Like another review said, we were also brought to a coffin maker and worse still followed by another stop at a crematorium! The guide spent considerable time at both of these stops to explain about funeral rituals which was totally irrelevant and morbid. These 2 stops totally ruined what would have been a very pleasant ride through the padi fields and country side residences. If the stops were made to fill up the four hours, it was really a shame. We didn’t have to pay for our drinks when we stopped at a wood carving factory. Overall disappointment.
Staff at the office were very nice. Good choice of bicycles. However, not much to see on this tour. Guide difficult to understand and not interesting. Food offered was extremely limited and not good at all. I would recommend a different tour focused more on the surrounding areas rather than the city itself.
Micky& Nick were great, only us 2 on the tour. We waited for others booked but they never showed. Out of town to an agricultural area, picked up our bikes then rode to rice growing area, luckily the planters were there & we saw them in action, talk about speedy & efficient planters, incredible! Then to casket carpenter & we learned of the Buddhist ceremonies of burial, so interesting. Then to world renowned wood artist worship in her home. Her carved doors are found in Thai embassies in other countries, truly an amazing woman! We cycled throughout this area, over 20 km, really fun. Micky & Nick so full of information. Arrived back to Little Village for a tasty lunch of cashew chicken. We would happily recommend this tour!
Mikey was the perfect cycle tour guide. We spent a wonderful 3 hours with him. We stopped for coffee at a lovely cafe and he answered all our many questions about Thailand! Thank you so much Mikey.
The Best guide and a great cycling tour in Chiang Mai Countryside. A very good english speaking guide, with humor and very telling. Try it and You will have a great day and many experiences!!
We booked a private tour with Chiang Mai Bicycle for 9 people for the half day Lanna Countryside bike tour.We were picked up at our hotel and driven 20-30 minutes outside Chinag Mai to the starting location where we got our bikes, water, and safety instructions. We then embarked on a beautiful bike journey through rice fields and villages, stopping multiple times to see points of interest (school, temples, farmland, woodworking shop, etc.).The entire journey was very well paced and our guide was friendly and informative. The scenery was breathtaking, the bike ride was flat and very easy, and everyone in our group was extremely happy with the tour.Upon return from the bike trip, we had lunch at the starting point and were driven back to our hotel in Chiang Mai. I’d highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to partake in an easy adventure outside the busy streets of Chiang Mai. The tour is very family friendly and kid friendly.
Fantastic way to see the country-side. The bikes were in good condition and the roads we traveled on were quiet and flat. Our guide was knowledgeable which was such a great introduction to Lanna. Thanks you
Great bicycle tour with our guide, Matthew ‘Tew’. We were with 3 sporty people, so we speeded up a bit and did a real nice tour through the rice fields and beautiful villages with traditional houses mixed with modern. The green scenery with fruits and flowers everywhere was impressive. We made some stops for a drink and see local crafts. No commerce! 🙂 After about 25 km (just right in this temperature) we arrived at the starting point and had well deserved cold drinks and lunch. Tew is highly educated, has a great sense of humor and is great biking mate! Many thanks! Cheers, Marco & Valerie
My family booked the full day tour which was approximately 48km. After being picked up from our hotel we were taken to our starting destination and asked to choose our bike for the day from a large shed full of varying bikes. They altered the bikes to suit our heights and needs. Once we were on our way, we rode alongside rice paddy fields. We were very interested in the rice fields, and asked many questions. We stopped and had a water break and got to see people at work. We never went thirsty as we had many water breaks as well as toilet breaks. As we were biking past temples we got the option to stop and look if we wanted. Lunch was amazing… it was a little shack on the side of the road where they cooked us a lovely chicken noodle stir fry and we got the best pineapple and mango smoothie ever. Following lunch we continued biking through the little villages. We stopped at a little place for a drink and discovered it’s where a wonderful lady does traditional hand carvings which we found mesmerising. All in all the day was very relaxing, we never felt rushed and we seen some spectacular sights. Our guide was fantastic, we had so much fun together (he teased dad and I about getting sore butts, and joked about how mum had chosen a bike with a sofa seat so no sore bottom for her). He answered all our questions and enjoyed joking around with dad about biking with no hands. He was light hearted and as such I would definitely recommend doing a bike tour with this company
We hired bikes from Chiang Mai bicycle and to be honest we weren’t that impressed with the kit and standard of service. The shop feels like an unloved and disorganised space. They do lots of bike hires but haven’t set up good systems of work. Paper everywhere – I’m not convinced the shop knows exactly who is out and on what… We had to ask for everything – helmets, bicycle repair kits (we did not get) etc. there are no lights available for the bikes. No suggestions given on what to do if you have an issue. One bike stopped working half way into a trip, luckily it’s fairly flat so it wasn’t awful getting back. They did allow us to swap bikes without issue, but I think we would have struggled to get any money back for the curtailed hire period. That said, we had lots of fun exploring the city and surround area on bikes – not for the faint hearted or non bike initiated as it is fairly full on traffic. And we really loved the opportunities and freedom given by the bikes. I just want bike lights for when it is dark and more reassurance re safety management and bike maintenance. This is just re the bike hire side of the business – we did not take a tour. Nice people, just didn’t across particularly into bikes or technically bike proficient.
