Hidden away down a side street is a quiet, leafy oasis around an artificial lagoon, a supermarket, several coffee shops, bars and restaurants. It’s a restful place in a noisy, dirty, overpopulated city with few parks or green spaces. There’s also a family club featuring a large swimming pool where my daughter took her first (inexpensive but very professional) swimming lessons and where I often swam myself – during the week, especially in office hours, the pool is often empty.
