  1. Three of us spent several hours with Orn, shopping at her local market, prepping for a range of authentic Thai dishes under her attentive eye and then we set about actually cooking them. Orn is both meticulous with her recipes and has a great grasp of English, with a lovely sense of humour, and we all had so much fun, while concentrating seriously on our tasks of course!!Her supply of fresh fruit, vegetables and other ingredients from her garden, and the delightful jungle kitchen, made for a fantastic cooking experience, as did her obvious love of Thai food and culture. We would highly recommend arranging a cooking class with Auntie Orn. Brendon, Marg and Jacqui from New Zealand.

  2. The reason I chose Aunti Orn’s Organic Family Cooking was due to their focus on sustainability. The food we eat is such an important part of our lives and seeing where it comes from and how it is prepared really enhanced my Thailand trip. This gave me a glimpse of how important food is in Thai culture and I highly recommend that you visit Auntie Orn on your trip to Chiang Mai.

  3. Auntie Orn can cook! She is also a fantastic teacher and this extends well beyond the preparing and presenting of traditional Thai dishes which of course was so amazing. Seeing the local market was so cool! She showed us a super old section of the city we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Her permaculture garden is lovely and harvesting fresh ingredients for your meal is the best. Exactly the experience we were hoping for. Thank you Orn for your energy. The Krathong you helped us make was so special and memorable!!

  4. My son and I had a brilliant day with Orn. I had met her 3 years before when she was working at Baan Boo Loo Village where we were also staying this time. She organised transport from there to the local market where we met up. She gave me the biggest hug and also welcomed my son warmly. It was like meeting up with an old friend. We chose some ingredients from the market with Orn explaining the different foods as we went along. Then we drove to her home, which is in a village just outside Chiang Mai. She and her friend Lek have created a home and organic garden from scratch and are aiming towards living a fully self sustaining lifestyle. She showed us around the organic garden and we picked vegetables and herbs to use in cooking some really delicious food. It was great fun as Orn is a lovely lady, full of knowledge about authentic Thai food and has a great sense of humour. We all sat together eating the food that we had cooked. Afterwards we went by Tuk Tuk to a local farmers market where we met some of her friends who are promoting an organic lifestyle by selling the things they grow and make, honey, fruit, soap, etc. They were so welcoming. We also got to talk to a lovely customer who was keen to practice her English. We attempted some Thai, but weren’t great, but at least we tried! We were then driven back to Baan Boo Loo.What a great, authentic,Thai experience, so much better (and cheaper) than doing a cooking course at your hotel. I whole heartedly recommend this. You can book via her website and see photos on her Facebook page. Go ahead and book it, you won’t regret it!

  5. I never imagined I would enjoy the cooking class SO MUCH with Auntie Orn! From the very beginning, she shared with us WHY she is doing this — to share a way of life, to share the wisdom rooted so deep in the traditional Thai culture, and to inspire others to return to a natural way of living. I was so inspired that I told a few friends that night just how amazing the experience was! Auntie and her business “brother” showed up on time to pick us up. After a 40-minute drive, with a pitstop at two markets, we arrived at her organic farm south to Chiang Mai. Having grown up in cities, I could barely recognize any plants on the farm, yet a gentle walk with the brother through the field made me realize just how fertile this little farm is! My friend and I were given a cute little sapling to plant, which really touched me. More than a tourist activity, I felt that I was absorbing wisdom from Auntie Orn through words and actions. Then we spent 3 hours cooking six dishes, I enjoyed it so much so that I barely noticed if I was sweating or not. It was a scorching day but the kitchen was well covered under the roof with good ventilation. I especially like our creation of Khao Soi, Pad Thai and Massaman Curry. It turns out that Pad Thai is actually incredibly easy to prepare, the secret lies in the sauce. I now feel so inspired to cook more at home. Thank you Auntie Orn for sharing your way of life. Your wisdom of nature and of how human beings should be integrated in nature heartened me. Thank you!!

  6. Looking for a place to learn how to cook authentic thai cuisine, it’s the place!!!!That’s exactly what I was looking for!Thank you Orn for this experience, and Thank you to Suthep as well, you’re a great team. I learnt a lot and I couldn’t be more grateful for that. Hope to see you soon to share really good homemade dishes again!!

  7. It was wonderful to cook with Orn again in her new kitchen setting on the organic farm. We enjoyed visiting the local market to do the food shopping for the class, and being in the middle of a farming community so close to Chiang Mai. We have known Orn for 5 years and she has enjoyed seeing our teenage girls growing up. She has always been able to engage with them & get them to participate in all aspects of cooking. We prepared and ate a fantastic lunch, in a relaxed and unique location. We look forward to seeing Orn’s vision develop through working with local farmers, using traditional farming techniques, and supporting local community projects through her cooking school and farm stays.

  8. My friend and I went there to cook 3 dishes:1) Vegan Massaman Curry2) Vegan Tom Yum Soup3) Mango Sticky RiceUpon arrival, we were greeted by Auntie Orn and her staff. We got to pick certain ingredients/vegetables from her organic garden. It was great teamwork. One person was in charge of crushing the spices, while the other watched the stove.Food was extremely delicious as well. Would definitely recommend!

  9. My friend and I took a cooking class with Auntie Orn in May 2019. Auntie Orn was very knowledgeable, friendly, and kind, and she is a great cook! The food we made with her was the best most delicious food we had during our three weeks in Thailand. She does private classes which is so nice because you get one on one instruction and it is a more personal experience.

  10. We have stayed at the „3 Sparrows“ with Orn for 5 days. Due to her engagement we had the most relaxing and still exiting holiday there. Everybody involved was so heartwarming. The cooking class was an awesome experience and the dinner delicious!!! Orn is an extraordinarily good chef. All thumbs up 😉
