I have been to other silk factories and they are all pretty similar since the process of making silk is the same. At this factory we were ushered into the room where we witnessed the process from beginning to end. We were allowed to move at our own pace and an attendant was available to answer questions. The showroom and silk store had reasonable prices and a large variety of silk products for men, women, and the home.
In the factory you can see the production process for silk fabric from the worms to the weaving. It was very interesting. As other reviewers noted the attendant didn’t actually guide us but was available to answer questions. The attached store carries many beautiful items. The prices are not cheap, but are not unreasonable either for handwoven silk. I bought 4 scarves that have gotten many compliments. Each cost about $45.
The short guided tour offers an explanation of how silk products are created. The worms are viewable as well as the type of moths and how color is added to make the silk a variety of color. This is a working factory so loom workers are on hand making silk products. It’s a great learning experience and the store offers nice products at a reasonable price.
We loved learning about the process of how silk is made, and watching as the women spinned it. There are lots of reasonably-priced items for sale in the store section, including beautiful cards, prints, clothing, scarves, etc. The tour was in-depth and informative.
This was a stop on an afternoon shopping excursion. There is a short, guided tour explaining how silk is made – we even got to see some weavers at work on their looms. The store has a wide selection of reasonably-priced and good quality products, including scarves, shawls, ties, lingerie, placemats, table runners, and yard goods. They also do custom tailoring (I didn’t check those prices).
Our cab driver brought us here when the partner wanted to see more silk while returning from the river rafting. I thought I would be bored, but their display of the entire process, including live caterpillars and people actually working on the cocoons and then making silk cloth was actually interesting. The finished products are in the next section. I got myself a tie. Driver watched our bill like a hawk for his commission. He had earned it, all of us were happy.
We stopped over and brought several silk items, mostly scarves and a night gown. The prices aren’t cheap, but you have a wide selection. I thought the ties were more expensive
That’s really what we were looking for! Black-Tie wedding and found the perfect shop for our needs! My outfit truly one of a kind and they made a matching Tux pocket handkerchief! The ladies gave wonderful service —custom fitted up to the last minute at our hotel before we left to head back to the US…Thank you for the memories and our picture shows it all!
This was one of the better silk factories that I have witnessed. First of all they greet you with a complimentary flower pin. Secondly, you are left to your own devices but the staff are available to answer questions. There are areas of interest showing how the silk worm evolves to ladies actually loom weaving. The last section is the spotlessly clean show room – this is when the staff follow you around hoping for a purchase or two!
