Wow! What an awesome experience… To see the coral spawning, freckled goatfish and moray eels glowing neon yellow and not to mention the fiery red glow of a scorpion fish… just trippy and mind blowing. Its given me even more appreciation of the wonders of the underwater world.
If you get bored with night dives, then try to do them in blue light…… Amazing experience with Ties and the crew in a night to remember in Koh Tao. You think you have seen it all ? have a look at those little scorpion fishes bright orange lying on the sand, or the coral looking like volcano in eruption.It is a lot less difficult than what we thought which makes it even accessible to novice divers.Just go there and do it !
Although the thought of UV night diving interested me, it was with a little trepidation that I agreed to take part in my 1st underwater UV experience. ‘It must it gets boring seeing the same fluoresence after 20 minutes’, ‘you can’t see sea urchins or rocks’ and ‘it can’t really be THAT different’ were just some of the things people said to me when I mentioned UV Diving. We joined Ties and Dan at the briefing whilst Ties enthusiastically told us about how cool goatfish were on a UV Dive. Goatfish? Really? Hmmm, cue more sceptisism… After the briefing, on to the boat, and underway to the dive site. We were curious, but not even Ties’s enthusiasm could prepare us for what lay under the surface…Armed with our special torch and yellow visor, we submerged for our first underwater UV encounter. If you are an experienced diver and think you’ve seen it all and are bored of night diving, you need to get all over this – it was incredible. The colours, the detail, the variety were all spectacular. From the smallest nudibranches to scorpion fish to mantis shrimps to phenomenal corals to, yes, the goatfish, this is something that you simply must experience. ‘Amazing’, ‘incredible’, ‘awesome’ were words that were banded about by all the divers on the short trip back to the dive school. Did my first UV night dive with Ties in July and i just want to go back to do it again. Really hard to share this experience with words, it is not comparable to any of my previous underwater experience, not only the colors, the corals but also the marine life were spectacular. We all knew that Southeast Asia’s underwater world is beautiful but this is something else! I have never heard of fluoro night diving until I stumbled upon UV Dive Koh Tao and decided to drop by Koh Tao specifically to do a fluoro night dive.The two main things that came to mind during the dive were the beauty of colours all around, and the way specific creatures and features stood out when normally quite inconspicuous during daytime or a conventional night dive.Dive leader Ties was excellent – good fun and professional yet easy going and he explained concept and procedure of fluoro night diving very well. The pace of the dive was appropriate.The actual dive site was a mix of sandy bottom and hard corals, 10m max depth, approx. 60 minutes. What I would say though is that the pictures and clips on their website – although pretty amazing – do not do the real thing justice!Bottom line – in the name of the Michelin Guide – “Exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey”
As a PADI divemaster I thought I had seen it all, but this is something completely amaizing and new !!! It’s like being an open water diver again with all the new colors and experiences. This was a fantastic outfit and they couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodation. They even picked us up at our resort. Highly recommended !!!
The UV night dive in Ko Tao, by Ties and Shirley and Dive Point was AWESOME!! It was a new beautiful world under water. It was amazing, beautiful koral and fish in super colors (pink, blue, red, yellow, green and paerple). Saw big hermite krabs in beautiful colors. Barry, my dive instructor let me see the most beautiful places and with the best equipment. Good uv light and an extra color glass on my mask made the trip perfect! So if you are in Ko Tao… Go for the UV night dive by Ties and Shirley! It’s an experience I will never forget!! Thanks you guys for this amazing experience 😀
Stumbled across the webpage for UV Diving whilst I was researching my trip to Koh Tao. As soon as I saw the photos I knew I had to give UV diving a go. You really do see what you see in the photos apart from it is even brighter. I was never that interested in corals on day dives but UV diving opens up a whole different world underwater. Seeing the corals glow bright green and yellow and red and orange was mesmerising. Ties and crew did a fantastic job. I couldn’t believe their enthusiasm and excitement for the dive (they even seemed more excited then us) but completely understood after. Wish every dive could be a UV dive. Great people and great diving.

I’m an Dive instructor, and night dives have always fascinated me, so it was only logical for me to try out a UV-Night Dive. I wasn’t sure what to expect. We went in a small group, which was great as the UV instructor had all the time in the world to answer all the questions that I had. That actual dive was amazing, like a whole new world. I felt like being in another universe. The colors where amazing and as soon as you get used to it, the world explodes with live that I had never seen so clearly before. If you think you have experienced awesome dives to this and have your eyes opened, I can only recommend this to all divers.Thank you UV Dive for this experience!
