Khao Rearub is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 23000, Thailand
I went there in November last year with my daughter. drove motor cycle from Khlong Chao and then walked. It’s quite accessible, not a difficult walkAs with all exercise in the tropics, best start fairly early morning and not mid-dayWe passed water buffalos, many old trees and I must say that the surrounding is greatVery nice half day trip
Riding from the main road following the sign. The Name “Rearub” means the battleship because this small hill shape looks like the battleship when you look from below site. There is the Prince Chumphon Veterans Memorial Shrine on the top.
We walked all the way until the river. It was nice to enjoy the nature for a while. You should use repelent for the mosquitos. Hiking there is not so hard but you go better during early morning when is not so hot
Khao Rearub is a mountain in the mid-south of tropical rain forest-covered Ko Kut.Its name is Thai means Battleship Mountain, which features a most unusual rock formation that Thais think is shaped like a battleship. Their imagination must be better than mine because I could not see it. I should not say that too loudly, as Thais consider this a sacred place.Khao Rearub is part of a nature trekking trail. A secondary unsealed road takes you to the beginning of the trail.
In the middle of the pristine rain forest on Ko Kut is a large rock that someone in the past decided looked like the bow of a battleship – hence its name, Rearub, which means battleship in Thai.If you use your imagination you can see the outline of a ship’s bow.The rock’s battleship image has been enhanced by the installation of ship’s railings on top of the bow and a flagpole that flies the Royal Thai Navy flag. There is also a bronze statue and monument to the Prince of Chomporn, Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse (1880-1923), one of the numerous sons of King Chulalongkorn. The Prince of Chomporn is credited with being the father of the Royal Thai Navy.Be careful as you approach Khao Rearub, particularly if it is wet, because the ground is slippery. It is also a difficult climb up the side of the rock if you want to stand on top of the “bow”.
No more slipping and sliding..a new road has been constructed past the Punk Kangaroo all the way to Kao Rearub
We had two friends visiting from Australia and took them to Ko Kut, so we had to revisit some of the old sites for them to see.Khao Rearub – “Battleship Mountain” – is a large rock formation in the middle of the rain forest that looks like the bow of a battleship if you use a little imagination.Locals have installed some railings with life buoys on the top to enhance the look of the bow of a battleship, and on the top is a shrine dedicated to the Prince of Chumphon, who is revered as the father of the Royal Thai Navy.If you visit during the wet season be careful on the path leading to Rearub because the rocks can be very slippery.
The stone formation is actually reminiscent of warships. The monument at the top is a little too lavish. It’s a shame that the explanations are only in Thai. There’s also a little tree knowledge on the way there. You can do the trip, but you don’t have to.
