Diving On Koh Tao is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking GPO Mae Haad Road, 84360, Thailand
I hold KT very dearly.The diving has a very wide range of options as far as conditions, floral, and fauna.Head to Japanese Gardens for easy conditions, colorful corals and maybe a sea snake.Head to Champon for some slightly more advanced conditions, deep diving with giant groupers and maybe a whale shark.Head to SouthWest for even more advanced conditions, an awesome swim through chimney, and more than few fish surprises ( maybe even some bull sharks).Or head to White Rock (my personal favorite) for a perfect mix of everything plus a good chance too see green turtles.Some may complain about the crowds of KT dive sights , but that’s why I search for and sign up with the earliest boats around- beat the crowds.I lived on KT for 5 months.
Some of the dive sites in Ko Tao are excellent, but there are a lot of divers at each site, so can feel quite overcrowded. Loads of triggerfish!
I learned to dive with Buddha View. Despite there being so many companies, you’d never notice when you’re in the water, it’s such a peaceful place to dive.The sites we went to we all completely different and so interesting. Loads of different species of fish as well as octopus, Rays and sea turtles! If you’ve dived before or want to get into it Koh Tao is the place!
The setup is great but the visibility is just ok,i guess i will have to come back some other time and my advance course> they said it gets better in february…
Lots of people getting their scuba certification, snorkeling was excellent in the clear water. Recerts of scuba is half a day if it has been awhile. There are many little spots around Koh Tao to enjoy and the water is very warm and clear. Tropical fish surrounded us on several occasions in close proximity to the beach entrance, no snorkel mask required!
I had an amazing time doing this course! The scenery was magnificent and I now feel confident when diving, only after 3 days! 😀 However, I paid the course prior to my arrival, but then found out there were a lot of extra costs for booklets and scetificate and all that. Take this into acount! The accommodation was very basic but okay if you don’t care about luxury. Furthermore it was perfect!
We had a fantastic time whilst doing our padi open water. We enjoyed every second of it and our instructor was brilliant. Koh Tao is such a beautiful place to dive and i would urge anyone to go there and experience it! We are planning to go back to do the Advanced qualification.
I visited Koh Tao on my own to do a diving course. I didn’t realise at first how much I was going to struggle with getting to grips with it all ! I am happy to say I had the most amazing, thoughtful and patient instructor – Arnaud! Instead of letting me quit like I insisted I was going to – he put an amazing amount of effort into getting my confidence levels up and ensuring I got back in the water. This island is idyllic but basic. The pace of life is slow and relaxed. The sea is warm and clear so ideal for diving. On the first day I have seen barracuda, puffer fish, sting ray, a large hermit crab and loads of shoals of fish.
