ao kwang peep is beneath ao jai the only beach on which it is possible to swim during high and low tide, but ao kwang peep is much more nicer than ao yai. the beach is located at the northend of the island with view to the neighbour island koh chang. the beach is maybe 200 meters long and a nice beach rstaurant, which offers good food and fantastic fruitshakes is located at the center of the beach. the beach itself slopes gently to the sea and the powdery lightgrey sand is very soft during the sunbath. big rocks are spreaded in the colourful water and make the beach more interssting, in the lush vegetation in the back of the beach area a few beach houses are hidden, which are accomodation of the monkey resort, the only one on that beach.the atmosphere was very relaxed every time we were there during our two week stop in koh phayam. everything was peaceful and quiet.the second name of ao kwang peep is monkey beach, because a lot of monkey are hanging around in the trees and they are very interested in the bags and backpacks of the beach visitors. nothing should left open on the beach during swimming. because ao kwang peep is located at the northcoastside of koh phayam it is not a good place for the sunset. there is no sunset. but the northend of ao khao kwai is very near and during ten minutes it is possible to change the location when sunset is near.we can recomment ao kwang peep very much. every time we had a lot of fun with the monkeys, the staff of the beach restaurant and the beach visitors also. when we are back in koh phayam we will go to ao kwai peep again for some lazy afternoons on powdery sand and in crystalclear water.
Nice small beach.I was there at low tide so plenty of shade under the trees. The restaurant seems nice as well (just had a fruitshake)You can also do some proper swimming wich at the other beaches specially at khao kwai is not possible. The best about this beach is ,no sandflies contrary to the other beaches!
We walked here via a trail through some virgin forest. It is all spectacular at the top north of the island. A small, pristine, clean beach that fits the bill as a cover for a holiday brochure. A beach to relax on, very quiet and not much going on there. Worth the effort to get there.
Our favorite! There is enough shadow to settle and enjoy! Almost nobody (we saw max. 20-30 person at the « rush jour »).You need a motorbike to go there and a little bit of walking if you don’t want to go down the small path with motorbike.
Cozy little beach that’s perfect for throwing down a towel, lying back and enjoying the scenery. The sea is beautiful and perfect for a lazy swim, right next to it is a comfy looking bar / restaurant that we didn’t have the time to visit.
The way to here is quite difficult to ride a motorbike as it is non-asphalt road and narrow. But once I arrive, I found 1 bungalow here with restaurant and very calm beach. The surrounding is forest where you can meet the squirrel and hornbill bird in the morning.
This is the third year in a row coming here, and each time the business occupying the site has changed. I never know for sure whether to book here or just visit during the day. To date I’ve come for day use only. It’s just a beautiful place to swim and hang out. I bought a cold drink at the restaurant and they were ok with me using the beach. You can drive most of the way with a motorbike, but if it’s been raining or if you aren’t an experienced rider, I’d park the bike at the crest of the hill and walk down. I know of those who say Buffalo Bay is the best beach here, others who say it’s Ao Yai. This beach is much smaller than those, but wow, how beautiful! And you can swim at high tide and low tide. This place gets my vote. I’m glad it takes work to get here, otherwise there’d be no place to spread out my blanket and the charm would be gone.
If you already got a bike or you are planning to, do it. Its a nice remote beach with a 5min walk. Monkeys – I am not sure the bikes are to loud, maybe if you will wait at the parking lot for 15 quiet min you will see them? Water is clear and there is a beach restaurant. A small ferry boat is available for excursions.
Nice place for a restaurant. Food is really good. They also have a great selection of cocktails. And the view is amazing. You can also go snorkelling here.
A rare spot with snorkeling on the remnants of a reef. Best fish over to the right next to rocks. Lots of spiny sea urchins so swimmers beware, don’t put your feet down in the rocky areas. You need to be confident on a bike to get there – a couple of steep and narrow sections with uneven dirt track. We had a lovely morning there almost all to ourselves. Cafe doing drinks and basic food.
