About Soi Dog Foundation

Soi Dog Foundation stands as Southeast Asia’s largest rescue organization, dedicated to the welfare of stray dogs and cats. Established two decades ago, SDF has tirelessly pursued a mission to reduce animal suffering throughout the region. With the support of generous donations and a network of global volunteers, the foundation executes effective CNVR (Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return) programs to manage the stray animal population humanely.

Animals that cannot return safely to the streets find refuge in SDF’s sanctuary. Here, they receive the highest quality medical care, love, and attention necessary for recovery and rehabilitation. SDF also facilitates local and international adoption services, helping many of these animals find forever homes.

In addition to its rescue and rehabilitation efforts, Soi Dog Foundation actively works to put an end to the barbaric dog meat trade, informing communities about its inhumane practices and advocating for animal rights across several countries.

For those interested in visiting, guided tours are available on weekdays at 10:00 AM and 1:30 PM. During these tours, visitors learn about the organization’s vital work and the stories of the animals in its care. After the tour, guests are encouraged to spend time with the wonderful cats and dogs, creating a connection that can inspire change.

Visitors should note that impromptu tours are unavailable between 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM, but during this time, they are welcome to interact with animals in the cattery or relax in the visitor center. Moreover, SDF welcomes volunteers from Monday to Friday starting at 9 AM, offering a meaningful way to contribute to the foundation’s mission of transforming the lives of vulnerable animals in the region.

  1. What an amazing place to visit and volunteer! Even after day one, I am on such a high and cannot wait to return tomorrow. The people are amazing, the organisation is superb and well all the animals are angels! You feel the love as soon as you set food in soi dog foundation. Such an incredible cause. Please visit, volunteer or donate. ❤️

  2. What a wonderful organization! I went on the hourlong tour and it was so lovely to hear more about their work. Soi Dog is making such a difference for the street dogs and cats in Thailand, I am really impressed with what they’ve accomplished.Toward the end of the tour we were given the opportunity to play with some of the puppies. And the tour ended in the cat rooms, where you’re welcome to stay and play with the cats as long as you’d like.I highly recommend visiting and supporting this incredible organization!

  3. Very nice staff and extremely well organised care of cats and dogs. They put a HUGE amount of work into curing and saving cats and dogs! They have 500 employees and several teams working accross Thailand, saving animals from the streets and from other countries where they hurt them and eat them… their Organization should and could be a great example for Europe! They have no government financial support whatsoever, they finance everything with the help of donators. Cured animals can be exported to amazing owners accross all continents. They put animals into good hands. I am impressed, thank you for the amazing experience!

  4. The history of the clarity is truly remarkable. They desperately need more volunteers to help walk the 1400 dogs they have in care. I decided to sign up It consisted of walking the dogs in 20 min laps around the grounds, allowing them time to come off the lead in designated areas so they could play or simply just giving them love.1000/10 experience, leaving a piece of my heart with them

  5. So thankful for places like this to take care of stray animals! You can really see the animals are taken care of and feeling good in here!

  6. My husband and I attended a tour today and we were blown away with how amazing the facility is. We got to interact with the puppies and several dogs on their walk. The carers and volunteers do an amazing job caring for the dogs in their care that have come from terrible cruelty. Thank you for all that you do!

  7. This is my 4th visit to Soi Dog over several year and this organisation keeps on contributing to the welfare of thousands of dogs and cats. Come for a day visit and discover the well oiled machine that offers love and care to its many occupants. Volunteer for longer and you are in for an experience that will keep you coming back (oh yes you will!)Your role will involve walking and socialising with some of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet – but be careful – many volunteers have left with more than an experience and there are now many soi dogs and cats that have a home of their very own!. The mission of Soi Dog is not in removing dogs from the streets – but to take in sick and injured animals who other wise would not survive. If you volunteer for a while, expect to make lasting friendships with other volunteers, eat delicious and very affordable lunches and hangout in the chilled Nai Yang neighbourhood and make friends with the beach dogs. The current co-ordinator team of Gan, Ben, Jenny, Silvia and Chrissie, will welcome you and ensure you are well prepared for the Soi dog experience. If you can volunteer for a few days or longer the animals will certainly reward you for your time and love. Or just book a tour for a taster. Or just donate any amount – or buy some merch – there are lots of mouths to feed. Just come – you won’t regret it!

  8. We did a tour of the site whilst on our honeymoon and it was incredibly interesting learning about the history of the meat trade and animal rescue. The tour lasted an hour or so and you got to go into the small puppy enclosure and the small dog enclosure. The guide was very interesting and knowledgeable. You also have time in the cattery (but we are not cat people) We are going to come back to Phuket again and volunteer for 2 days so that we can walk the various dogs in their care as there are so many dogs who need love and attention and it is impossible for the staff to walk every dog (1400) each day. We can’t wait to return. We travelled to the sanctuary from Laguna/Bang Tao area and found it very easy to get a Grab/Bolt there and back.

  9. So wholesome and learned so much! They have done so much for these dogs and cats. There were so many strays around our hotel and after doing a little research I stumbled across Soi and we are so glad we stopped by! Only wish I had time to volunteer and walk the pups!

  10. You should visit this place while in Phuket. Very informative, good guiding. They do absolutely fantastic work with the dogs and cats in Thailand. Also good for children.

  11. Amazing stories about the foundation, about the animals story. Some stories left traces in heart and mind. How some people can treat their animals like that is hard to understand.Thank God that you at Soi Dog exists

  12. The best you could do on your vacation!!! Never visit Phuket without a visit hete. I love the dogs/cats and the incredible devoted staff!!! A small donation or help walk some dogs, and bring joy to an animal is a perfect way to spend a vacation day/hours, or donate to help. This is one of the few foundations I give money to! They do a great work!!

  13. I volunteered here for a couple of days whilst I was passing through. There are about 1400 dogs here. They are walked by volunteers in the grounds for 20 mins each, and it may not be every day as it is dependent on how many volunteers they get. Each pen, or two adjoining pens, has a carer, and the carer is with them 6 hours a day. After walking a complete pen (two walkers per pen) if you have time you can go into the pen to interact with the doggos. A very well run organisation

  14. Inspiring visit to this exceptional dog & cat hospital and sanctuary. So interesting to learn about their history and of course the hi-light was meeting some of their residents. Highly recommend
