Our day got off to a rough start when our driver was over twenty minutes late. We were a little rushed at check in, but our guide said not to worry because we would be the last boat to leave. I’m not sure where the communication broke down, but we almost missed our boat as we were eating breakfast while our boat was the first to load up. Not a huge deal, but not exactly the relaxing vibe we were looking for on this vacation. After lunch, somehow every single person on our boat managed to be at the meeting point on time except our guide. Another boat’s guide instructed us to take the longboats back to our boat. We ended up just sitting out there for fifteen minutes waiting while we could have been in the water since our next stop was within the cove area. We didn’t go by the Moken village as advertised, which was fine by us because it meant more time snorkeling. But wanted to point that out in case future guests were looking forward to that aspect.The snorkeling itself was great and the crew seemed very experienced, but our guide was a disappointment.
The early birdTrip with “Similan Charter and Tour” to the Surin Islands I really highly recommend to everyone who likes snorkelling ! The Team is really friendly, calm and professionall at all times. Friendly and easy morning Check Inn at the Pier (just beside Namkhem Pier), coffee, and then heading with Speeboat (on my Trip the boatname was “Young Lady” with 32 Guest, included me) through some interesting mangroves. Exactly two hours later we arrived on time at 10AM (not 09:59 or 10:01 😉 for the first snorkelstop and right after to the second one. (total around 70 minutes). Good viz, doctorfishes, fussiliers, tablecorals, triggerfish etc. All without hectic, stress etc. After a 1.5 hours lunchbreak (you can relax on a fantastic beach) we headed near a Sea Gypsy village to learn more about them. Then the 3rd snorkelstopp was the greatest. Turtles, a black tip reefshark, a lot of fish and healthy corals were all included in that 50 minute final snorkel stopp. At around 03PM the 750 hp engines accelerated to cruising speed and we were back safe and sound in the harbour just on time at 16:30PM. For me a good choice and certainly not my last run with them.
My family and I went on this snorkelling trip when we were on holiday in Thailand. It was a long boat ride to the Surin Islands. We made 3 snorkelling stops. Out of the fish I saw, my favourite was definitely the Bicolour Parrotfish. But all of the fish were amazing. We stopped for lunch on the island at this restaurant-buffet place and then we went to the beach on the other side of the island. After that, we went back to the boat and made our last snorkelling stops. On the last stop, the current was very strong so we had to go back to the boat early. One of the passengers got caught by the current, but luckily the crew saved them. Overall, the trip was great fun and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves snorkelling!
We had a memorable time. A special thanks to Iia who was most helpful and knowledgeable about marine life. She got into the water just so that the first time snorkellers felt safe and comfortable – if not for her, they would not have had this experience. Tours are very well planned and all your needs are taken care of. The speedboat is also first class (3 motor). Would definitely recommend for everyone.
We did two tours with Similian Charter (the Surin Island Tour and the Koh Kam Daytrip, the last one a recommendation from Larissa, one of the German tourguides). Similian is a company that is highly comitted to both their work and to nature. The boats are new and safe and they always leave seats free so that the boat does not get too croweded. Everything is extremly well organized, they have tourgides that speak different languages (even German and Finish!), the food that they provide is super yummy and they are eager to make the tours to a wonderful experience for everyon. You can tell that they are truely enjoying their work. On both our tours we had the owner with us on boad who is a former fisherman and knows the Ocean and the best snorkeling places like no one else does. If just all the companies in the world were run by people that are so highly commited to their work, so peaceful and so nature friendly, this world would be a different one. This company deserves a major compliment about the way they care about the nature in which they operate. They gave us steel water bottles so that we wouldnt use plastic, the boat ran on bio-ethanol and when going through vulnerable areas they slowed down and made sure they did no harm.The snorkelling itself was amazing and during the whole trip we had some breathtaking views. Include the amazing and enthusiast guide Lissy and the very knowledgeable staff of the boat and this all made for an excellent day in which we felt safe, well taken care of and absolutely excited with all the awesome experiences.Definitely recommend this tour and especially this company!
This company is the only tour company that has a license to take tourists out to the Koh archipelago. We chartered the whole boat for our group, which meant our 18 friends were the only souls on all of the four islands we visited. Absolutely insane, a true “Lost” experience. Also went snorkeling in several locations, and ended the day watching the sunset on a little patch of sand in the middle of the sea, the crew surprised us by bringing fresh coconuts from a nearby port. This went above and beyond our expectations, a magical experience, all thanks to our wonderful guide Iia. After that we went ahead and booked a tour to Khao Sok. The company does not usually arrange tours to go there, but they made it happen for us. Two days staying in a floating hotel in the middle of the lake, kayaking, bamboo rafting, jungle trekking, a sunrise boat ride and a full Christmas dinner. Once again we were blown away and can not thank Iia and Bang, our tourguides enough. Easily the best tour company we have ever booked anything with. Excellent tour to really beautiful and quiet beaches. I believe they are the only speedboat company to go koh Kam. The island where you have lunch has the most incredible views. It is the paradise Thai Islands I dreamed of. Only downside is the pier check in process in the morning is a bit hectic. But still a 5 star day overall.
