We only had 2 1/2 days in Bangkok and we wanted to make the most of it, we are so happy that we chose Small Teak Boat Canal Adventures. As we were there mid week many of the popular tourist attractions like the floating markets or the night markets weren’t available, having said that we were delighted with the itinerary. We were met at our hotel by our guide Champ (pronounced Shump), this costs a little extra (around $10) but well worth it in order to get to the wharf where the tour leaves from, he also brought us back to ur hotel (need to add that we paid for cost of transport to and from the wharf, this can be Sky Train or taxi). This was a private tour so we were the only couple which was also great. the tour went for 6 1/2 hours and includes lunch. We made several stops which included a local Thai food market which is open from very early morning and closes around 10am, we were there around this time but many of the stalls were still open and we got to see a part of Thai life which is not a regular tourist stop. Our guide Champ bought some sticky rice treats for us as well as buying some vegetables which would later be part of our lunch. We absolutely loved the market. Other stops included a Buddhist temple Wat Paknam Bhasicharoen, an orchid farm, a quick stop at the floating market which was closed, a stop at the Artists area where we saw a traditional Thai puppet show and lunch where Champ gave them the vegetables bought at the market which they included. The highlight of the day however was cruising in the canals and seeing the traditional Thai canal houses where many of the locals were either fishing or just sitting there smiling and waving without exception.A truly wonderful day and we would highly recommend Small Teak Boat Canal Adventures to one and all!
We had a wonderful time, but what made it truly special was our guide, Mikeen, who was so knowledgeable, professional and personal. We had a great experience and would highly recommend this experience.
We had the BEST tour I’ve ever had in a big city. Mr.Tee and our boat driver were both tremendous at creating an authentic Bangkok experience. My Dad is 75 and can’t walk a whole lot in the heat so this was perfect for us. Being on the canals was like being in a Tropical Asian Venice! Mr. Tee did a fantastic job getting an idea of what we would like to see, and then took us on our adventure! The orchid farm of a local family was incredible to walk through and appreciate. We loved the floating markets and artist canal with all their beautiful work and delicious food. And it was lovely to feed some local fish. It was also really cool because Mr.Tee only took us to the locals he thought were good people and kept us away from tourist traps and from folks who tried to copy others and ruin their business. This is the perfect way to stay cool in Bangkok and have a really fun day! I wish we had booked a full day tour!
Lovely canal tour on a long tail boat to see the more local parts of Bangkok. We saw the orchard farm, a local school and temple, local market, and the artists house where there are some more artisanal gifts for sale. The weather was great and Mr T was very lively. Would recommend to people looking for a more local experience ?
Our guide was very knowledgeable and we learned so much while exploring Ayutthaya. We enjoyed this tour and our guide very much.
An excellent trip, and really great way of seeing a side of Bangkok we’d have missed otherwise. The guide (Mr Tee) was friendly and knowledgeable, and each of the stops offered a different experience. Highly recommended.
Great tour on canal you would not see with a professional guide. Visit to temples and local markets. 3 hours in a lively Bangkok. Highly recommended
Everything was great. From the on time pick up at our hotel, the knowledge of the guide, the great lunch, and the interesting sites. A good way to discover old Bangkok and see life up close and personal.
We enjoyed that this was a customized tour and we had a private guide for the whole day. She picked us up at the hotel and made sure we were well cared for. She was knowledgeable about the main sites. We would have preferred more details on the history and neighborhoods along the canals and more details about the orchids and flowers at the markets.
If you want to do something special in Bangkok, then book the Small Teak Boat Canal Adventure Tour. We have already done the 6-hour tour a second time and are always impressed. You explore “the other Bangkok” far away from the hectic city centre. The tour is very entertaining and our tour guide Mr Champ speaks good English and did a great job guiding us through the tour. Our favourite part was the trip through the small canals and our lunch in a footmarket right next to one of the khlongs. We love this personalised tour and would book it again on a third visit to Bangkok.
Thoroughly enjoyable trip with Nui ( wise old women) who thought about our questions and answered all. She was amazing & very memorable.
The 1st thing our guide told us was that we would probably finish the tour early today. Not what you want to hear when you have paid a lot for the trip. The guide also tried to persuade us that it would be easier for us to get leave the tour early rather than getting back on the boat to return to the starting point. No choice for lunch and the soft drinks included amounted to one water or coke each with lunch. Again little choice offered. We felt pressured into buying soft drinks at the orchid farm, which I suppose is as ok seeing that we obviously weren’t in a position to buy orchids. Saying all that, the canals are very nice and well worth seeing. I think with either better customer service or lower price (and therefore lower expectations) we might have been happier. I was embarrassed when asking my friends for their share of the trip cost as they were shocked at what we’d got for the money.
We did a private tour of old Bangkok Khlongs in a small boat (just the 4 of us + guide) and enjoyed it a lot. The guide was a very funny Thai lady who really made an effort to show us around and explain many interesting facts about Bangkok and the Thai culture. We highly recommend this tour and this company – just have a look at their website, you can chat with them on Whatsapp.
Tour was original, very wel balanced between boat and excursions. our guide Natalie was absolutely lovely and very helpful. I recommande!
Fantastic tour – a very differnt view of Bangkok. Was great fun zooming on the canal seeing the wildlife and the folks who live along the river, not mention the temples and markets! Our host Ms. Risa and boat driver Mr. Kob were great and very knowledgable. Highly recommended!
