We did the three day, two nights trekking with Somdee. The trekking was the highlight on our whole Thailand trip. We had a really great time with the group and our Guide. Somdee was very carring, funny and had a great knowlegde about many things. We can’t say anything negativ beside that it went by way too fast 😉
I had an amazing time trekking with brilliant guides Kay and Au. I booked a private one day trekking tour the day before at the office in Chiang Mai. Was collected from my hotel at 7.30am the next morning and after a quick stop at a local market en route to pick up breakfast, we headed into the mountains. I choose a tour which included a visit to an elephant sanctuary (there was an option instead to visit a waterfall). It was amazing seeing the elephants and the sanctuary we went to felt like an ethical one where elephants weren’t being pressured to ‘perform’ for visitors which was really important to me. We then began a 2-3 hour trek into the mountains which was challenging but the scenery was stunning and it was interesting learning about wildlife (we saw species like Tarantulas) and what life is like in this area from my guides who were both from a village nearby. At the end of the hike we arrived at a village where an incredible lunch was prepared by a local family. After lunch it was time for the bamboo rafting which was an absolutely amazing experience! I felt in very safe hands with Kay and Au who were experienced and skilful in steering the raft having grown up along the river, and the scenery around us was truly breathtaking – you’re really in the middle of a very remote and seemingly untouched jungle. We were even lucky enough to see a Cobra which was on the riverbank about to cross the water so that was exciting! Such a great day all around – thank you to Kay and Au for a wonderful experience! I think what I really liked about this tour too was that it felt environmentally and socially conscious – the guides are local people who have a great deal of knowledge about the region and it feels like this tour has a very low impact on the environment which is important in terms of protecting the biodiversity and communities living there. I hope to visit Chiang Mai again and if I do I will book another tour with Piroon!
We want to thank your team and especially to our guide Sombat for an unforgettable experience from a trip in the mountains. We learned about life in mountain villages, tasted local cuisine and enjoyed feeding and bathing elephants. We are excited about the trip.Big thanks to Sombat, the bamboo specialist, for the bamboo cups made during the trip:)Petr and Kristyna
If you plan a visit to Chiang Mai and you’re well versed in trekking this is a must-do experience: you’ll have the chance to hike on Chiang Mai mountains and stay in a tribal village, and you can add also a breath-taking and refreshing experience by descendind Mae Taeng river with bamboo rafting, and you can also feed and share a bath with elephants. Guides are very experienced and will guide you for the entire hike, for provide an authentic and breath-taking experience!Thumbs up for our guide Jo-jo,he was really fun, smart and experienced 🔝🇹🇭👍🏻
We had a great experience with Chiang Mai Trekking and our wonderful guide Cha. Food, hiking, rafting, over night in the village was perfect.
Enjoyed an amazing trekking of 3 days. I went alone and joined a group of other solo travelers. We were 7 and paid 4000/pp. We slept in local villages and enjoyed the most delicious Thai meals. Unfortunately we couldn’t do the bamboo rafting due to the water levels, but our guide, Dong, always found good alternatives. We walked 3h the first afternoon, 3h the next morning and 2.5h in the afternoon. On the last day we walked another 1.5h in the morning, before we went to feed the elephants and visited a butterfly and orchid garden. They have a good website with all the information on the trekking and they are easily reachable through WhatsApp too. I was super grateful for their flexibility (had to change the number of nights I would stay) and for keeping my reservation without advance payment. I can recommend bringing enough spare clothes as you might end of hiking 3 days in the rain. You will have to carry your own stuff throughout the hike, but you can buy water in each village, so bring some money (there’s also an opportunity to buy souvenirs).
I did the 3days Trekking tour and as a solo traveller I was joining a group. We had an amazing time and this is especially with thanks to JoJo, our guide, who was the best guide one could have imagined: he was kind and caring and always making sure that everyone was feeling good, explaining a lot of interesting things about the forest and the Karen culture and at the same time he was really nice and funny. The hike was just wonderful and the bamboo Rafting a fun experience.I will definitely recommend the tour to anyone who is planning to travel to Chiangmai.
The tour was so nice. The trek was really interesting and we enjoy spending the night in the village. Also enjoyed the bamboo rafting experience. The guide was really interesting and gave us information about the forest and all the environment
I cannot rate this trip highly enough! Our guide Si was 10/10. So Friendly and knowledgeable, nothing was too much trouble. We did the 3 day 2 night trek with our two teen boys, both 16. We have a reasonable fitness level, and the trek was quite challenging in some places but definitely manageable, and so worth the effort. The bamboo rafting was heaps of fun. The food was beautiful and plentiful. The visit to the elephant santuary was great. An amazing experience for our whole family, which we will never forget – Thai village life really showed us you dont need much to be happy!
We booked a private 3 day, 2 night trek with our now adult children. It was the highlight of our holiday in Thailand. JoJo was a great guide, was interesting and informative about the Forest and Karen culture, and he looked after us very well. He also used to be a chef and cooked us some of our best meals in Thailand. Walking to and being welcomed into some of the small, local villages was a delight. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to have an unforgettable experience in the hills around Chang mai. The only thing we felt uncomfortable about afterwards was bathing the elephants in the river at the end. We enjoyed seeing them but felt afterwards we shouldn’t have got into the river with them as the elephant wanted to leave. Thank you so much JoJo and piroon for a wonderful trip
I don’t usually write reviews but for this tour I had to make an exception. The trek, views and experience was amazing. But it was made so much better by our tour guide Chai. Super nice and friendly – probably the best tour guide all our group have ever had.
We travelled to Thailand in December 2024. The highlight was Chiang Mai. We went on a two day hike with Piroon. Jojo was our guide. We really enjoyed the hike with Jojo. He was energetic, fun and charismatic. He shared with us anecdotes about the forest, the region and some other fun facts like touching a leaf that open and closes. He sang throughout the hike, took photographs without us even asking him. It was really lovely and wholesome. Jojo was great. On the way back, Piroon let us take a shower before we took a train back to Bangkok. Thank you Piroon and Jojo. Hope to see you soon.
We did the 3D2N experience with Dat and it was an absolutely amazing time. The homestay in the Karen village was a wonderful experience, as was the bamboo rafting. The home cooked food was delicious and it was fantastic to see the cooking process and be with our host family. Dat demonstrated his thorough indigenous knowledge of the forest flora, which was remarkable as well. Would highly recommend to all!
Amazing Trekking Experience with Dino!I had an absolutely incredible experience with Chiang Mai Trekking by Piroon! Our guide, Dino, was fantastic—so caring, attentive, and almost like a father figure to the group. The trek itself was unforgettable. We hiked through stunning landscapes, spent the night in a local village, cooked and shared meals with the villagers, and truly immersed ourselves in their way of life. The adventure continued the next day with an amazing bamboo rafting trip down the river, and we even had the chance to see elephants up close!Everything was perfectly organized, and Dino made sure we were comfortable and enjoying every moment. If you’re looking for an authentic and adventurous experience in Northern Thailand, I highly recommend this trek. A must-do in Chiang Mai!
