This is a life changing experience. Great hosts. Hands on training. Everything was very personal. We never felt rushed. My heart is exploding
We booked this because we were looking for an ethical, educational experience woth elephants. If that’s what you’re after, this is it. Dada is a wonderful person who used to be a traveling researcher and social worker, and she was so generous about sharing her knowledge and traditions with us. We went on a hike next to the elephants, which were treated very well with not a hint of violence or labour. Prasit was or guide for the hike, and he was so informative, fun, and interesting that i would have loved to go even without animals. Overall we completely recommend this experience, this is the way to see elephants and learn about them in Thailand.
It was a truly amazing experience. First of all, it’s not a classic souvenir tour. We are not going to an enclosed reserve, but into the middle of an authentic jungle where, in addition to the elephants, Dada also breeds other animals as well as a field with subsistence crops. Dada, a wonderful, lovable, whole-hearted, humble person from whom the modern world should learn the meaning of the proverb “money doesn’t make happiness” tells us with real passion about the history of her tribe. You can learn a great deal, she is happy to answer questions. Her explanation about the care of elephants is interesting and informative. Leave the stereotypes from the internet at home before you go to a real specialist whose tribe has been doing this for over 2,000 years. The place is authentic, without a souvenir shop or other money-squeezers. And the food was delicious 😉 In truth, I wholeheartedly recommend it!
Great experience being close to the elephants. Communication via whatsapp was fast and picku0 ontime. Guides explained about the elephants and their community. Great family tour. Must do when visiting Chiang rai area.
It was really nice experience with the elephants. We also learnt about the Karen tribe which was interesting and educating. However if you’re looking for a fully ethical experience I would not recommend this. Even though the guide explained to us that the people living with the elephants still have to ride them from time to time in order for them to have some kind of an exercise it felt very unnecessary for the other tourists to be climbing on top of them. After a kid even rode one of the elephants. I believe it was not anyhow painful for the elephant but it just felt degrading and it was a shame since until that point it was really nice experience. So if you’re looking for a truly ethical experience I would recommend walking tours besides the elephants not this one.
Amazing place! The most authentic Thai experience. Peaceful and full of meaning. If you visit Chiang Rai and you want to know elephants, this place is a must!
Thank you so much Dada, your family and friends for sharing a lot about Karen’s culture and having an wonderful ethical experience with elephants ❤️ I was so amazed by this breathtaking scenery. I would 100% recommend this experience, it is so worth it !
My 78 year old mother and I had an absolutely amazing full day. We walked a considerable distance with the elephants, then watched them by a small creek. Rode back in a truck for lunch and then feeding. The owner is a very special lady, and explains just how much it takes to feed these elephants as well as other farm animals. I was able to ride one on its neck like the mahout. Very cool experience. Not cruel on a wooden saddle like other places. I feel they truly care for these animals.
Great experience. Visit to help support these wonderful people. Pick up and drop off at your hotel.Great interaction with the animals and a fun day out.Nice meal at the end
Thank you Pee Dada, Pee Aye ,Pee Prasit and the Mahout team!!! 😉 We have an amazing time with all 3 Elephants. We got to know them all ,feed them , we bathed them and had a chance to ride them in the right way as a Mahout !! respect and communicate with them. We all learn how to speak with elephants, how to know when they are happy or not. They can feel our touch and gave a happy response . We loved it!! Also we learned history about the Karen , Dada ancestor and culture ! which was very interesting. And finished it off with yummy meal. ;)We highly recommended!! Great project and help Elephants sanctuary in the right way. !! Su Su ka Pee Dada.
