How grateful I was to have had the opportunity to once again tour with my friends Vena and Sunan in North Thailand! Having had such a stellar experience last year, I returned to explore a new part of the country I did not have time to see during my last visit! This time I was a single traveler. I knew that the investment which I would make to hire a private guide would be worth it. Who wants to travel in such a way that you are a slave to some tour bus schedule? Not Me. Sunan and Vena Tailored the perfect getaway-exploration package which had plenty of interesting places to see, but yet also were tremendously sensitive to the pace which I needed in order to feel relaxed. What I really appreciated about Suantangia, is their ability to relate on such a warm personal level. I felt like I was returning to visit family… and that they were so tailored in terms of exploring things that I thought would be out of the pan of what they could, or would even be interested in showing me. I am delighted to say that I was wrong. I gained new insight into the country of Thailand with its’ remarkable natural beauty, historical background, and diverse cultural traditions. Ahem, did I mention food!? Every place visited for food, whether traditional Thai, or Western was immaculate. I would suggest something, and immediately I was brought to the place which met my desires. My guides, Sunan and Vena – were the warmest and most fun people anyone could ask to travel with. Sometimes, I just wanted to stop the tour, drink coffee, and just enjoy these fantastic people. I laughed, and was moved by the things which they even remembered about me from my last tour. You can tell that their relationships with the people wherever they go are well maintained! I discovered further how this remarkable team is not only known, but truly respected and sought out by others in the hospitality industry to bring the best to their customers. I saw this at a wonderful new hotel in Chiang Mai where I had the privilege to stay at. I had a particular need and desire to learn a bit about a particular institution of learning in Thailand. I was brought to the campus and was given all of the information I desired! I know that I willl return to Thailand again next year. Hopefully, I will bring others with me, I look forward to giving my friends and family the best experience they can have! I know that we will be in great hands as we all tour with suantangia!… Thank You Vena and Sunan!… I can’t wait to do it again!
Mrs. Vena of Suantanja was delightful to work with in planning our adventure.Everything was well planned, and our guide Sunan was fun to lead this experience.Sunan is well versed in all the locations that we visited, and he also encourages you to experience the uniqueness of the food and the sacred sites. The canopy walk and all the food suggestion provided memories not to be forgotten. The private van was perfect for our group of 5. It drove well and climbed the mountains with ease.We have traveled with private guides in 14 countries, and this experience was the best. I also challenge you to have Sunan translate the real Thai name of Bangkok, Thailand.I highly recommend Mrs. Vena, Sunan, and Suantangja Travel!
My husband and I have been to SE Asia many times, but this was our first time bringing friends and family along for the trip. I was a little nervous planning a motorbike tour for the group, but Vena was extremely helpful through the planning process and made many recommendations based on the information I provided her with on the group. Once arriving in Chiang Rai both Vena and our tour guide, Sunan, were extremely welcoming. We left Chiang Rai and headed north for the day. We stopped in some of the villages to see pineapple farms, bamboo being processed, Chinese temples, and lunch on a bamboo raft. Lunch was fantastic and one of the highlights of the morning. In the afternoon we continued to make our way to Mae Sai and stopped at the Opium Museum and Golden Triangle before checking into our rooms for the night. For dinner Sunan took us to a local BBQ place to make our own food on the grill. It was very different from how we cook at home and kept us entertained through the night! The next morning we left to head back to Chiang Rai for our transfer to Chiang Mai, which we also planned through Vena. We made a couple quick stops on the way back to see the monkeys outside of Mae Sai and for some of the most wonderful roadside pineapple we have ever tasted! The transfer to Chiang Mai was in a large van with plenty of room for the 6 of us to spread out a bit and the driver was excellent. Once in Chiang Mai we made a surprise stop at Celedon to see pottery being made and to make our own delicious steamed rice and banana treats which were brought to us later that night. We checked into our rooms and our driver and Sunan picked us up at night to meet Vena for a relaxing dinner and performance at the Cultural Center. It was a great way to end our 2 days of fun in the North! I cannot thank Vena and Sunas enough for making everyone so comfortable, welcome, and relaxed to experience Northern Thailand. They went way over the top to make sure we had everything we needed and took amazing pictures which they provided to us at the end of the trip. I would highly recommend to anyone traveling in this area.
I had reached out to Ms. Vena a few months before our trip to Thailand. We were staying in Chiang Mai for a few nights but wanted to visit Chiang Rai. From the beginning, Ms. Vena was incredibly helpful. She suggested different places for us to see, and though our time in Chiang Rai was limited, we were able to narrow our itinerary down to a few key places (White Temple, Black House, and Golden Triangle). She even helped us book our bus tickets to Chiang Rai, all we really had to do was show up and she had everything taken care of!The day we arrived, Ms. Vena and our guide, Sunan, picked us up at the bus station. Sunan is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide and was able to tell us so much about the places we visited. This was our only guided tour during our 2 week trip to Thailand (we hired drivers for the other cities we visited), and it was nice to experience having a guide. I would not have learned as much about the places we visited had we not been on this tour. I will admit I felt a little stressed because I wanted to make sure we had enough time to visit the places on our list, but we were able to accomplish that! Sunan also took our photos at the sites we visited and even gave the photos to us on a CD before we departed on our bus back to Chiang Rai.I wish we had stayed in Chiang Rai overnight, but if we do return, we would like to see Ms. Vena and Mr. Sunan again!
I have been to many countries and by far, Vena and Sunan are the most enthusiastic and passionate guides I have ever encountered. They are committed to satisfying our needs based on our profiles and they did their homework even before the trip started, which I have never seen before in other guides. On the first day, we were greeted by them and the polite driver, Tip, with a basket of tit-bits and other necessity for our consumption during our tour and we were pleasantly surprised by this warm gesture. Sunan is very knowledgeable and tech-savvy to use a drone to take videos for us while we were at Chiang Rai. He is very observant and is fast to respond to our needs. Vena even bought a birthday gift for my sister-in-law!Overall, we enjoyed the food in the restaurants that they recommended and their sincerity really touched us and made the trip wonderful. I would suggest something and immediately Sunan bought me something to try the taste et we went to a related place which met our desires.The private van with Tips in North and Dew in Bangkok was really good. They drove well and climbed the mountains with ease. 2 days into opening the thailand biennale in 2023, we took a chance with Vena of SuanJangTa travels and are glad we did. New to the many biennale locations in Chiang Saen, she took them in her stride and always brought us safely and promptly to each destination. She always was mindful of keeping time and was a very gracious and skillful driver throughout.
We took a private tour to the temples and Black House with Vena. She was lovely. Punctual and spoke great English. Highly recommend her!
