Cu Corner Chiang Mai Thailand is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Thailand
CU Corner is a small intimate bar thats always filled with expats. Live music starts around 9:15 avery night. You never know who will show up to play, but the music is good. Western style folk songs and popular music are the usual fare. They do not have food at CU Corner, but restaurants nearby will bring food to your table, plus there are always street vendors on motorized carts that drive past. Always an enjoyable evening.
My wife and I stumbled across CU Corner whilst on holiday a few weeks ago. We were out exploring the Soi 1 area of town and after walking down a badly lit side street there it was. We were like moths to a flame. This bar is the live music Mecca of Chiang Mai and is run by a wonderful Thai lady Lahna and her expat English husband Nick. We were made to feel immediately welcome and enjoyed their hospitality not to mention the fab live music from people who just seem to breeze by, take an instrument off the wall and join in. Just amazing !!! A special mention to an incredible musician Peter who is an American expat regular who entertains the crowds most evenings. Oh and the random people from all over the world that stroll in off the street when they here the music is incredible. We loved it so much we went back nearly every night and we’d never laughed so much in ages. If you visit Chiang Mai you must pop in for a drink. ” Fantastic ” Thanks guys hopefully see you again next year.
We found this place as we went in search of the “real” Chiang Mai. The welcome was warm and within minutes we had a glass in our hands and were chatting with the owner’s husband. The musicians entertained us with a melodic cornucopia from bob dylan to john denver. The craic (as we say in Ireland) was mighty! This place is a must….but shush….don’t tell anyone!
We love this place, as it combines music and a vibrant atmosphere. The owner Dao and Nick are lovely and the staff is very friendly and funny. We always have a great time, enjoying the music. If you want, you can order food from the nearby restaurant and eat in the bar. Everything is easy and relaxed. It’s a place to visit.
We were strolling down this soi when we were enticed inside a nondescript beer bar. It turned out to be the ex-pats bar of choice where instruments were available for anyone who could play and a handfull of people were playing and playing pretty well. It all made for a very memorable evening.
Run by a bunch of really friendly Thai women, this is a welcoming expats mainly bar. There is someone playing live music most nights. It’s well run & very chilled. I stopped in most nights over my 10 days in Chiang Mai.
Found CU Corner and stopped in for a drink and to play a guitar on the wall. The waitress quickly set me up with a mic and all of a sudden I was performing for everyone. I was joined shortly by some local ex-pats and we had a great night playing together. Never expected to connect with so many locals that night, so we were back for another night. My girlfriend and I will always remember our nights here!
COLD Beer, efficient staff, a very pleasant place to relax and watch life in Chiang Mai. Have live music after 9.00pm.
