  1. If you want a really, fabulous, personal experience then definitely book this fantastic cooking class. It’s Andy’s own business and you can tell how passionate he was from start to finish. We loved going round the market with him, learning about all the different Thai foods, he is very knowledgable and his English is great! His kitchen is extremely clean and we found the recipes to be just right, in terms of difficulty and to be easily able to create them again back home. We had such a good time and the food was so tasty, we can’t wait to try out the dishes our selves. The photo of the white coconut, chicken soup (final dishes) doesn’t do it justice, it was so delicious, so much flavour, now our new favourite soup!! We even received desert, a real touch as neither of us had tried it before and it was gorgeous. Thanks Andy we would recommend to anyone!

  2. were taken to messy market that stank then bored with chili cutting and basically just looking how it’s done same u can do on side walks everywhere in bangkok and don’t need to pay so much. not worth the price and time it takes.

  3. We had a great time at this cooking class. We chose the three dishes we wanted (green curry, pad Thai and spring rolls) to make and then went to the local market to get our ingredients- which was a great experience in itself. Andy was an excellent teacher who clearly knows these dishes inside out; it was very easy to follow what he was doing. All of the equipment is new and clean and the air conditioning was well appreciated! 3 dishes is just right as we couldn’t even eat it all. I never cook at home so I was thrilled with what I had made with Andy’s help.Although there’s not many reviews for this yet, please make sure you go here. It was our favourite time spent in Bangkok and Andy is extremely friendly, chatty and helpful.

  4. Clay Pot is ran by Andy who is a young local. He had a strong passion for cooking and the Thai culture. Andy is incredibly knowledgable and friendly, making this excursion great. In comparison to other cooking classes this one is better priced, and although I didn’t do any other classes I am very confident that this is not only the same experience but better. You get to pick 3 dishes out of a selection of about 10 classic Thai dishes. From here Andy takes you to the local market to collect all the goods, giving you a “Shop like a local” experience as he is behind the counter getting the fresh produce for you. Once you get back to the class you cook all the dishes as Andy tells you about the culture of this dish in Thailand and substitutes you can use back home. Food is incredibly good, and come hungry because there is a lot. Anyone who is interested in a cooking class should do this one as it is a great time overall!

  5. As a long time traveller, I will state that this is one of those operators who will not hesitate to rip off a traveller given the chance. They ask you to arrive 15 minutes beforehand, and because I only arrived 2 minutes beforehand they just kept my money – no class and no refund. The thing is I tried to call (3 times), and messaged them prior, saying I was on my way but google maps says I won’t be 15 minutes early. No response. When I arrived, the lights were off inside. I knocked on the doors. Waited. Went to the nearby (tiny) market to look for them and saw no tour group whatsoever. So I don’t think the class happened at all. But they kept my money and refused to refund; no offer for another class…nothing. Cost recovery was already attempted multiple times but he has hidden behind the distance and avoided accountability. This is no way to handle guests to your country, and people should know!

  6. We really enjoyed the cooking course. We started by agreeing in trhe group which 3 recipes we would learn to cook. Andy then took us to a nearby market where we shopped for all the ingrediants – which was fantastic. We then returned to the kitchin and learnt to cook the 3 dishes, we chose Pad Thai, Tom yam soup and Massaman curry. The resulting food was delicios!

  7. lucky enough I choose the afternoon session and had a private entertaining thai cooking experience. Choice of 3 dishes from Andy‘s list… shopping fresh ingredients from the local market … hands on preparation of all … cooking on modern induction stove … and enjoying a sumptuous firework of aromatic tastes from the various herbal spices like Basil, Coriander, Mince, Onions or Garlic with each course of the menu… accompanied by the interesting explanations of our chef. Proud to say that my own prepared Minced Chicken Salad was the best I ever had. Absolutely recommendable.

  8. My mother-in-law and I knew we wanted to do a cooking class while we were in Bangkok. We found Andy at Clay Pot on Tripadvisor before we left on our trip. I chatted back and forth with him a bit before booking. He replied quickly every time. He even agreed to let our spouses stay to watch and help us eat our yummy food. We did the 3-course at 4pm class. It is a 3 hour class. We were asked to arrive 15mins (3:45pm) early so as a group we could pick out what we were going to make. We lucked out there was only one other person in our group. So making the tough decision a lot easier. How we all needed to agree. We picked Coconut milk soup with chicken, Pad Thai & Pad See Ew. There were about 12 or more items to choose from. We were each given a basket and a recipe card and off we went to buy the ingredients at the local market which was about a 7-10min walk away. What a cool and fun experience. Once we had all got our ingredients we were back to the shop to start cooking. Clay Pot is very clean and well maintained. They make sure to take all the precautions while handing the foods. As well as make sure we are taking all the pre-cautions. They took my mushroom allergy very seriously. How that was one of the ingredients we were using. Each person made one of each dish and they were very large portions. So happy that my spouses was there to help me eat. All knifes, spoons, pots, bowls & etc. were in top notch shape. He had a few assistant just incase you needed help or to pass things out or remove them at the end. The cooking room had ac. Thank gosh how the hot plates really warmed you up. Andy also handed out bottles of water. Andy and his team all had a great attitude and willing to help and answer a million questions. We all shared a ton of laughs and stories as well. I am very happy we managed to get a small group. I think it would have been more difficult to choose dishes you would want and could get stuck making something you are not interested in. Clay Pot is located a block south of Wat Pho. When we were leaving we got a stunning view of it all lite up. Just stunning! All in all a fabulous teacher, an excellent meal and an awesome end to the day.
