I booked a day trip to Koh Phangan on a whim, and ended up staying 3 days once I found Blue Horizon Diving.Koh Phangan has some lovely snorkel sports on the Northwest side. I rented some quality equipment from Blue Horizon, and ended up wanting more–so I tagged along on their dive boat to Sail Rock the following day.Apparently, the water is usually cloudy with low visibility during the monsoon season (Nov/Dec), and the waters are rougher. Despite rain and waves, I had a wonderful time snorkeling around Koh Ma, as approached from the oceanside by boat. The corals were vibrant and many fish to be seen. Later, at Sail Rock, I had the exciting experience of being surrounded by HUGE schools of fish. Cris took the time to educate me on the marine biology of the area. I hadn’t received this on the other dive tours I joined on the island, so this detail elevated the experience.I went on the florescence night tour twice–it was that magical! Despite the cloudy water, the coral reefs looked like something out of “Avatar”. We saw squid, pufferfish, rays, and other creatures dancing by. The corals were so vibrant in various colors, I don’t understand why this type of diving is more popular,. It’s one of those thing you must do at least once in your life–you will miss out if you don’t include this in your itinerary.Blue Horizon Diving as a company is ethical, eco-conscious, knowledgeable about ecology, sustainability, and science. By far the most informative and interesting tour companies I’ve ever joined. I appreciated their avoidance of single-use plastics and personal safety precautions for their customers.Cris and his team are kind, personable, talented, and attentive. As a solo female traveler, I always felt safe and in good company.I am planning on returning for beginner SCUBA instruction in May, when there is good visibility and a chance to see whale sharks!
We did the nighttime phosphorescent snorkeling trip and it was terrific. Chris was a great guide and the glowing coral and anemone were beautiful. This was a very unique activity, would highly recommend. It’s a whole new way of looking at what’s under the ocean.
Very professionnel and fun staff. The material was clean, and thé organisation was perfect. I would recommend this diving center
We were trained by Cris (originally from Ecuador), a very friendly, patient and professional teacher who gave a confidence and made us feel very safe at the same time.
I don’t recommend it. We didn’t get to see much. We saw few small finishes and the corals weren’t the best. They told me not to take my camera with me as they will take all the pictures with their camera and then send it to us. I messaged them 4 times asking for the picture and last time didn’t even acknowledge my message, just ignored me.
We (father-old and daughter-14years) had a wonderful 5h trip to some of the nicest snorkeling spots on the northwest side of the island – at reefs in front of very nice beachfronts or near some maritime rock formations. Going around the coastline with a longtail is itself very beautiful. Snorkeling director Antoine is a very friendly and experienced guide and a funny person. It can happen that some of the spots don’t have the best visibility under water because of coral blossom but even then it’s a good experience especially for beginners. Epuipement is good, Organisation is fine, you get an excellent performance for a very reasonable price. We will do the trip again.Patrick
Antione was super enthusiastic. Very flexible on the timing at each spot. Visibility was average but still plenty to see. Equipment was good
We were not able to make the tour due to bad visibility. But I wanted to share my experience about communication with Blue Horizon Diving because it was really bad. I booked via viator a few weeks in advance where they told me that they will contact me a few days before the trip. That never happened. I texted them two days before the trip about the exact location at Chaloklum Beach because that was the information I got via viator when I booked. I found out only then that they wanted us to come to another location. That ment for us that we hat to change the transfer ( it got longer and more expensive as the new location was further away). There was no awareness about the fact that this was not cool and should have been communicated. Also it took them at least half a day to get back to me when I asked a question and some questions they just never answered (e.g. when and where the tour ends) so I could not tell my hotel how to pick me up ever. They than canceled the trip 8 hours before it should have taken place due to bad visibility. I am on Koh Phangan for 5 days now. The ferry from Koh Samui had to change the route due to the rough see (monsoon season takes much longer than normal this year). I already wondered how they wanted to make this tour with a longtail boat when the big ferry’s have problems with the rough see. But I was not able to cancel the tour anymore by myself. I am happy that they finally did cancel it but why this had to take them so long I don’t understand. Because this means for me to cancel the second transfer I booked to their place. The weather is bad for at least the five days I am on this Island!People, don’t get yourself into so much unnecessary stress by booking a tour with Blue Horizon Diving (at least not via viator). There a hundreds of tours you can book on the island whilst you are there.
I found Blue Horizon Diving in an article of National Geographic who was recommending their dive school and fluorescent activity. I highly recommend this unique experience : As darkness fell over the sea, we descended into a magical world. The corals and anemonies illuminated by our UV lights, transformed into a mesmerizing display of vibrant greens and stunning purples, oranges and yellows – colors i never imaginated existed in the nature. What even more set this experience apart was the expertise of our guides very knowledgable, experienced and passionated. Gear perfectly maintained, Intimate group size ensuring personalized attention, expert guides, Pefect blend for a great adventure 😉 Just do it!They made some beautiful pictures and here is one !
