I did my open water certification with the owner, Andy, 5 years ago and I think it speaks volumes about his character that when I recently came back to go on a liveaboard to the Similans that I came here to book it. Being a PADI instructor my wife and I where looking for that personal touch for some diving in Khao Lak. Well we found Similan Scuba. We met with Andy and Irada (his awesome wife) and they helped (recommend) us to book one of the most amazing 4 day dive trips I have been in on in my life, my wife isn’t a certified diver but she came on the trip as well and she also had a amazing experience. One really important part of this trip was that all of the scuba rental gear from Similan Scuba is brand new what a treat. The food, service and accommodations were outstanding and for the price compared to other similar trips was also incredible. We will be using this shop regularly now since the diving is incredible in the area. I won’t bore you with our specific dives just go see them tell them what your looking for and it will happen you won’t regret it

My girlfriend and I booked a snorkel day trip with Similan Scuba and couldn’t be more pleased about the professionalism of both Andy and Tui from Similan Scuba and the speedboat snorkel trip to the Surin Islands. We met Andy in the shop located right on the main road in Khao Lak and he took his time to explain every detail of our upcoming trip and even texted us in the morning to make sure the transfer picked us up in time. The trip itself was very well organized;We got dropped off at the pier where they do a check in for all the guests and get you sized up for all the gear you need for the day. There are also plenty of bathrooms and tea coffee and snacks available before the boat itself departs.The speedboat trip to the Surin Islands takes about an hour and the boat itself is quite large, with plenty of space for comfortable seating. Upon arrival to the Surins, the you get to see the famous Moken Village and see how the famous sea gypsies live day to day. (Unfortunately many of the bungalows burned down in a fire recently so we were only able to see the village from the boat but I’m sure they will rebuild quickly!). The real highlight of the trip though was the snorkeling of course and Surin offers by far some of the best snorkeling in all of Thailand. The corals were colorful with many beautiful fish and although there might be a few speedboats at a time on some snorkeling spots, they are more than large enough that you can snorkel without seeing or running into anyone else. Lunch was served on the island itself and included a delicious array of chicken wings, Stir fried vegetables and other Thai Currys. We had plenty of time spend on the beach after lunch and then spent the rest of the afternoon snorkeling around Surin. After getting back to the pier in the late afternoon there was even another buffet served with plenty of food and snacks and of course the post trip beer before being transferred back to our hotel.All in all we had a wonderful day and a special thanks to Similan Scuba for organizing everything so well and making sure we had a great time!
I planned a last minute trip and bought a new mask. Even if I finally started my trip from Phuket, Andy helped me to understand the different options better and was really nice. I also bought a new mask for a good price and with good advices. Definitely tested and approved!
I had not organised anything before coming to Thailand so I was very grateful to Andy for organising my two different outings very quickly and with useful tips and advice. The whole family went snorkelling to Surin Island, which was stunning and very enjoyable. The dive at richelieu rock was the highlight of my trip, which was a really stunning dive site.
