sleep on the floor in a HOUSE WITH NO DOORS with our host and the ROOM WAS FILLED WITH INCENSE. The only toilet was a DIRTY COMMUNAL TOILET with GAPS in the WALLS in the middle of the village. The male villagers were also loitering around the toilet suspiciously. We asked to leave the village to town that night and I’m glad we did. My husband and I woke up with a massive headache the next morning as though we had been drugged.Altho the nature views was great. In all it’s a terrifying experience that we will never wish on anyone
We are a family of four adults and spent four weeks in Thailand. The private trekking tour in the Mae Tang district Charan organized for us was definitely the highlight of our holiday. We have learned, experienced and done so much that the three days actually felt like a week or even longer. Throughout our tour Charan kept us off the beaten track so that we had a truly authentic and genuine experience. Accommodation in the hill tribe villages was simple, but clean and cosy. Charan has a personal connection with the people and knows their language. So we felt we were not anonymous paying guests but visitors who, at least for one night, became part of the life there.Charan is a very cheerful, responsible, well-organized and knowledgeable guide who is very willing to share his knowledge about the abundant culture and nature in Thailand‘s north. He is a very skilled guide and a splendid cook. If you consider booking him, his website (www.trekking-chiangmai.com) can serve as a first approach, but it‘s best to contact him directly via e-mail ([email protected]).
