  1. A fun and interactive museum to answer the question of ‘What is Thainess?’ There are an array of rooms which touch on different topics and also look at how things have changed in Thailand over time. When we went there was a section on textile waste and how they were looking at minimising this through recycling projects. The staff are friendly and helpful and a it was a great way to spend a few hours.

  2. The Musem of Siam was very cool because we got to learn about historical Thai culture before some of the more modern traditions became integrated in society. We got to try on different types of clothes, sit in a replica classroom, play the games that were entertainment back then, and watch how different meals were created through a projector onto a table. It was very interactive as well, which made it more fun. There was a video in one room and a puzzle in the other. Overall, it was a very fun and engaging way to learn about Thai traditions and Thai culture.

  3. A wonderful whimsical look at the answer to the question, what is Thainess?Set in a gorgeous neo classical European styled building this simple journey through the various elements of what it is to be Thai is well worth the time. Being close to Wat Pho, home of the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, you can easily tack a visit to the museum on afterwards. It’s a nice peaceful wind down from the crowds at Wat Pho.Audio guides in your language and lockers to store your things are both free. It’s a very interactive display so good for the younger travellers.

  4. I am extremely disappointed with the Museum. I had high expectations to learn about the history of Thailand but I left it without any useful or factual info. I have just rushed through the “exhibits”, none were of interest to me. The exhibition is on junior level, with low level of educational nature or maybe better to say with the purpose to entertain the visitor and not to educate. It is more for students maybe. The good news is that the entrance fee is very low.

  5. We had overlooked this completely on our last visit simply because we were overwhelmed with the major sites we did see. Note that it is just along from Wat Pho(which everyone visits – so go to this before you leave the area!!Was around 100 Baht which included a great audio guide high takes you from room to room. Clever and ingenious story telling of what ‘Thainess’ is / means – absolutely wonderfully done through various media. Loved it from start to finish (and has a lovely little restaurant and great little gift shop!) GO!!

  6. It’s a very nice place to leanr more about Thai culture. You have various rooms with different concept, it’s intereactive. That’s a place I recommend to pass by if you have time in Bangkok.I’ve made a video on my channel on youtube talking about it. Go check it 🙂

  7. Best museum I visited for such a low price. We learned a lot about what it means to be Thai & How the culture developed. Must see attraction!

  8. This has good information that could be improved w/more accessible format. One display is a large teak platform from which objects rise. It has a handicapped ramp, and most viewers stand closer. The risk is falling from one level to another. Some exhibits had signs with small print and glare from the lights. There’s a room with games and many were in boxes above adult head level. The room with Thai costumes and photo opportunities was very good. The audio guide was available in multiple languages, and it enhanced the experience. This is close to Wat Arun and Grand Palace. It’s good for adults, not youngsters.

  9. Worthy for visiting. I reached there by mrt blue line . The mrt station exit just in front of the museum. I spent almost 2 hrs there going thru from 3rd floor hall to the 1st floor hall.

  10. I was skeptical when my wife’s Thai colleague recommended we visit this museum, but was pleasantly surprised. Interesting displays on Thai culture and history in an old building that was the Commerce Ministry once and conveniently close to Wat Pho, which we visited beforehand. The restaurant in the garden is excellent and we had lunch there.

  11. Free for those age 60+ and that includes the audio guide (available in different languages). This unconventional museum was highly interactive and provided written English descriptions in addition to the audio guide. The organizing principle is “what does it mean to be Thai?” Some good history. Don’t miss the room on Thai food! Allow 1-1 1/2 hours. We didn’t eat there but there is a nice, tranquil cafe on the property – a lovely contrast from the chaos around the temple of the reclining Buddha

  12. It was a good museum, but we had our seven-year-old daughter with us, and she quickly lost interest in many of the exhibits since we wanted to take our time reading about each item. We missed having more interactive elements at the exhibits to engage children better. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the museum, and it was interesting to learn about how Thai people perceive themselves and what they consider to be typically Thai.
