Very authentic 3 day trip to mountain jungle with villages of karen and lahu. Nice hikes between villages, elephants in natural environment, exciting bamboo rafting with local people. Ping was the perfect guide, in an ideal way also including our kids. Absolute highlight!
Amazing family adventure. Ping was a fantastic, very knowledgeable guide, who spoke excellent English and was great at involving our teenage kids in learning about the rich resources of the jungle and hill tribe life and culture. We loved both nights of homestay in the villages, especially the second night at Thungyung. Rafting was great fun, as was trekking. We had the opportunity to learn about rice farming and had fun planting it in the paddy fields. Authentic, personal and very real experience. Thankyou so much Ping for helping us live our dreams.
Amazing Trekking tour! We did the 2 days 1 night tour with our guide Ping. He did an amazing job showing us all sort of tips and tricks in the jungle, he knew everything about the jungle. The first day started with the elephants, we washed them in the river and than started walked 1 hour to a waterfall where we got an amazing lunch. After that we hiked to his own village where he was raised and still lives by now. We met his family and got another amazing portion of food for dinner with all sorts of specialities. We slept in an wooden homestay with a stunning view. (Also build by Ping himself). The second day began with pancakes, after that we took off and walked a while to a village where we started our bamboo rafting. About an hour later we arrived at our final destination where we got another portion of food for lunch before Ping brought us back to our Hotel in Chiang Mai.Highly recommend this one!Greetings Joppe
Once in a lifetime experience with guide Ping who is open to let tell you everything he knows about nature and the jungle. Beautiful hike and unforgettable bamboo rafting experience! 👍
We would like to thank Ping for this unique experience. The personalized approach and Ping’s expertise were truly impressive. The food was amazing as well. We highly recommend this trekking adventure!
The tour was amazing. Ping showed and explained so many things from the jungle that you can actually learn something there. The food at the tour and the „hostel“ was amazing.
We had an amazing day with Ping in the beautiful nature around Chiang Mai. We visited caves, hot springs in the jungle , had lunch in a very special place and ended climbing the sticky waterfalls. We created this special program together in advance via whats app. Very smooth. We wanted our day to be fun also for the kids age 5 and 8. The day was AMAZING. Ping is the best guide and super with our kids. He has a lot of knowledge as he normally can survive on his own in the jungle for weeks. All was super interesting and would definitely recommend. Thank you!!!!
Our Trek with Ping was the best thing that did on our trip to Thailand. We did the intermediate route with a stay at Ping’s homestay. The whole experience was amazing Ping collected us from our hotel in Chiang Mai and drove us into the jungle via a local market. We then hiked through the jungle for around 5 hours. Food and snacks were plentiful and delicious. The route was challenging and Ping and his intern Looknai did an amazing job of helping me as I don’t have the best balance! When we arrived at the amazing home stay we had a beautiful en suite private room and a delicious dinner prepared by Ping’s family. The food was some of the best we had in Thailand and there was more than we could eat even after a whole day trekking. The next morning we had a delicious Thai breakfast before doing a shorter hike followed by rafting. The rafting was fantastic and a great way to see the jungle. ping’s knowlege of the jungle is incredible, he was constantly showing us animals and games and was so knowledgeable and passionate about us having a great experience. We ask a lot of questions and ping was happy to answer them all including teaching us Thai! We then had a delicious pad Thai before being driven back to Chiang Mai.I could not recommend a trek with ping more I hope we will be back to do another soon!
We did two trekking tours and had a great time with our guide Ping. We first did the “Intermediate” trekking tour in two days including an overnight stay in a Karen village in the jungle. The jungle was impressive and beautiful and Ping was such a great guide, both full of knowledge (he grew up and still lives in the area) and entertaining at the same time. The lunches and dinner provided were plentiful and delicious. The accommodation was great too.We liked the tour and our experience with Ping so much that we decided to stay longer in Chiang Mai to do the “Hard” trekking tour with him. For this tour we spent one night in his homestay in his village (Lahu) which we enjoyed a lot. It’s a wooden house in the jungle with a wonderful view on the nature full of banana trees and rice fields. His family made us a delicious dinner and breakfast. After that we walked for a full, intensive day in the jungle the following day. Again, we had a wonderful time. The trek was more challenging than the first one and Ping was always there to assist us in the toughest sections of the trek. He again shared his knowledge of the jungle (to show us the different plants and fauna of the jungle and explained to us the way of living of the local villagers) and we were impressed by the skills he showed us. The two tours we did with Ping were one of the highlights of our stay in Thailand.
Our experience with Ping was incredible! We had a wonderful time with him, hiking in the jungle, boiling eggs in the hot springs, and sharing his culture with his family in his wonderful guest house, just in the middle of the jungle. We’ve spent two unforgettable days with him, making all types of local activities and eating the best meals we had in our entire travel. We learned so much from him, and we had the best time of all our travel to Thailand. He’s an incredible guide and we would love to share another experience like this with him. Thank you very much Ping, hope to see you again. We recommend this tour 100 percent!
Ping is an excellent guide, welcoming, cheerful, and full of joy for life. An incredible trip filled with experiences and sharing. During this journey, you will make various stops, discover stunning places, learn some very amusing tips, explore remote villages, meet locals, and enjoy amazing food.
Ping is the boss of the jungle. He knows everything and everyone in and around the jungle. He adapted to our trecking level to make us feel good. It the second time I did a treck with Ping and it was amazing once again.I recommend Ping and the Chiang Mai Eco Trekking 100%
We had a fantastic time on our 2 day/1 night group trek with Ping. He is a wealth of knowledge on the jungle, villages, and Mueang Khong area where we trekked to his Lahu village. Before starting the trek, we stopped at an elephant sanctuary and had the opportunity to feed the elephants from chopped banana trees and sugar cane. We learned about the sanctuary efforts (this one helps elephants that were previously in abusive situations such as a circus or elephant riding) and allows them to roam freely. For the trek, we were given options as to how challenging the trek would be. We opted for the “intermediate”, which was Ping’s hunting trail he uses from time to time. The trail was quite rugged and certainly off the grid (no other groups use it), but it was quite rewarding. We hiked up a river bed before climbing a steep hill to then descend into his village. Along the way, Ping would point out interesting plants and animal tracks and explain the traditional uses for the plants. The home stay we had in the village was also very comfortable and had a beautiful view of the village and valley it lied within. The home stay had a bed with sheets and a pillow and even a shower for us to use. At night, we had a nice campfire and even lit a traditional lantern into the night sky. Ping explained many aspects of village life, farming, and history of the tribes in the area. On the last day, we rafted on a traditional bamboo raft down the river and were even able to steer the raft for certain sections. Throughout the experience, all the food provided was plentiful delicious and Ping had bottled water for us. We always had enough. Transportation to and from your accommodation on both ends is also provided. Additionally, the communication with Tik upfront for booking and questions was good and efficient. She answered all our questions timely and with detail. Lastly, this is a family run operation (not a huge tour company), so it feels more intimate and more a part of the local community. Ping has many family members helping (his sister manages bookings and questions, his uncle helps with the raft, his wife and sister-in-law help run the home stay). If you want an experience that is more authentic and off the beaten track, then this is the perfect trip for you.
