  1. About a kilometer of glistening white sand makes Ao Phrao one of the ongest and most beautiful beaches on Ko Kut, an island on the Thai-Cambodian maritime border. The beach is lined with palm trees and the turquoise water is so clear you can see right to the bottom, even where it is quite deep. The beach is free or rocks and the slope into the water is quite gentle, making it ideal for families with young kids. There are five different resorts and homestays on Ao Phrao, but you do not have to be staying at any of them to enjoy the pleasures of this fabulous beach. There is an old Thai fishing village at the estuary that runs in Ao Phrao on the western side of the bay.

  2. Just swim at left most side of the beach, front of Vinarm resort where water is calm and so crystal clear. After front of Vinarm, the waves are wild and so carries with it a lot of garbage perhaps from mainland. Beautiful sunset. It’s about 20 minutes walk from Ao Phai. Going to Ao Phrao you can take taxi about 100 baht. Going out of it there are no taxis so better book or ask taxi to wait for you. Else you walk make sure you do that before dark. Or rent motorbike which is available at Ao Phrao exit.

  3. We must admit that this place is a unique natural spot as long it’s possible for to the natural environment to keep up with the human nature. We do hope that it will be preserved the best possible way. It is a wonderful experience to be here.

  4. I visited the beach, which is very nice with its white sand, surrounding hills with green forests, and the wooden quay in the middle. The area between the hotel and the beach is also very nice, green and well kept, makes your stay the more pleasant. The whole property is quite relaxing. As the weather was a bit cloudy, I decided to try the massages offered between the beach and the restaurant. I chose the “back, neck and head massage” for 400 Baht, and as I like it really “deep tissue”, i chose the only man of the whole crew to do it. I ended up with a really good massage for ca. 40 minutes, which also included some work on legs and whole body.Recommended!

  5. We rode down to the beach at Ao Phrao and what a mistake that was. The sea was nice and the waves very powerful but the beach is in a state. The end of the tracks to the beach found us on a litter strewn beach, empty bottles, food wrappers, it just looks a mess and with no one to take care of it. We cooled off in the sea, got back on our bikes and did not returnAvoid this area

  6. I really enjoyed staying at this beach. It’s very broad, with beautiful, jungle-covered hills framing it on each side. The water is clear, and on some days, there are some waves, which is really fun. On other days the sea is completely calm, and takes on a lovely blue color. The beach is split in half by a small bridge. The left side is occupied by three resorts, which are tasteful and hidden behind the trees. The area here is very clean. The other half is occupied by a coconut plantation, and while I’ve seen it get cleaned, there is some trash on this part of the beach. There are some insects around, but they are easily kept at bay with either DEET or citronella repellent. In the past, we had experienced some horrible sand fly bites on Koh Mak, and thus were worried it might happen here, but there was nothing of that sort on Ao Phrao, at least in October. The beach is very quiet during the week, and I would recommend it to anyone in need of peaceful rest.

  7. We decided to have a day out whilst staying on Koh Kood to go and visit as many other beaches as we could to get a real feel for the island. This beach was very attractive with many of the local fishing fleet moored within the bay. You have to walk through the hotelgarden to reach the public beach, but this is not a problem.White sand and blue water – Lovely”

  8. We stayed in one of their bungalows close to the beach. Room was totally ok but beds a bit to firm. We had an extra mattress as we were 3 people in the room with made it a bit thought of obvious reasons. Bathroom had everything you need but was worn and they could have spent a bit more on design. Restaurant was really good witch was lucky as this place is a long way from everything as its the most remote placed resort. Beautiful beach with shallow water. Kajaks is available for free and paddle boards for 150bath/h.

  9. What a shame. A beautiful beach apart for two things. The mountains of plastic and the raw sewage. It’s very visible as a thick brown slick from the headland at far end of beach. I would never return. Paradise destroyed.

  10. Nice long beach on the southern part of the island. As of June 2020, only one of the resorts on the beach is open. The part of the beach around Rest sea is kept nice and tidy – the rest of the beach is full of garbage! Hopefully during high season when all the resorts are up and running, the beach is cleaned up! As a side note the restaurant at Rest Sea resort is top notch!
