  1. The trip to the market was fascinating. The owner is so knowledgeable about Thai and Lanna history. We got to pick out the dishes we wanted to cook before the day of our class. We were not hurried and had plenty of time to enjoy food the food we cooked around the table together.

  2. We ended up being the only 2 people in the class, so it was indeed a private class. Lyn is excellent, she is a great instructor, has a great sense of humor and enriched our experience. This is the first time in the many courses that we have taken over the years where the market tour included the instructor purchasing some of the actual foods that we were going to be cooking – including the chicken, pork and some vegetables. The class is held outside of the city — about 20-30 minutes away from the old town (depending on traffic). The space is large and comfortable and clean. We prepared a variety of dishes, and were even sent home with leftovers!!! Lanna cooking is different from Thai cooking. Another wonderful experience in this Land of Smiles.

  3. Don’t walk, run!! This experience with Chef Lyn was one of the best excursions I have ever experienced (and not just in the realm of cooking!). My husband and I are in our late 30s and we did a private class. Everything was seamless from top to bottom, from booking and getting the info and guidance we needed, to the full-day experience itself, to the time we got back home. We loved every minute! We shopped at the local markets, learned so much about northern Thai cuisine, local ingredients, traditions and history. We cooked, laughed, ate, and exchanged stories. I highly recommend the lanna cuisine experience over Thai food as this is something so special and unique that you can’t find elsewhere!! If you’re looking for a cooking class experience in Chiang Mai – THIS is the one you have to do. Lyn was amazing and her talents, knowledge, laugh, kindness and relaxed vibe is everything you need and more.

  4. Chef Lyn was very professional, pleasant, and knowledgeable. The cooking class was very well worth the time, money, and effort and was one of the highlights of my recent visit to Chiang Mai. Needless to say I now have a better appreciation of Lanna / Northern Thai dishes because of the hands-on experience in the class. Chef Lyn, her daughter, and her staff made the class so enjoyable and a nice learning experience. The venue’s location made it very authentic as well. A shout out to the very pleasant woman (a member of the staff) who showed me how rice is traditionally prepared in small baskets for serving. The school comes highly recommended!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  5. We had a fantastic cooking experience with Lyn. We loved going to a local market with her and selecting the fresh meat and vegetables for the dishes we chose to cook. We went to her lovely home in the countryside near Chang Mai and cooked in her garden. She was really friendly and made you feel at ease straight away. All the food we prepared were delicious and we can’t wait to try them at home. Thoroughly recommend doing this when you are in Chang Mai.

  6. My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Love Chiang Mai Cooking School; definity one of the highlights from our trip to Thailand!Lyn, the owner and our teacher/guide for the day, picked us up at 8:30am. It was just the two of us for the day’s class. We first went to the local market, which was an incredible experience in itself! Lyn showed us around, introduced us to Northern Thai ingredients, and she purchased the items that we needed for the dishes we’d be preparing. Lyn clearly goes to the market often and knew many of the vendors personally. After we got our ingredients, we headed to Lyn’s “classroom”, about a 30 minute drive, which felt much shorter because conversation with Lyn was a delight! When we arrived, Lyn introduced us to her two assistants who would be handling cleaning dishes and some prep work through the duration of our class. Lyn then gave us a tour of the facility and grounds, introducing us to the tools and equipment we’d be using. Most dishes involved cooking in clay pots over open charcoal flame. The steps that involved deepfrying would be done on a propane stove.Side note, Lyn noticed I was already very hot and sweaty (I don’t do the best in the heat). The kitchen is open-air and we’d be spending the day cooking over hot clay pots. There was a large tub of ice water that had bottled water, beer, etc. Lyn placed two towels in the ice water and suggested I place one on my neck and switch out as needed. Very thoughtful and a super nice touch! We spent the next 5-6 hours cooking and eating under the guidence of Lyn. A good amount of time was spent with a mortar and pestle, so we got a bonus forearm workout. We truly had to work for our dinner, but the effort was worth the result. Everything turned out amazing!10/10 would recommend for anyone who loves to cook and wants to learn about Northern Thai cuisine!

  7. Wow! We did the full private custom Lanna cooking class with Lyn and it was absolutely fantastic. I’ve done one other food tour in Chiang Mai (Thai Akha, who are also very good but much simpler) and this one was the real deal. Lyn customized a menu for our group of five. We made over 20 dishes total including dessert. Admittedly, it was a very long and hard working day, if you want a more casual experience, Lyn has a less intense version. But our group of serious home cooks loved the variety and depth of the class. The market tour was also really great, Lyn introduced us to a large variety of snacks and prepared foods that are specific to the Lanna cuisine. The food is mostly cooked over charcoal grills in her outdoor kitchen on the outskirts of town, which adds to the authenticity and charm. 10/10 and highly recommended for anyone that wants a serious deep dive into Lanna cooking.

  8. My wife and I took Lin’s Lanna cooking class while in Chiang Mai and we had the most incredible experience! We did this while on a two week vacation in Thailand/Vietnam for our honeymoon and this class and experience still managed to stand out as one of the most fun and memorable parts of our trip.We really loved how involved the whole process was and it truly is an “experience” vs some other cooking classes I’ve taken or read about. Starting off the journey in the market with Lin was a great way to get exposure to the market with a local who can act as a guide. It could definitely be intimidating to navigate alone but Lin made it inviting and fun. Note that you will get the ingredients needed for your customized menu (which you get to choose), but Lin will also ask if you are interested in trying other various local foods and will get some for you to try. For example we got some delicious local fruit and Thai iced tea. Then we returned to Lin’s home and spacious outdoor kitchen to do the actual cooking and preparation. I think it was the perfect level of serious kitchen work while also being very fun. Lin is very fun and easy to talk to. She answered my (many) questions with enthusiasm and you can tell she really has a passion for this, especially when you are excited and engaged. We also toured Lin’s garden and learned about lots of herbs/vegetables.We had some amazing food while in Thailand but the food we prepared ourselves may have been the best! You can’t beat the freshness and authentic preparation. I would recommend this to anyone traveling to Thailand with any interest in cooking. Also for those that are less interested in the Northern Thai Lanna food options, Lin offers a more standard Thai menu that might be more palatable.

  9. Absolutely fantastic experience. Lyn was so welcoming and knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. We started at the market purchasing the items we needed for the cooking class and learned a lot in the process. The cooking class was really fun, we learned how to make 5 dishes and the food delicious.

  10. Well organized and run fun cooking school with Mr. Nice…. cooked up a storm and ofcourse over ate! Highly recommended…
