  1. If you want Elephant rides ……. Don’t come here. If you want to raft down a river ……. Don’t come here. If you want long neck tribes …….. don’t come here. If you want an authentic and unique trekking trip then DO COME HERE. We did a 3-day trek with Mr. Tee, he guided us to a Karen village where we stayed with a family who cooked dinner for us on an open fire. The next day we trekked down a river to a camp site where dinner was prepared by Mr. Tee and other guides, we bathed in the river while camp was set up. On the last day we trekked up river and through a cave.

  2. We had an experience of a life time on our three day trek with Mr. Tee! It was great to meet the people in the village, eat, sleep, talk and laugh with them. The scenery was amazing, every day a different environment, travelling from the farms through the community forest, the river and the cave to enjoy. Mr. Tee is an absolute professional with many years of experience, we couldn’t have been in better hands.

  3. This was our best experience in Thailand. If you love nature and are keen to learn about traditions of the Karen tribe people this is the best choice. Our guide Uncle Tee knows so much and could explain everything in good English.

  4. Best experience of my life!! we decided to do two days of trekking, had more time available I would not hesitate to do more!thanks above all to our guide Tee, kind, nice, helpful. . without him these days would certainly have been different.Tee he was able to participate and introduce us in the context in an excellent way, giving us extremely detailed and useful knowledge and advice ( even at a personal level )Thank you so much!!we will bring with us a wonderful memory and hope one day to return and relive another experience with you!Umberto e Lucrezia

  5. I couldn’t recommend more this experience! They came to pick us up at our hotel in Chiang Mai and took us to a market to buy some food (that we would cook on the fire later on) and then to the jungle. It was definitely the best experience during our trip in Chiang Mai!! The guides were lovely, they took care of us ensuring we were always okay and they explained us all the marvelous secrets of the jungle. We saw some many plants and insects we never saw before and cooked food from the market and from the forest on a fire we lighted up close to a water fall. It was amazing, a bit challenging (but not too much, no one of us was an experienced trekker) and so so authentic and heart warming. You could really tell the guides knew all of the secrets of the jungle and that they deeply respected the nature. Also the food we cooked together was soooo tasty, definitely the best experience of our trip in Thailand and I would recommend this to everyone!!

  6. We spend 3 days and 2 nights with Pooh Eco Trek. It was a fantastic experience! The first night we stayed with a hill tribe family. The hospitality of the villagers, getting to know the family, understanding their way of life was really interesting. The second night was spent in a remote bamboo hut by the river. We bathed in waterfalls, waded through bat caves, and hiked through the jungle. The vegetarian food was very tasty, and we were amazed at what our guide Tee could create with just bamboo! Tee was a great guide, very knowledgeable and he shared a lot of information with us. We were really pleased to know how much the company does to support the community and the environment. The assistant guide Nikon was an absolute delight, always smiling and so kind to his pets, it was really heartwarming. His dogs accompanied us on the hike and it was really fun to watch them run, swim and hunt!Overall, a really special off the tourist track experience, highly recommend for open-minded adventurers!

  7. If you consider doing this trek, DO IT!! I can absolutely recommend this 3 day trek, it will be an unforgettable experience. You will get great views of the farming landscape, learn a lot about animals, plants & tribal village lifestyle. They cook delicious food, which you buy on the market on the way out of chiang mai.Don’t expect high comfort for sleeping/toileting etc. You will cross several brown rivers, getting wet up to your hips, you walk 180m(?) In a river through a pitch black cavewe, you get sweaty hikes, but option to jump in a clean refreshing river the second evening. This tour is indeed very ‘eco’, small groups, guides taking best care of you and help you if needed to cross rivers, climb big steps etc.

  8. We tryed the trekking experience – 2 days and 1 night. It was amazing!Once arrived we stopped for a quick lunch in a small beautiful place on the street. In the early afternoon we started a walk ending in the village where we slept. The locals are really welcoming and kind. We cooked our dinner with them and eat all together. For the night they gave us one of their houses equipped with a mattress, a pillow,a sleeping bag and a mosquito net.My suggestion is to bring one more blanket or a warmer sleeping bag because during the night temperatures are quite low.In the morning the locals prepared our breakfast and then we left for the second day of walking, a bit harder than the first day but really suggestive. Not to mention the guide Wee, a very helpful and kind person who wonderfully guide us through this experience.I absolutely recommend this experience, you won’t regret it and you remember it for the rest of your life!

  9. Joined the 3days survival trip with two others from Chiang Mai on very short notice. They made it work anyway and guided us through a quite unforgettable 3 days and 2 nights jungle experience. The video is right – there is rodent trapping & hunting and living from the land. The most inspiring however are the Karen, which share their expertise and joy about the jungle with you, for this arguably too short period. They are tough mothertruckers, on top of that.So pack your shoes and curiosity, leave your nutritional comfort (micro)zone at home and do something truely real for once. Try everything they offer you, look at everything they show you, bombard them with questions, do what they do, and leave the rest to the spirit of the jungle (as they do). You won’t forget this one, any bet.

  10. I went on the 2 day, 1 night trek with a group of 6 friends and I could not recommend this trip enough! It was such a great way to see a hill village, how people live and the beautiful jungle. Tee was our guide and extremely knowledgable about not only the Karen Tribe but also many of the other groups in the area. He answered all of our questions, cooked us an amazing meal over a fire at the host family’s home and translated conversations between us at the host family. On the first day we stopped at a local market (all costs of food were included in the trip) where we were the only foreigners and were able to learn about local spices, fruits and vegetables and even sample a few things. We had a very tasty meal cooked by Tee and then we started our hike to the village where we would be spending the night. While the distance isn’t very long we went in the beginning of May when it was quite hot. When we got to the village, Tee showed us around showing us how people prepare rice, store their chickens and most importantly introduced us to our host family. This experience was intimate, staying in the extra room of a traditional family home (wooden, on stilts) and eating and drinking the local cuisine together. It is hard to find these kinds of immersive experiences while traveling and this one was surely unforgettable. They brought sleeping mats (very thin – dont expect the best nights sleep), blankets and mosquito nets for us so there was no need to bring anything additional while we were traveling around Thailand which was great. The next day after coffee and trying tea that Tee had brought us from his own garden, we headed out for a trek along the river and through a cave. We were much more in the jungle which was really beautiful (and cooler!). We stopped for lunch at a waterfall where we swam and Tee brought us sticky rice in banana leaves while we were wading in the water and cooling off. If you want to spend more time in the village learning about village life then do the 2 night trip as you could spend the second day in the village instead of heading into the jungle early like we did. If we were to go back we would love to do that!

  11. If you’re looking for a raw, authentic experience then this is it. My boyfriend and I had an incredible time… something we will never forget!!When we booked we got quick responses from the owner Pooh and some info for the trek. We paid a deposit ahead of time, which was OK for us since I was sure I wanted to do it. As the Trek approached we had a meeting at our hotel with one of the staff who pretty much just asked us to pay the final amount of the trek and gave very little information, just telling us that we will be picked up in the morning. I didn’t receive a receipt so I panicked a little, but After messaging, Mr. Pooh, he immediately sent me a picture of the receipt. We then got picked up in the morning by a nice toque toque that had Bluetooth speakers water and power. We went to a morning market, where we are were allowed to shop around. The tuk tuk bought us some snacks too! Then we drove for about three hours to our destination where we had delicious lunch and met our guides. One English speaking man and one local villager.Next we hopped into a truck and literally stood up while we drove through the mountain side. Insane views, quite a thrill of a ride. Dropped off again and started our trek. We stopped often along the route to harvest plants, learn bout the culture, drink water, snack and chat. Was more informative than expected and our guide spoke good English! The guides brought extra water and bananas. We then arrived at the village, walked around, learned how to make rice, helped cook. “Talked” with villagers, smoked local tobacco, ate food and drank some local whiskey. We slept on a firm bed with a pillow and sleeping bag and net in a wooden house. Next day we slept in, had breakfast, then started to hike where the mist covered the valley, we heard gibbons in the jungle and we learned more.Hiking along the river, swimming, eating delicious food cooked from the morning, some small waterfalls. Even got to see rare gibbons wild in the jungle! Thanks to the local dogs that hiked with us and barked when he smelled the monkeys. Was SO cool. Then hiked along the river through a sweet cave and ended with A ride in the truck again with Incredible Views back to the first lunch place where our tuk tuk picked us up and brought us back to Chiang Mai. He Stopped 10 times To help us find beer ?Overall, would absolutely do this trip again. Keep in mind this is a very authentic experience not the most comfortable ever… you will get dirty and wet… Have some uncomfortable rides, but it’s part of the adventure!! If I were to give any feedback, it would be for Mr. Pooh to communicate a little bit more before the trek about exactly what to expect what to bring and more information in general. Also a receipt upon full payment from the staff.I am an adventurer and very prepared so I had a great time but if you require air conditioning, pampering, cleanliness, smooth rides, perfect English and such this isn’t for you. Yeah it’s far out of the way but the scenery is worth it… you get to see the real Thailand. Don’t forget to tip your guides! Thanks for the best time ever <3
