  1. This was our favorite experience in Thailand. We had so much fun with the giant elephants. They were so cute. We were able to make some food and then feed it to them. The elephants allowed us to put the food we made directly into their mouths. We got a quick chance to ride the elephant and have a picture taken and then bathe the elephants in the river. What an excellent experience!

  2. There is controversy going on with the elephants in Thailand and some tour companies will no longer be offering this tour after this year. That is too bad and sad for the elephants and their caretakers. This tour was the highlight of my trip. What will happen to these elephants who cannot take care of themselves in the Thailand jungle? The money generated from the tours visiting and buying elephant food and other items has to go a long way towards their care. No, I didn’t ride an elephant but only because I am old and have leg problems. I still enjoyed interacting with them. One older mother elephant stood by me for a long time and let me pet and scratch her as if we were old friends. Their bath time in the river was especially fun to watch the antics they went through. They seemed to love it. Let’s hope that the tour companies will change their minds and continue to visit the elephants and not let a few supposedly “do gooders” ruin it for the elephants and the people.

  3. From what I saw, these elephants are loved. They do appear to have a lifelong human partner (mahout) to help care for them and yes, train them to some extent. Actually, our tour guide said she personally knew the individual who had started this sanctuary due to her love of the animals. Now, I have seen reviews of other elephant sanctuaries that let you have much more time and interaction with the elephants. So, if you have a full day or more, you may want to look at those. However, for a half day trip, this was beyond my expectations! Being able to bathe with them, have one big boy play and squirt me with a trunk full of water, feed them, and take a few minute ride was thrilling! One young “lady”, Mena was a sassy youth that should not be missed as she tosses her head, twirls her trunk and plants a big kiss on your cheek! Of course you will walk away with endless photos and love in your heart for these creatures. I did not want to leave! They did said there are many other elephants there that we did not see as they were older and in the sanctuary portion of the kingdom.Definitely the best part of my trip!!

  4. We had a ball at this elephant sanctuary. We had an educational session regarding how the elephants are raised and trained by the great trainers. We were instructed how to ride and give commands to the elephants. We prepared the food and then we fed them. We also got to take pictures with them as we bathed them in the river. The instructors were always there to assist us to have a wonderful experience. Recommend this place 100%.

  5. These intelligent and adorable elephants are well loved, you can see by the way they want to do things. Not sure I agree with the elephant rides , it seems cruel to me. Elephants painting was hilarious, so talented, they do just what they like at the time!!Enjoyed the display and I think they did too.

  6. This is a very well organized place. In 90 minutes we saw elephants bath, we fed them the bananas they were selling, and we watched a show where elephants painted on a canvas ! and played soccer. Of course their handler prepared and gave them the brushes with the appropriate color. The paintings were actually impressive considering they were done by elephants. There was also elephant riding but we didn’t have time. The location was also very convenient. Very close to a well paved road yet in a jungle

  7. I think some of the reviews on here are for the completely different places. Firstly, they do not have any elephant rides and anyone who would enjoy a ride knowing full well how they are beaten in to submission, should be ashamed of themselves. Elephant Kingdom is a refuge for elephants who have been saved from a lifetime of misery. They are free to roam, bath and interact with not only other elephants, buy their incredible handlers. They are shown respect, they are loved and to watch them interact and be at peace, is truly life changing. Each and every one if the 16 elephants who have been so lucky to end up at Elephant Kingdom are blessed. We learnt with a hands on experience how to prepare o top it off, we were spoilt with a delicious lunch for ourselves.

  8. This place was very educational and an overall fun experience!! We made lunchballs for the Elephant and fed Them. Afterwards we went into their “space” where we took photos of all the calm and sweet elephants. Elephant Kingdom is worth a visit when visiting Koh Samui. They rescue elephants from places such as circusses and other places where they’re mistreated. It’s nice to see that all the elephants are living their best life :))

  9. The workers at The Elephant Kingdom appear very sincere and focused on the well being of the Elephants and provide a lot of educational information. The primary activity is making the food and feeding the Elephants and then spending time with them alongside the Mohuts (caretakers)

  10. We had an amazing experience at the Elephant Kingdom. It was a great thing to do with our kids (age 4 and 6). Our tour guide Aonna took her time to explain everything about the elephants and was also really nice to our kids! We made lunch for the elephant, feed them and could take a picture with the elephants. After the tour there was a really diverse nice lunch. Would definitely recommend visiting the Elephant Kingdom when you’re in Koh Samui!
