Chiang Mai a la Carte – Day Tours is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking 50000, Thailand
We connected with old friends in Thailand for two and a half days in Chiang Mai. It was a return visit for us and our friends arranged for a great time of touring sites in the area. Our guide Kuhn Bay first sought to discover who we were, the why of our being there and the what of what we wanted and this was just on our ride from the airport. He was very knowledgable of the area and made sure we were well cared for. Our driver was excellent and we felt safe and well cared for during our tour. Chiang Mai al la Carte gave us the best possible experience in Chiang Mai and surroundings. The guide was friendly and very knowledgeable and showed us not only the touristic highlights, but also some surprisingly interesting sights off the beaten track. The tempke half way Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai was awesome and there was not a tourist in sight. We had a great day! Highly recommended.
In planning a return visit to Chiang Mai, I stumbled upon this tour company. I worked with Frans to develop a personalized tour that met my goals and objectives. Frans was attentive and answered all my emails quickly. Our guide Kuhn Bay was very professional, knowledgeable, a great communicator, and a delight to travel with. Our driver was courteous and a very good driver. We were joined by our two friends from the USA and they were also very pleased with both the tour and the Chiang Mai a la Carte personnel. My trust in this company was rewarded with their performance. We will use then for our return visit next year.
I’ve made most of two days in Chiang Mai by booking a tailor-made “surprise” tour to explore the city and surroundings. Since it was my first time in Chiang Mai I had Frans put together an itinerary that would cover must-sees, culture & history. I’ve very much enjoyed a mixture of activities from visiting most touristy places such as Wat Doi Suthep to exploring remains of an ancient temple in a backyard in the city. Frans was very welcoming and very knowledgeable – for me both days’ couldn’t have been any better.
With our two daughters we visited Doi Suthep, a paper factory and a doll museum!! What makes iT special is the way they present these highlights. For instance the stories about the spezialisation of a village in …. paper, about the families who run these factories. The demo of the production Process, the ‘look and feel’ of the RAW materials and end products, the application of the beautifull paper in bags, in wall paper, in hand-held fans ….. gives you an great insight in the live and work of the Thai people. And the girls could buy all Sorts of gifts. These kind of experiences determines our holidays.
We had booked a total of 2 private tours with the tour agency which consisted of Old Chiang Mai Unveiled Tour and Chiang Rai tour packages respectively. It was the best decision made as we had a whale of a time exploring Chiang Mai/Chaing Rai during our stay there.Prior to the trip, there were prompt responses and great communications from the tour agency in planning and finalising the itineraries to cater to our needs. Under the recommendation of Mr Michiel, BBK tours which we had engaged their services twice in Bangkok, we were blessed to have Mr Bay to be our tour guide throughout the entire trip. He was professional, knowledgeable, devoted and honest. His presence had not only enhance our experiences but also made us feel like a local. The way he fulfilled the deliveries were different as he would always do so with a sense of personal touch. One could sense the strong love that he had for his country and how enthusiastic he was to share Thai culture and their way of life with the tourists.Besides bringing us to places of interest such as Mix Hill Tribes, White Temple, Golden Triangle, Hall Of Opium, Myanmar border market and various renowned distinctive temples, Mr Bay even showed me the techniques of how to take good portrait shots using my cellphone. He also assisted in taking beautiful shots for my family and I. We knew that we were in good hands as Mr Bay would always be there to guide and advise us accordingly during the trip to ensure that we benefited from it. Thus, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Mr Bay for taking the extra mile and his company for the great service rendered. I would strongly recommend other travellers to join their tours for an authentic and personal experience of exploring Chiang Rai/Chiang Mai with a different lens.
Our guide (Nui) was so positive and energetic. He answered our endless questions! We appreciated that he used an iPad to show us visuals of how the areas that we visited used to look like. We tasted a variety of foods at the first market we stopped at – great for newbies to Chiang Mai. We spent much time discovering San Pakoy market – so much to see! We were sad to not stop at the medicinal tea, but we must have been out of time. We did go on a Friday, but we don’t remember visiting the Ban Ho market. The samlors took us through busy streets, near bridges, and through old neighborhoods – what a treat!
We LOVED our morning”Markets of Chiang Mai by Samlor” tour with Nui. We learned a lot and had so much fun. The logistics were all executed flawlessly. I simply cannot imagine a better way to learn about Chiang Mai. Plus, it is nice to know we are supporting Chiang Mai’s samlor business. I highly recommend booking this tour!!
Our guide was Rung – he was patient and helpful. We asked many questions and he was eager to support our learning about local markets and temples. The San Patong market was so authentic! We enjoyed seeing the water buffalo and cows being sold – we would have enjoyed seeing a person actually negotiating the purchase of a buffalo. We got to taste some snacks that we hadn’t tasted before (we bought, not included). We enjoyed seeing the wood carving workshop and discovering how the carving is done. Lunch (included) was at a local restaurant in a calm setting with delicious food. After lunch, we went to Doi Suthep and Wat Pha Lat. Wat Pha Lat is an old Burmese temple in the forest – so beautiful and calm! (The Monk’s Trail leads to this temple.) We had a full day of culture and history! We had a wonderful time learning!
