  1. My mam, dad, 9 year old brother and I spent a crazy day with Tic recently. When Tic came to collect us ( right on time ) she talked us through the various menu options and about what we liked to eat. Based on this, we chose to cook the Massaman chicken curry, chicken laab and a minced chicken omelette. She then took us to the market and explained all the different types of fruit and vegetables and everything else. She even helped me and my brother to order everything in Thai. It was great fun. After the Market, she stopped for a minute to buy something else we needed and then asked my dad to drive us to her house! This was another random funny happening! We stopped at a rice farm on the way and saw a massive pig and then my dad drove us to her house. We met her husband Martyn and talked to him while Tic made us tea, then when we finished that she brought us out to her lovely herb garden where me and my brother picked some we would be using. We then started to prepare all our ingredients. I got to make passion fruit juice, my brother and my mam carved pineapples while my dad minced the chicken. We then did other jobs like dicing onions and chopping tomatoes. When everything was prepared, we lay everything out neatly and took some pictures of all our ingredients. Then we started on the massaman curry. We had previously asked Tic for chicken breast but she had insisted on using chicken bone. Therefore we didn’t enjoy the massaman as much as we hoped to. Also she used the curry paste from the packet because it was too difficult to make, and we didn’t have enough time. We kept tasting things as we went along so that we would know how to make them spicier or milder. After everything was cooked, we had a big lunch with all our food. Our chicken laab was delicious as well as our minced chicken omelette and massaman curry and Tic gave us loads to bring home for dinner. Afterwards, we lit a traditional lanna lantern, fed a gazillion fish and Tic even brought us to Singha park! Me and my dad did the zipwire and Tic took loads of funny photos for us. Tic is a funny, really enthusiastic and an overall lovely person. We really enjoyed her cooking course and her enthusiasm with everything ???. From Louise, 11 years old.

  2. Tik is definitely a little ball of energy and had my family and I laughing all day long. My family was visiting me from the states so we decided to do a Thai cooking class for the day. Tik took us to an authentic Thai market, taught us so much about the Thai culture and showed us some sights around the city. Her house in the countryside felt a little bit like home and her hospitable charm topped it off perfectly. It was the perfect family day! I would recommend to anyone, even if you’re not a cook, it’s a day well spent!

  3. Tik was amazing. We learned a lot and had so much fun. Definitely recommend 100%! She drove us around sight seeing after cooking which was unexpected. So nice and fun!

  4. What a great day we had with Tik, lots of laughter and the food was amazing. We choose what we cooked and then enjoyed such a beautiful meal. This is a must do in Chiang Rai.

  5. We loved meeting Tik and learning to cook Thai with her. Not only did we cook some amazing dishes (that we will bring home with us for sure) Tik went above and beyond by taking us on a tour of the Chiang Rai region where we got to see the White temple, the Tea plantation, Singha Park, Chiang Rai markets and even fed local fish. Top lady with great sense of humour, we would definitely recommend anybody to take part in this class as it was so much more than just a cooking class.

  6. Undoubtedly one of the most fun, knowledgeable & craziest ladies I have ever met – we loved Tik from the moment we met her! She’s so inspiring & spontaneous & such a fun person to be with. We were part of a small 4 person-group – Suzanne & Elina from Holland were lovely company & enjoyed themselves as much as we did.The day was not just all about cooking either ~ it was a day of never ending surprises-from a fun-time at the market with her chitterchatter & infectious giggles – Tik has truly found her vocation. She had us in stitches but also taught us so many amazing things. She’s very knowledgeable about cooking and all things Thai. She & husband Martin shared their home with us for the afternoon & we were encouraged to pick fresh herbs, fruit & veg from their beautiful garden to supplement what was bought at the market. After the food prep & cooking, during which we learned useful techniques, we then proudly ate together the feast we had produced! Later we too had the lantern ceremony, fish feeding, a tour of Singha Park at sunset. All of which made for a thoroughly full & memorable day.Tik really enjoys what she does & is an “excellent” photographer (as she will tell you?‼️) Martin is the man behind the scenes, hwho clearly has a very special person in his life. We thank you both for a truly unique experience & can hand-on-heart say this is an absolute MUST DO for anyone visiting Chiang Rai. ?? ??

  7. We had a wunderfull day with Tik. She was really very funny.First we went stopping on the lokal market ,and after that,we went to her house, where we met her husband, also a very nice and funny person, together they are a strong combi! We learned a lot in her own kitchen and after that there was too much food left, so she gave it to us for a later moment. We laughed a lot with her. After the cooking, she showed us a lot interessant places in the environment of Chiang Rai. It was really a great day, we will never forget Tik….

  8. After some friends recommended Tik to us, we asked her if she would spend the day driving us around Chiang Rai and be our tour guide. We didn’t actually do the cooking course. She said yes and in the morning, we discussed the different options of things to do and see, plotted out our day and she drove us around and gave us a tour of everything we wanted to see. Her English is very good and her knowledge is very good too. She is absolutely bonkers and plays by her own rules. She will quite often put you in an awkward position by shoving other people out of the way to take the perfect photo or man-handle the food from someone’s market stool just to explain about it to you (and then not purchase) – but as long as you can get over the awkwardness of it all, you end up with brilliant pictures, information and experiences that you wouldn’t have got without Tik being Tik. She is a very funny lady and we had a lot of laughs all day.She is also very generous and bought with her about 8 different types of fruit and some home made passion fruit juice and was constantly trying to feed us up throughout the day. We got to try lots of fruit that is exclusive to Chiang Rai, that we probably wouldn’t have tried otherwise. The only negative is that she loves to take your photos for you. In fairness, she is a great photographer and really has an eye for a good photo – but you try getting your phone back off her… I like to be in possession of my phone at all times, particularly for snapshots of things I find interesting, but she wants to be the one taking photos and won’t give you your phone back.Overall, had a brilliant day with Tik here. She is a fantastic tour guide and I will recommend her to all my friends, mainly because of her personality. In my opinion, you can’t visit Chiang Rai without spending a day with Tik.

  9. Myself and my new husband spent a very fun day with Tik whilst on our honeymoon. We didnt want to do any cooking so we asked if she would just take us around some sights instead. We did so much sightseeing and Tik was incredibly knowledgeable, fun and engaging. She is quite a character and she made us laugh a lot!Tik is also very generous and turned up with lots of interesting fruits for us to try and some delicious passion fruit juice. She also brought with her some ice cold flannels to help us cool off which I thought was a very nice gesture. We were extremely pleased with the day and felt like we saw everything we needed to in Chiang Rai.

  10. I’ve just spoken with Tik. Unfortunately, she stopped doing cooking classes six months ago. I’m writing this note so that travelers would take it in consideration when making plans.
