This is a time capsule of a place which has connections with the Thai royal family. You can get a train to Bangkok but it takes about 4 hours. A walk along the platform gives you an enjoyable insight into how things used to be.
Our honeymoon photographer brought us to the location to take photos. Spent about 20min or so there. Not much to see but. I guess it’s nice to take photos of if you are in the area. Aside from the main old station there are a few train carriages parked opposite that make good photo backdrops as well.We had researched the attraction prior to visiting Hua Hin but decided that it was not worth dedicating time to visit. But we are glad our photographer brought us to take photos for a different vibe.
It been a long time when visited here, as well I came to visited again last week; station had developed a lot to be better surrounding; local food, 7-Eleven and J.K.rental scooter&car that very convenience. We had an hour to spare so walked to the Hua Hin train station from our hotel. The architecture is magnificent, old but well maintained. There is a board with the history of the station. Takes you back to the glory days of rail travel. Gives me a reason to go back to Hua Hin and ride one of the trains.
There is a very impressive and intricately designed former railway station building on the platform of Hua Hin railway station. When we were there the building was closed but you could walk round it and view it from the station.
Effective mid December 2023, trains to Hua Hin will now stop at the new Hua Hin train station instead. The old scenic train station was still open for tourists to wander around and take photos
Well, it is now a massive replacement from the charming station pre Covid (and the high speed line).The old ticket office remains, look at the photo in all its glory, but is now dilapidated. We cannot understand why the building cannot be used as a coffee shop with the old station memorabilia. The saving grace is that the enormous new building has the same fabulous colour scheme.
Last year we still arrived at the legendary Hua Hin Railway Station, the well known over 100 y.o. landmark in traditional Thai style.This time, the Special Express 43 from Krung Thep Aphiwat Bangkok Main Station arrived with only a few minutes delay to the new, elevated Hua Hin Railway Station.It is much bigger than the old station, of course with much more modern amenities like escalators, lifts, modern rest rooms, …But … you’re still leaving to town and taxis by walking thru the Old Railway Station which now is perfectly preserved as a museum and it remains a must see landmark of Hua Hin 👍

The station is beautiful but take care, a Grab taxi will drop you off there but NO online taxi service will collect you due to taxi mafia operating in area. You have to walk toward new station and look for drivers. Minimum charge is 100Bht.😡
