The monument was related to some thai admiral and all the history related to it. I rather found the sea views spectacular which was just across the monument. Truly beautiful views and the sunset was just the cherry on the cake.
The monument of Prince Chumphon is also known as Prince Chumphon Shrine & Memorial and Krom Luang Chumphon Khet Udomsak Royal Palace. It is dedicated to the twenty-eighth child of king Rama V who was named Kiartiwongsehe Abhakara. He was born on 19th December 1880. He became an Admiral and because of his reforms he was deemed the father of Thai Navy. Monuments and memorials in his honor can be seen throughout Thailand. He also practiced medicine and mysticism, and some people believe he one of the 108 deities. The locals pay regular tribute of flowers and candles to his statue. You can also visit the tiny little museum dedicated to the Admiral and see a 68 metre torpedo boat.
This place was super busy but there’s plenty of opportunities for taking great photos. The scenery is very spectacular and well laid out. There market areas with lots of souvenirs and usual street food with refreshments. During the mid afternoon it was very hot so take the necessary precautions. This is a must see place.
Views of 4 or 5 offshore islands. Lighthouse structure with Thai maritime history. Maybe 50 stairs to climb. Inexpensive trinket shops across from the parking lot
