Pong Phra Bat Hot spring is perched on a picturesque hilltop overlooking Moo 6 Ban Du, 57100, Thailand
One of my favorite place. Not far from the airport. It’s just a simple hot spring place. Not expensive you can get a private room to enjoy a hot spring here.
Been to several hot springs in the Chiang Rai area. Some are too hot, others too cold and one too sulphur smelling. Pong Phra Bat Hot Spring in Ban Du is close to Chiang Rai and the perfect temperature and does not have a strong smell. The small pools to the left for feet only are free. The big man-made pool to the right is 20B, which you pay on the honor system in a little cash box by the pool. If there are school age kids in this pool, I opt to go the building on the far right, across the parking lot and rent a private tub for 80B, I think for about 30 minutes or so, which is empty upon rental and you fill it up yourself with a mixture of hot (I’m guessing around 110F water) and cold water. There’s also a cold shower inside. Outside there are bathrooms to change in. Clothing optional in the private tubs, but outside you’ll definitely need a swimsuit (Thai culture). Oh, there’s also massage available for 150B an hour, I usually give them a 50B tip (33%). And usually there are vendors outside selling snacks and drinks, but if not they sell cold water, chips and ice cream inside. This hot spring is a treasure and 99% local Thai people use it, so respect this local favorite. Best time to go is early morning or early evening or anytime in the Winter season. Happy soaking!
we read about the hot springs, and seen some pics.we thoghout it would be nice to visit therewhen we came we found two little pools, very hot that you can only put your legs in it.so – Yes, it’s freeBUTno – not a ra; hot spring where you can have few hours of family funהגענו כי ראינו תמונות וקראנו שנחמד ו…בחינם.מצאנו 2 בריכות עם מים ממש חמים שכולם יושבים מסביב וטובלים רק רגליים (אי אפשר להיכנס – הן קטנות… ממש התבאסנו.
Nice location for a couple of hour of relaxation. The entry is free for the shallow pools and the foot pool. For the bigger pool is 20฿.You also have private baths for 50฿.
We stopped here part of our tour, walked around, a lot of the area is a bit runned down and some construction being in progress…I expected nicer views and more hot springs opened, but it was free to visit..here are shops around but they won’t bargain..coffee shop was lovely.
One fountain, a few pools for feet and a small pool which cost 20thb only. No water eruption and quite small place. My visit was over in 10 min as I didn’t use the pools. They had huge massage tent for low cost at least.
Great! Pay 20 baht to soak in the public pool – perfectly nice and only one other couple there when we were. Not quite hot enough and hard not to wonder how often it’s cleaned, but slip into denial and enjoy.Soak your feet in the foot baths for free. You can also pay 50 baht for a private room to soak.Get a massage at the massage tent next door for 150 baht/hour. Make an appointment if you can since they get busy and close on the early side (5-ish?).
If you want to see some culture you can go here. A lot of thai people are here to take a good care of their body. Its a little in construction for now but i didn’t mind. Its a small but nice place
Staff not interested in giving information. The hotsprings water dirty. The private baths scary looking rooms. No showers provided. The changing room something from a horror movie.
Would have given the place a 3/4 wasn’t expecting much but the hot springs itself were ok. Would give a 0 if I could as when I went over to the information desk I was presented with an aggressive man whilst walking towards the desk to serve me kicked the dog that was laid under the desk to get out of his way then as the dog stood up he kicked him again, this wasn’t just a nudge with his foot. I was in shock, the guy seemed like he could see the horrified look in my face and told me the pool closed at 4 and that I didn’t have to pay. I most certainly would have not paid for this but sat outside the toilets where my partner was and sobbed my eyes out from what I’d witnessed. A part of me wanted to walk out but I wanted to keep an eye on the poor pooch. On the way out I spotted the dog and noticed he had a slight limp which I hope this isn’t from being abused, I’m disgusted and horrified that people can treat animals in this way. I hope the man reads this and has a serious word with himself shame on you!
After a long motorbike day this hot spring was wonderful. It was easy to park our motorbike here and we were greeted by the outdoor smaller pools which had a fair few people in there and the hot water fountain. The area here did smell like sulphur which was not an issue. The pools outside are free but there was one large outdoor pool which was 20B. We opted to go into a bathhouse which was 80B for 30 mins for two people. There were two bathhouses a new and old one. We loved the private bathhouse, the water can be adjusted to the temperature you like with a hot and cold tap. 30 minutes is enough as the hot water definitely takes it out of you! There is a section here too for massages and near the front there are places to eat.“Jonique Life” If you find value in our reviews please consider following our social media outlets on Facebook and Instagram as we highlight magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.
