I visited Koh Tao with a friend. Having read some of the online reviews and been warned by hotel staff about dodgy bike rental places I was apprehensive about renting a bike. As bikes are the best way to get around the island we decided to give it a go and rented bikes from Paramee. The shop can collect you from your hotel if you let them know in advance, with us we were walking there and luckily ran into one of their employees who drove me to their premises. The bikes were clean and in good condition. We rented two bikes for 300 and 350 baht. You give back with the amount of petrol that they give you but the bikes are very economical. Koh Tao is very hilly and not all roads are asphalted. On a downhill road I used both brakes and skidded to the floor (should only use the back brake). Luckily both myself and the bike weren’t too badly damaged. The bike did have scratches on the side and a loose side view mirror. Having read the stories online I was expecting to be charged an exorbitant amount for the damage. However, when I returned the bike to Paramee they inspected the bike, I explained what happened and apologised and they understood and didn’t charge me anything extra!! This was a very welcome change to all the stories online and I would highly recommend the shop for bike rentals if you are staying in or around the area. Rented a scooter for 4 days. No fuzz, just easy scooter rental. When renting you only have to leave your drivers license as deposit (not passport or cash like many other places). They will ask you to take pictures of the scooter before renting, so you have documentation of existing scratches etc. Scooter was good and drove fine.We had one issue, which was the lock for the key which got stuck, meaning we could not unlock the scooter. Called them and within 10 minutes they came by and got us a replacement until they had fixed the issue. Excellent and quick service.Handing in the scooter again was easy and quick. No charges for scratches or anything (we had not made any either), meaning we only paid the listed price for rental.Finally they offered to give a lift back to the hotel after handing in the scooter again.Great service and friendly people 😊 Could not recommend more.Their listed prices are a bit higher compared to what else can be found, but insurance is included (which is not the standard all places) and you do not risk having to pay for something unfair when handing it in. So I would say it is well worth the price.
A storm and heavy rain surprised us at the beach and we went to a wrong street and our bike was far away. The owner was so helpful and brought us to our bike – so friendly & kind. THANK YOU SO MUCH! If you want to rent a scooter do it there 🙂
Quickly and very friendly service, safe motorbike. Insurance is included in the price. We brought the motorbike back one day earlier and that was no problem at all; we didn’t have to pay for the next day. Would really recommend!
