  1. Jackie and Daro were amazing hosts for a 3 day tour around their village! An absolute highlight for our entire trip, we loved every second and learned so much! Couldn’t recommend more!!! 11/10

  2. We have taken three tours with Jackie from Daro Tours in northern Thailand. His knowledge of the area is extensive and he speaks English fluently. He is an excellent driver and is caring and interested in his guests. I would gladly take a tour with him again.

  3. Fantastic tour, Fantastic Day! Tour guide Jackie picked us up at our residence in Chiangmai and drive us in a very comfortable large vehicle far north to see the amazing Golden Triangle, as well as the spectacular white and blue temples…indescribable works of art! We had several additional stops but I don’t want to spoil your trip. He has incredible knowledge of the area and knows his history very well. He’s extremely kind and very fluent in English. You won’t be disappointed. Worth every baht!!!

  4. Excellent experience with Jackie. Such memorable moments and I think we made a great friend in Jackie. Felt very safe, relaxed, comfortable and taken care of. Thank you so much!

  5. Our group of 6 had a 1-day customized private tour with Jacky around Chiang Mai. It was one of the best experiences on our trip! What I appreciated most was that he took us to some of the quieter spots, tucked away from the tourist hordes, but just as amazing. Everywhere we went, I could see Jacky’s connections with the people – the people at the restaurants or villages we visited seemed like old friends. Definitely experiences I’ve never had before, and I have traveled a lot. We had so much fun, and would highly recommend Daro Tours to anyone!

  6. I loved my day exploring Chiang Rai with Anan & Daro Tours. It was a perfect day that I was able to customize. I loved learning about the Hilltribes of Northern Thailand & the personal connection Anan had with the people we met and visited. Felt super authentic & unique unique and I really enjoyed the entire day – everything was perfect.

  7. We booked a 2 day tour with Daro Tours and it was 100% the BEST part of our trip to Thailand! Looking back at our pictures, I can’t believe everything we did in only two days. Our guide, Jackie was absolutely amazing, he is from a Karen Hill Tribe himself, and was the perfect guide. His English is exceptionally good, so no barriers there. He shared so much of his knowledge about the temples we visited, the local villages, cooking, and daily life in the hill tribes, it was amazing. We pestered him with questions the entire two days and learned a TON! Our two day tour included riding a bamboo raft down the river, hiking in the jungle, a jungle picnic at a waterfall, swimming at a waterfall, a stop at a hill tribe village for locally grown and roasted coffee, multiple temple stops, an overnight with a lovely hill trip family, which included a dinner that we all helped to prepare, and spending time in the village on day 2 to get an idea of what daily life was like. The whole trip was unbelievable, and I would do it again in a heartbeat! This is definitely a tour for the adventure-minded traveler, you will find squat toilets, cold showers, a bed on the floor, and you will LOVE it.

  8. My husband, his cousin, and I went on the Doi Inthanon tour with Jackie and also asked to add on seeing elephants. Everything was wonderful. Such a smooth and fulfilling experience. Jackie was flexible with us as well. Original pickup was at 7am but since our hotel started their breakfast at 7, Jackie was accomodating with picking us up at 7:30 so we could eat breakfast quickly. Our first stop was a local market to pick up food we would later eat at lunch. We mentioned that two of us don’t eat fish and he was good about picking out a variety of foods that weren’t fish related. He picked up lychee which were in season and absolutely delicious. It was my first time trying them. After that we headed to a waterfall and then the twin pagodas. Jackie was very knowledgable and answered our questions about the different tribes, Thai culture, and Buddism along the way. After the pagodas we drove to a spot and met another guide who brought us on a trek, mostly downhill, through the forest. They provided walking sticks which came in handy since I’m prone to being clutsy. It helped me balance at spots where we were going downhill. We saw bananas, waterfalls, coffee plants. The guide would occasionally stop and pull out his knife and cut off a piece of bark for us to smell. There was one of cinnamon, one of lemongrass, and another minty one that he said was what they use in tiger balm. He was also good at pointing out cicadas, lizards, and frogs that were hanging out camoflaged. Halfway through the trek we met up again with Jackie who had set up our lunch picnic at the base of a waterfall. It was a perfect lunch. After we continued walking past some rice fields and eventually ended at a Karen Hill Tribe village where we were able to grind some freshly roasted coffee and drink the coffee. After this break we headed to meet the elephants. The elephants are taken care of by one of the Karen Hill Tribes. We drove out to a clearing in the woods. In the distance we could see a male elephant grazing (Jackie explained it was a male because of the long tusks whereas females have short ones that aren’t as visible). Soon over the hill some of the Karens arrived following 3 female elephants: a mother, 20 years old, and her two daughters, 7 and 2. The 2 year old elephant still looked young and would occasioanlly get milk from its mother, though it also ate from our baskets. One of the Karens provided each of us with a basket of sugar cane and bananas so we could feed the elephants and we were instructed how to feed them. The elephants were a bit pushy about trying to get more food out of our baskets but we didn’t feel in danger. When our baskets were empty, they contiued to graze around us. Elephants are always eating! They had also been taught how to give us a hug with their trunk and kiss our cheeks. The elephants were very healthy and given a lot of freedom. Their handlers mostly gave the elephants verbal cues. The two bigger elephants had very loose ropes around their necks that they didn’t even seem to notice. As we walked down to their bathing area, we waited a lot while the elephants continued to graze and throw red dirt on their backs (helps with the bugs). Down at the water area we were able to get in with them and scrub their backs with brushes. Jackie and the other Karens used our phones to take pictures for us during the whole experience. During the whole tour Jackie was very good about taking pictures for us, either with one of our phones or his own and he would send the pictures later on whatsapp. After drying off and changing from playing with the elephants, we ate the rest of the lychee and then headed back to our hotel. Overall it was a great experience. We learned a lot, ate well, and saw a lot of beautiful sites. Jackie was very friendly and knowledgeable. I will definitely recommend Daro Tours to anyone going to Chiang Mai. 🙂

  9. This has been the absolute BEST experience you can have in Chiang Mai. 100% recommended! We we could only book one overnight stay with at the Karen Hill village and honestly wished that we could have stayed longer. The food was AMAZING and our host family was very welcoming and kind. If you do go to Chiang Mai, this experience is a must!

  10. My family of five used Daro Tours this summer for two days while in Chiang Mai. Jackie brought us on an all-day tour to the White Temple, the Myanmar border and the Golden Triangle. He was a wealth of knowledge and so kind. I was able to customize what we wanted to do on our tour when booking. They responded very quickly to my questions and we were able to put together a great day for my family! The next day, Jackie also brought us to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, which we would not have done without him telling us we needed to visit it. I was thankful he did!
