Worth the early rise to see this beauty. Make it happen! It was my fav thing we did on the Pai trip! Yes there is a fee and yes you have to pay for tea and baked goods but it’s so cheap just go!
A mountain road, on the outskirts of Pai, leads up from the Santichon Chinese Village and to a fabulous mountain top view point area! After parking, it was only a short walk up to the scenic viewpoint areas which were also within a complex of restaurants and souvenir shops. The cost was about 40 baht per person and 40 baht more for permission to take photos. The mountain views were stunning and we took many photos. There is also a tree with many ornaments with declarations of love written on them. It was said that many people would come here to make marriage proposals! We also visited another amazing coffee shop and resort located on a nearby hill of the same area!
Take a trip up to this lovely view point, pay the small entrance fee and enjoy the view. Calm and serene, views over the countryside to the mountains. Enjoy!
I went here as I marked afew places to see on the motorbike around Pai. It was 20 entrance and he tried to give me wrong change. The views are nothing special and it was smoggy from the smoke. Not sure why this place gets good reviews. Go other view points.
It’s Beautiful plateu made into a tourist place, there is a entrance fees (cheap) collected by a person sitting at a makeshift table and chair. If you visit the place with no tourist, you get to take nice photos from all sides, cold even in summer, toilet available and some souvenir can be bought there, if you are hungry, go further back down for proper chinese restaurant for food.Anyway, it’s a beautiful place to rest and view the city below.Tips: Don’t buy the tea there, you can get it cheaper many other places. Also, if you drive, try to get a powerful car, the last leg of the slope is very steep, to the extend you will not see the road up ahead due to driving up slope.
We woke up an hour before the sunrise and drove to the viewpoint. there were locals who stopped us from driving to the top viewpoint and made us park at the bottom. They said they will shuttle us to the top for 300 baht return trip (5 min car ride). We thought it was a bit odd they didn’t let us drive to the top, but it’s fine. The sunrise was gorgeous. The entrance fee is 20 baht per person. Make sure to walk all the way to the end to get a spot. It’s cold in the morning so wear a jacket and pants.
Reached the viewpoint after a steep uphill drive. We drove a 4WD and the last bit was very steep, so possible something to keep in mind when with a normal car or motorcycle. The view was spectacular, to say the least. Weather was very clear, which allowed clear views of the surrounding areas of Pai.Entrance fee was 20 baht per person.
We parked at the entrance of the village and we enjoyed walking 1km up there. We were the only one, everybody prefers to go by scooter or car, a pity… they miss all the charm of the village, the papaya and banana trees, etc.To access the view point, there is another scam in Pai as someone is asking you for an entrance fee. We wanted to have drink and I’m sure they are already overpriced, so paying just to enter the café was out of question, specially to be surounded by tourists. Instead of, we had a drink 10 meters futher down, at a café/restaurant beside the chinese garden. The view was on the other side, so different, but very nice, and we were the only one there, which was very relaxing. During that time, the crowd of tourists was queing to get a spot at the “proper viewpoint”, which is, in our opinion, another tourist trap. Why always pay?
My review is for the entire hill and not only for the ” View point” that many here are complaining about the 50 cent entrance charge, are you for real guys? Other than it is a ridiculous amount, you are not paying for the “view” per se but for maintenance of the place eg. decoration, flowers, wooden structures for shade and sitting to lool at the view, the road leading to it etc.. and you have to admit it is very well maintained and clean, which does not happen by some magic powers. Other than that the naked view “from the viewpoint” is nothing special at all, it’s the entire feeling of being high up plus the experience of walking up the last bit if not the entire mountain also including the chinese village (free entry) at the bottom there. Just meters below the viewpoint there are 2 restaurants with different views on some very nice gardens which should not be missed once you are up there. You can both eat and relax there with great views. There is even a publicly accessible swimming pool further down (100 baht to swim) which you might want to consider and have a swim suit with you, so if you have the time you could do the entire thing by all means but just make sure you pick a nice day with good visibility.
It’s a very nice viewpoint! There’s an entry fee but it’s only 20 baht, so very cheap. The views are lovely, but it’s not super accessible. The road leading up to it is very steep, so it might be a little dangerous for those on motorbikes.
