You need to walk inland form Kai Bae Hut Resort, at the end of the dirt track you will see some sings for the waterfall. A trail leads alongside the side of the river. You walk about 15 minutes in the jungle. The waterfall is quite big but not many people go there. It isn’t on maps of the island. I found it on the iamkohchang website.
Located in the center of the island, the Kai Bae Waterfall is located in a beautiful tropical rain forest. It took about 20 minutes to hike in the 1.5 kilometers over a easy to semi difficult trail in the jungle. The trail is well marked and there are safety rangers stationed at both ends. It was the rainy season, so the waterfall was very powerful. Well worth the hike. FYI – free parking is offered inside the park gate. Don’t get side tracked by private people outside trying to steer you into their paid lots.
This is a beatiful waterfall a bit outside of the village of Kai Bae. You have to pay the landowner a small fee and can then walk along the river for about 500 meters to the waterfall. There are some difficult passages so you should be fit. There is a small pond below the waterfall where you can swim. Not many tourists come here so the chance is high that you will be there all by yourself.
We headed to the waterfall from Lonely Beach – paid the landowner 40 baht for entry and then walked the 500 metres to the waterfall. The walk was pretty wet so rather slippery and unstable at parts. We had the waterfall to ourselves and only passed one other group on the way back. There was a pool for swimming but we decided against it as we were getting badly bitten by mosquitos.
